      Jesus Christ y’all, It wasn’t meant to be that serious. I’m sure there’s Latinas with sleek hair and Caucasians with more textured hair. It was just a generalization. My white hair is too slick to do this with much success. It won’t hold the same way.

    • @hayley8696
      @hayley8696 4 роки тому +26

      @@therealexia I do this heatless wave overnight where I part my hair at the back so I have 1 section on each side. Then I take each section (because my hair is very thin I only do 2 sections) and twist it until it looks like a rope and then twist the 'rope' into a bun and secure it with a hair tie. And I do this for my other side as well. You can do as many sections as you want depending on the thickness of your hair or the looseness of the wave. I recommend watching some other yt tutorials where they use socks to curl their hair and it turns out amazing the next day :). Hopefully this was what you were asking for!

    I have naturally straight fine hair and I still love this look on me! the main difference is I do two tighter Dutch braids on damp hair so that I get that wavy texture closer to my root. I also braid as close to my ends as I can so that my ends arent pin straight. then I still follow the same curling steps as desi :) hope this helps!
    p.s. I dont put any product in my hair besides some texturizing spray or dry shampoo the next couple days to freshen it up.

      @@Indigoeagle21 I have a mini dryspun finish spray from bumble and bumble that works fine ($15 but has lasted me a long time bc I dont need to use a lot)! the prêt-à-powder by them is also nice (again dont need a lot). just anything to fluff up the hair again. dry shampoo and re-curling some pieces normally does the trick though.

    • @jennmorrison4070
      @jennmorrison4070 4 роки тому +9

      YAS GIRL I was coming here to say exactly that; if you don't have that wave, dutch braids bring the volume/texture closer to the root. I also spray Ouai wave spray and a gentle hairspray into my hand and coat the outside of the braid, helps hold the wave even longer. Then hair oil on the very ends for extra protection where I need it.

    For my girls with straight hair that don’t hold heated curls, I highly recommend those long foam rollers (not the old fashion pastel pink ones) these ones come in different lengths and widths, and are flexible. I spritz my hair with some water, not too much, start at the end and spin to get your hair wrapped up the whole tube, then twist both ends until they’re in a little bun. Do that with al your hair in small sections. If my hair is dry before I do this, I can have perfectly natural looking curls that last for DAYS in like 2 hours tops (to put in, then dry) and if my hairs damp from a shower, I do over night and get the same results. Completely changed my hair game and actually lasts bc if I use any form of heat on my hair, I end up with just a wave at the end of my hair and the rest is back to being straight af. Anyways, I’m gonna post a tutorial of using those foam things on my page, but you can find them anywhere (beauty supply stores or amazon)

      Mara L a quick fix for that is to spray a tiny bit of water back on your hair! Let it stay for a minute and then comb through the curls with your fingers! The water lets your hair be open to restyling again, but only where you want it, I do that near my roots to around my ears so the curls arent too voluminous at my scalp lol

    • @aliviascool
      @aliviascool 4 роки тому

      Mara L taking them out while your hair is still kinda damp can also let the whole curl relax before setting, but of course, different strokes for different folks lol

    • @aliviascool
      @aliviascool 4 роки тому +1

      Mara L daaaang I hate when they do that, take a good product and make it hella expensive when it gets popular. But I love the variety of curls I get from the foam curlers, I also use the large old fashion curlers for more pin up style curls but it’s harder to use those since my hair is almost down to my hips, but thank you for the suggestion!

    I'm such a huge fan of this method. Helped me grow my hair out 12" in 2 years (lob to waist length). Spend 3 minutes doing braids at night and voila - instant heatless base for a few random curls in the morning. Spritz of Oribe or Ouai texture sprays and you're golden. Saves time and hair health! 10/10 recommend to anybody looking to grow. Not to mention it's a protective sleep style!

    Hey Desi! A faster trick to your curling method is to just wrap the entire strand of hair into the curling iron, then when you release you pull the strand down completely to stretch out the curl, hold for 3-5 seconds, and VOILA! This is probably faster and more efficient than doing it in 2 sections per strand of hair. Hope this helps and makes sense! love ya xoxo❤️🤗

      It does seem that way doesn't it? I have thick coarse wavy hair naturally so the styling process is actually more time consuming for me than the blow drying process. I've used this technique before a lot. Particularly in HS when my hair was more curly naturally than wavy like it is now. And it actually is a time saver. Even though it doesn't seem like it is!

    Literally and the days the curls decide to look super amazing are always the days no ones gonna see them 😢 and then whenever I really need my hair to curl itself in a good way it decides to suck haha

    My hair is wavy like this now bc i have ruined my curl pattern sm with bleach lol.
    When i was younger I absolutely hated how curly my hair was, used to always straighten it. Now i wash my hair, let it air dry and roll my waves.

    have you ever tried to get a keratin treatment? i just got one done cause my curls never came back after bleaching and i’m loving it 😭 my hair was just limp and frizzy now it’s just smooth and straight

    • @jenniferdelgado2834
      @jenniferdelgado2834 4 роки тому

      Is it limp though?

    • @SteffyRodriguezAgredo
      @SteffyRodriguezAgredo 4 роки тому

      Jennifer wafflez what i meant by limp is that i went from having CURLS to having scraggly barely waving limp strands of hair, now my hair is sleek, if you meant FLAT then technically yes but i have super thick hair and volume has never been an issue, my hair looks more pin straight and flat to my head than i could ever get it before but i honestly don’t mind cause i hated how much volume i had

    I tried this out and I am obsessed!! I never have ever liked my natural curl. Even though I wear it curly I always straighten it before curling it as my hair is frizzy, boofy and basically always looking like a birds nest.I never thought to braid it to help unify the curls and even though this method does use heat it’s so much less than what I was using before (so I’m gonna take it!!) Thankyou!!

      Doesn’t work the same! Results dont last as long, and kind of defeats the purpose of braiding to air dry. Might as well use a hot tool

    • @alinavolkova878
      @alinavolkova878 4 роки тому +8

      I personally just think it takes a little too much effort because it's hard to make sure your hair is thoroughly dried. the inside parts of the braid are hard to get to with the blow dryer.

    this is definitely not the EASIEST way to get NATURAL curls, I just tie two braids and don't use heat, maybe try doing that instead of 4 braids to get more beauty waves :)

  • @joelledaou8405
    @joelledaou8405 4 роки тому

    I didnt understand why put it in braids and then use the curling iron on all the hair again the next day. 2x the work. Just curl it with the iron. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ so much work for a natural look.
