Pearl created this 7-Piece Reference Pure Shell Pack by choosing intentionally thin plies of maple, birch, and rare African mahogany. All shells are 0.9mm thick instead of the easier-to-construct 1.6mm shells found on regular Reference sets.
These particularly thin shells resonate more freely than thicker shells, giving you a bigger and clearer tone. To further boost the resonance, the drums are equipped with low-mass STL Tube Lugs and Fat Tone Hoops that are designed to minimize any dampening that could occur.
The blend of wood types brings out the best qualities of each - strong maple helps keep volumes loud, birch pops out all the high tones and gives the drums more articulation, and the mahogany emphasizes low overtones for the deep and boomy floor toms and bass drum.
Glad you added that extra minute on to the video so that it appears to be longer than it actually is. Nice touch.
Finally a demo where the player hits the drums hard. Sounds lovely!
Finally someone with a 7piece set !!!!
Beautiful kit!
Sounds great!!
Nice playing!!!
I've bought a reference pure beautiful drumset can't fault reliability and quality they truly are a flash drumset a class of there own worth every cent you'd never be disappointed with pearl drums from beginners to medium n top of the range kits like masterworks and reference I can honestly say pearl has the name people get caught buying cheap drums if you want a great 2 hand beginner drumset pearls the choice like I stated it doesn't matter what level of set your after there all solid as a rock as the saying goes buy it once play it for life that's the quality of pearl instruments as for myself a fine musician I would like to personally apluad all the skilled workers at the pearl factory in Taiwan who built my reference pure set in the stunning scarlet sparkle burst it truly is a work of art and China all do a great job in producing fine drumsets to be played on for many years to come keep up the fine craftsmanship pearl 🎉
Glad I bought this kit. Amazing sound and quality as usual.
I added an 8" tom 2 weeks ago. The best kit I've ever owned.
What a monster kit! And with the rock sizes, it kills even more!
I didn't know before that Pearl can do even great sounding kits ! Until I first watched Jeff Wald wit THAT LOVELY MASTERWORKS pieces ... now this one ... 🤟🖤
My names Alex, I also live in DFW, and I just bought a Reference Pure last week. I checked your site and it says that a 4 piece is 3600$... I guess I got a pretty damn good deal because I bought a 6 piece Ref Pure for 1700$. It said it was used, but I don’t think it was, maybe it was previously owned by the guy never played it. The bass drum pedal guard doesn’t even have dents from a pedal being locked on. And the stock heads have 20-30 hits on each.
So far, this kit is making my pants grow. But those ebony heads seem to give a much nicer warmth than the stock heads.
It would be great if stores could do demos with POWER TOMS. We are still a part of the drumming community. We are never represented.
🤣 I love this comment.
Rock sizes, I LOVE that. Hardly any company makes a stock kit with a 13" tom!
Absolutely Beautiful Kit and Sounds Great would love to get one of these 👍
Nice kit, nice playing.
that kit sounds amazing, holyshit!!! I'm a big fan of the 13 inch tom
+Ceci Shaw Me too! I love these sizes.
@Ceci 😂😂😂
Love your drumming style
mmmmmmm love the band dude
I'd like to start buying this Pearl set the tom toms sound awesome.
beautiful kit. I heard this kit live and had to go out and try one/ I caught some crap, but I sold my Sonor ProLite kit to get one of these bad boys. Love em
Really? OOOH, big mistake in my opinion. But, if you like 'em........
@@barberbob22354 pearl and Tama will always be the best drums ever Sonor nowhere near Tama or Pearl he made a great choice.
Lone star... my school had us buy our snare stands for our pads from Lone Star
would love to hear a 22x 18" compared to a 22 x 16" Man I am seriously thinking of getting one of these reference pures.
What stand are you using for the small tom and the other really small tom ? I'm looking forward to get one ,i really like that set up
Personally I'd crank the snare up a few turns
simon L sounds about right
Hi sounds great!what mics did you use on the kit
How did you guys mic the kit? Number of mics, type, etc.
Thanks!
Was that bass ported?
I have the same drum set but in turquoise
mariolette Felicien how do u like em?
What mic setup was used to record the kit? I only ask as there were no clip mics on the toms for instance in the video.
+Mark Duffy AKG C414 XLS and Shure SM57
+Soundclass Oh cool thanks
Lindos dimais show
Where's the cymbal description guys?
This review only focuses on the DRUM SET only. Cymbals are not part of it. Unless the cymbal comes with the package, they'll list it up.
+Konrad Uychoco
But be said that the cymbals in this video are listed below.

What hardware do he use?
Pearl

WANT
Buddy of mine has a 7 piece and I've never been able to understand why he needs 7. I thought my 5 piece was almost too much when I bought it.
I guess if you need more voices on your drum kit. I've been using a 3 piece kit for a while and I find more challenging since this forces me to be more creative in terms of voicing stuff or using dynamics.
Tudor Marghidanu Good point. I've used an 8 piece and 7. Felt so cluttered and overwhelming. Just too much for what some people actually play. Looks like they don't even use 75% of the kit! I like to think I can play a good show with my current 5 piece haha.
JoeDotPHP i play death metal alot and its useful to have variation
I had a 13 piece Tama Imperialstar and I used every bit of it. If your playing 80's glam metal then the bigger the kit the better. I also had bells and chimes to replicate what they were playing. Nowadays I use a six piece I like to have the 8" tom probably a throw back from my earlier days but it's more than adequate for Country Rock. The Minimalist set is something new in recent times.
The main reason is because each genre needs a different drum set size. For Jazz, you would need a smaller kit (since the playing is typically more chill). For something like Death Metal, it’s nice to have more options since metal can be fill-heavy
Or he just had a lot of money and didn’t know what to do with it
Beautiful kit!! The only thing I would change would be the heads, those emperor ebony sound way too dead for my taste, almost no tone at all, I would put some Evans 360 G2's or EC2's on top and have a beautiful resonant full tone sound that way. I see no point in spending a lot of cash in a pro kit like this if you're going to muffle the sound with ebony heads and kill all the tone and sustain that characterizes the drum and thus makes a beautiful drum sound. Just my opinion.
Nelson Rodriguez we have a Evans fan.....remo all the way bruh
Remo Vintage Emperor clears would solve the tone problem.
nelson Rodriguez nice
Nelson fuck evans heads !!! Remos are the best heads more durable then anything evans .
@@erictorres4889 🤣 who is talking about durability? Did I mention that? Better learn to read first and then throw your dumbass comments brah. We're talking about SOUND here ok? Bye...👋
its very
American, podari drums
Sounds too “electronic”. I’ll stick to a Roland td1
TOO MUCH MONEY!!
