“Oh look at those birds they’re mating..... oh there fighting?..” 😂
The videos are getting so much better man. Good job
I really enjoyed your message at the end. its very easy to get discouraged but when you keep an outlook that maybe something from a subpar shoot can only help you get better, it makes it a better experience.
Portra and Pentax 67 - So good!
You have been my go to for film photography and I enjoy your videos. Thanx for this message because, as humans we can be our worst enemy. I sometimes like I made a huge mistake getting into this craft especially at my age. Then I have to remember not every shot is going to be perfect everytime. No matter who you are, pro or newbie. Thanx again keep making the videos.
Damn dude, I moved away from Norcal for a job a couple months ago and your video made me so homesick for the nature and coast. Beautiful scenery and shots
Dude the first 30 seconds of this video alone made me speechless. Some next level stuff bro i love it
I love landscape photography but haven't been doing any since 2020 but watching your video which your photography is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking can't wait to get back out if you can do some waterfalls would be great to see its my favourite photography thank you
Keep it up man, good work, nice video, wonderful format
I can't wait to get back to the Valley and explore with my Pentax K 1000 SE and get some Black&White. Gret videos, inspiration indeed.
Let me run along this cliff edge with the heaviest camera I own! #PentaxGang
Really great video! I actually really like the first long exposure you took! Also those drone shots🔥🔥
Loved the empty swing shot. That Portra really coming together there
Actually really dig the 10 second exposure, the gloomy vibe is its own thing. Photogs always chasing that golden light but this is beautiful too. I’d buy a print of that one in fact
I concur with this statement
haha, the homegirl roasting you. she's funny. love your videos, man. picked up film photography these last few weeks and your videos are teaching me a lot!
Hello King. Just across you nice video. I liked your honesty and demeanor towards landscape photography. Definitely not similar to street photography. You have there a great camera, a legend. But a camera doesn't make photographs as you certainly know. The main ingredient for a good picture is the location, the weather, the LIGHT, the lens, your vision (point of view, composition, knowing not only what to include but also what to exclude from your frame), a good tripod that could hold that beast, good techniques (know well you camera), and the last but not least ingredient is LUCK. Said that, I have a couple of advices derived from your shots here:
1. In landscape photography, handled is a no no. Tripod is you first main equipment.
2. Set you tripod only a very end, after you have chosen carefully your point of view.
3. Avoid like hell using the central column with the Pentax 6x7
4. Use a handheld meter to meter the scene(a Spotmeter or an incident depending on the situation of the light, if contrasty use a Spotmeter). Learn as much as you can on the benefits of each one of them.
4. After having composed your shot then wait for the light, wait and wait, only when you got the right, that you meter, and transfer quickly the info to your camera and lens, then shoot (cable release always).
5. Always use the MLU on your 6x7 if it has one, which I suppose yours has, unless it is the very first 6x7, the last 6x7, the 67 and 67II all these have MLU.
6. Never clean your lens on site, do it at home, or in your car. Do not clean directly your lens with a cleaning paper first, use an air blower first, it is only after that that you clean with lens tissue, to avoid scratching your lens if any dirt there. You have an expensive lens there, Man.
7. Always put the lens cap after taking it from your camera. The cap also need to be kept clean.
I suggest strongly to learn the zone system, very easy to learn. Good books , and UA-cam videos put there.
This will help you get the most of a Spotmeter.
You got some good shots out there, the light wasn't in you favor, I know, but again what is good light? Often dull days are excellent for B&W, when you look for not contrasty sceneries, to reflect calm, serenity, with strict minimum of elements in your frame.
So much to say, but if you think the all the ingredients are not there, especially the light, myself I won't take the shot, just admire the scene, look for good spots to come back later..try to plan in advance for location and weather..Yes Landscape photography is a very slow process, that's the beauty of it, because you will feel that you are making, building the final picture that you envisioned at the first place, it is like building a house, you need a good location for your land, an architect plan that knows what you want to house to look like at the end, and go through all the construction steps, to get your final house. In this process, they will be errors, that's how we can improve ourselves..
I love very much your spirit, and what you said at the end of the video. I also respect your honesty and being so candid, as someone else said here in the comments. I wish you good experiences and joy with your landscape photography.Thank you for sharing your landscape photography trips. Take care King.
Love this style of video man, looking forward to more like this!!!
Amazing drone shots dude!! Love your stuff
Dude the last photos!!!!
Great video man keep up the good work...
I've had bad experiences shooting Portra 400 in that cloudy hazy light like in your first composition, you managed to pull something nice out of it. Cool stuff.
So much professionalism. Thanks bro!
The photos are great man! Location was superb!
hey man, gotta say of all the youtube film photographers i like your photos the most. i really liek that you have a different delivery style to other people as well.
Try slapping on a polarizing filter might help kick colors up a notch especially the clouds.
holy moly dude, that intro! great work man
Awesome. I haven't seen many videos using film photography discussing harsh midday sun. I find myself in harsh midday sun a lot and struggle.
Oh and gloomy rainy overcast.
Great video. They are helpful.
@1:45 - my man out here looking like death stranding lol, great vid fam
Amazing shoots man! I gotta get out to the coast!
I prefer the moody vibes with the waves crashing. It speaks to a different story.
If you come over to Pacifica again, check out the Devil Slide Bunker or if you're in a mood to hike, check the Nike Missile control site 51 for a cool abandoned building graffiti type of look.
Loving these bro! Keep it up
I actually loved the pic at 6:00
At 9:14 are you using a McDonalds bag to cushion your camera in the trunk?
Also dang that color pallet's so consistent between shots, do you color grade them or is that straight from the scanner?
Awesome video! Btw, what backpack is that? Looks pretty cool
Awesome shots!
Great video.....what light meter app you use?
I listen to Bedroom too!
Just got Nikon D850. Going to try a landscape shot then edit with mastinslab portra presets.
Wow you scared me being that close to the edge of the Clit.and also, having the wind to blow your camera over the Clift.
Bob Lee Virgin.
Not to be confused with the word Cliff
13:20 - respect to you for being so honest, candid and real about this. Seems like photographers avoid talking about this topic altogether but disappointment is a very real part of the game of being a photographer. Well articulated.
I agree 100% with you. I like this guy, and I am sure he will succeed in Landscape photography. A big change from street photography he is used to, but I am sure, because of his mind set, he will get there, and get used to the slow process.
Awesome fieldwork🤩
that swing shot really came out nice!!
Beautiful photos dude, stay safe.
The Swing shots were 🔥
Righty tighty, lefty loosey!
Looks beautiful, great outing
You were making all those gems on imovie?! Can't wait to see what you create now
Bro. The very first landscape photo you took ( @2:46 ) needs to be a print... I'd buy. That photo took me off the earth.
It’s nice to have friends tag along.
shheeeeesh
Awesome location! I just shot with a Pentax 67 for the first time and made a review but not as cool of a location as this
Stepping up your game with that drone!
Not mine! It’s my uncles!
nice intro @KingJvpes!!
Nice video man keep it up
you made me really nervous seeing the Pentax at the edge of the cliff on the tripod in this windy weather!
Don't let that heavy 67 fall down from the cliff. It would cause a huge Tsunami :D
what backpack are you using and how do you like it? gear review?
Do you use the built-in light meter?
The fire costco windbreaker! 😂
You missed a really good spot. Thornton State Beach! There is a path down to the south where you can walk on the old Highway 1 Road/Cliff. Kinda deadly but amazing scene.
Are those 1907 Red Wings?
Ohmagawd maface
if you can,go to Vietnam.Go to "Bach Ma" mountains it's beautiful.
That little tripod with the P67 on an extended column. Why not just handhold it for all the good that rig will do??
Hello! Fellow Filipinos! 😁
I was so worried that the camera will fall off the cilf then I realised it is a 67, it probably wouldn't fall
Even if it would fall, it probably would survive the fall... that thing is a tank :D
im not gonna lie i was really nervous that you were gonna accidentally bump the camera and knock it off the cliff
What is buck speed
Ya new video
I think you are being too hard on the photo's. Put them away for a few weeks and look again. Sometimes I have been so critical of my work, I didn't like something until years later. Great video!
We gotta link bro bro
hi guys
Brooo 😭 I went to Mori point last month. Y’all needed to walk up the big hill!!! Missing our dude That view was spectacular!! I shoot film in the bay as well. Add me on Instagram @sammilicious
