Admitted Seiko fan boy here. Love Seiko, just wish they would up the stats a bit. Even $100 divers come with a sapphire crystal these days. They also really need to update the clasp. My mods are like Seiko the way they should be, including the price. Great vid man!
I like Seiko. There's a good reason that so many producers copy their designs and use their movements. However, I'm beginning to think that they're copying Invicta's pricing structure. That is to say that, in my opinion, if you pay more than half of Seiko's MSRP, you simply aren't getting a good value for your money. If they would at least standardize sapphire crystals, ceramic bezel inserts, and milled clasps, I'd feel better about it. But in actuality, at the $525 price, there are honest Swiss autos available that I would rather have.

Not going to lie I was scrolling UA-cam and saw the thumbnail and thought "WTF is up with the massive crown on that Seiko?" Your ring got me for a second 😂😂
This one to size - you place the pin in with the thin end first, opposite the arrows - and the trick? You place the collar in from the outside above the arrow and use a big punch to to slide it in and around the pin - that’s how it’s done. The collar resides in the end link above the arrow, the other collar is t a collar, it’s the thick end of the pin - thus the thick end resides in the end link opposite the arrow and the actual collar needs to be pushed in over the pin above the arrow.
I have a King turtle last month and I think it was a most stylish dive watch with such an affordable price, and the most watch's enthusiasm wanted sapphire crystal come with the "candy" magnifier day and date displays window, plus the ceramic bezel , new design grenade surface dial, 200m water resistant, screwdown crown and the very wearable silicone strap....all the bells and whistle in one.
Now that's a turtle to purchase. I do like that one, but Citizen is my goto diver at the moment, but others in the seiko range I'm looking at. SKZ211K1 is my next watch, but it will only be purchased after my Africa trip. Thank for your review and time sharing this with us all. Take care brother.

Very difficult, found a video where his trick was to use a ball point pen on the side of the collar and whatever you used the initially drive the pin out. Have to push at the same time to drive pin in and keep the collar from popping out. It is without a doubt the hardest bracelet to size
Got one 3 weeks ago. The jewellery store I got it from tried to adjust the bracelet for me unsuccessfully. They had to take it to a watch maker/specialist. Thankfully he sorted it.
The turtle is an iconic Seiko design, but I simply don't like pillow-type cases. I'm more of a fan of Seiko's original diver, the 62MAS, and their horological terror, the Tuna. I do like the colorway of this watch, though. Now if that colorway found itself to, say, the Monster, well...
Seiko really need to start using sapphire crystal and lose the pressed clasps on the bracelet some aliexpress clomages have much better specs for a fraction of the price
Like most Seiko's, the head of the watch is great but the bracelet is just meh. I bet this one would look great on a blue or green tropic strap...nice watch and vid...
Nice watch but adding a saphire crystal and milled clasp and maybe a ceramic bezel would add, what, a $100 to the price? I would pay the extra $100 for better specs.

they're huge companies that have actual design departments, marketing, and they pay their people a living wage. Chlomage brands have zero overhead and most of the time even manufacturing costs. In other industries I've been a part of when the lights get turned out at the factory a group comes back in and turns on the machines and make their brand... ton of specs for the money with chlomages but I'll pay more to support a company that has way more skin in the game. appreciate you watching, my friend.
@@cheapwatchman_official Seiko and citizen, even entry tier Swiss brands outsource to lower cost Asian manufacturers for parts. My Citizen Eco Drive Promaster was made in Malaysia. It's a great watch, but when they ask nearly $300, it should have sapphire. Don't try to tell me that the sapphire crystal on a sub $500 "Swiss Made" Hamilton, for example, is made in Switzerland. I can see a price discrepancy, but three or four times the price without such a basic modern feature doesn't wash. This applies most to Seiko. The Citizen NY0086 you recently reviewed is still competitive even with mineral because it's awesome and they don't gouge like Seiko. But in 2023, the flat sapphire crystals in standard sizes could be had these days in bulk purchase at well under $10 each. Today, I consider it a must above basic level.

I had some I used for reloading and one of the tips broke off. I also don't consider myself a watch reviewer all though reluctantly I'll probably be buying another pair of calipers and a time grapher.
it's funny that you say that. I've heard that from others as well. Anecdotally, I've recently had 6 seikos in and none had a single issue. I've had 3 San Martins and every single one of them had something wrong with it. I actually have a Tissot with a misaligned bezel and bezel pip. Actually going to try to do a warranty on it
It’s the internet echo chamber. Somebody says ‘QC issues’ and people with no personal experience of any issues jump on the bandwagon. It’s not just with Seiko and it’s not just with watches.
@@drummerboy1390 completely agree but, when I’m spending that money (granted, not a ton) I do expect that the little things line up. I understand a cheaper bracelet or clasp but, I’ve got very old analog watches that hit every mark and they’re, quite honestly, cheap junk.

I’ve stayed away from Seiko because of their recent QC issues. That’s not to say I don’t have a ton on wish lists everywhere.

You should review Loreo watches super value a lot of watch for the low money they work great and has many high end features
