The 2022 Lincoln Navigator Is A Pleasantly Updated Flagship Luxury SUV

  • The #LincolnNavigator was the first American large truck based SUV when it came to market back in 1998. #Lincoln gave the #Navigator a magnificent redesign back in 2018 and it created a world-class luxury SUV that could challenge its rival Cadillac and even a few European luxury brands. For 2022, the Navigator gets extensive changes to keep it fresh against the redesigned Cadillac Escalade and newly introduced Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The result is a more competitive entry that offers even more luxury, tech, space, and refinement to justify its six-figure price tag.

LOVE that the Lincoln has door handles that you actually pull and interior buttons. Some of us don't want all this touch screen b.s. everywhere in your car. Good looking vehicle!

Such a beautiful suv. It looks so clean, exterior and interior, unlike the Escalade that has a bunch of cuts and super small third row windows. The column gets on your way and makes you feel super uncomfortable. Lincoln also has the best third row seats with plenty of legroom, plus they recline, and you have easy sliding access through the second row. This is a refresh unlike the Cadillac that is a complete redesign and this still looks so much nicer. I love how they hide the door handles and how everything is symmetrical, and how the second row seats offers the center consul. I have a 2017 Navigator L Black Label, I’m considering updating to this refresh.

  • @triplecanopy5364
    @triplecanopy5364 2 роки тому +10

I'm still driving my Navigator L from 2011, only 100K miles; it goes like the first 100 miles with no significant repairs and unbelievable comfort. Do have the air suspension and every available option, don't think you can beat it. Look forward to purchasing another, but the Premium Gas requirement is a tad of a turn-off, but then again, we don't put a lot of miles on ours to worry about it. ELectric sounds excellent, but towing distance will not be possible for a long time. - 6 seconds, don't see the need in a 6000lb vehicle. Remember that is about a Porche 911 time in 2000. The first curve, forget about sports handing. Mileage ratings on the Ford Lighting are about 300-350. You can cut that in half with any trailer of significant weight and spend most of your day driving at charging stations. Love the new seats, but the old ones aren't that bad, still better than 90% of new cars on the road. S ze, room, seat room are still the same as in 2011. 5.4-liter engines are known for going quickly 200K with all your maintenance. Ye s, 11 years, I blacked out my chrome with vinyl wrap; Lincoln needs to drop some of the big chrome panels. T at style was dead 10 years ago. Still, the best riding vehicle I have ever owned and the most extended vehicle ever owned. T e self-driving looks poor, but as with any other car that I have rented, it seems the technology just isn't there yet, buzzers, seat vibrations, lane veering with any manufacture. O er $70K back then, amazingly with the excellent condition and maintenance and 100K miles can still get $20K plus in today's market. N t terrible after 11 years of use. Good help with my next purchase. Thanks for the great review.

Navigator definitely is the top choice between the Escalade Sport Plat(best exterior) and Grand Wagoneer. Reasons why:
    1.better mpg
2.better interior materials, hard to find cost cutting materials in the Nav vs all the plastic touch pieces in the Escalade.
    3. better reliability
    4. Better service department(Jeep is the worst of the three)
5.no air suspension to fail after 50k miles. Air suspension is overrated and has many leak issues. This is why Lexus LX uses hydraulic suspension which on average last 85k miles and is easier to maintain.
6.I found after driving all three, the Nav to be the most comfortable and have the quieter interior.
My take on it, the Escalade is a Peacock SUV for those who like to be flashy and the Wagoneer is weirdly boxy and the service department is not a place to take $100k suv to when you’re spending that kind of money and Jeeps have horrible reliability, so having a bare bones service dept. and expecting a higher level of service is not going to happen. Escalade is great upfront but the 2nd row is very cheap when compared to the black label Nav. for the same money. The trend of big oled screens is actually more distracting, not a fan. Just my .02

Always liked the Navigator. Actually prefer this model when compared to Cadillac or Grand Wagoneer. The exterior on the navigator is a stylish vehicle but my number 1 priority is the interior. The interior on the navigator and other Lincoln vehicles just gives you that luxurious feeling. The only low point, in my opinion, is losing the V-8. Having an 8 cylinder just gives you a better feeling than a turbo V-6.

I kind of agree, always felt like something was either missing from or needed to be added to the exterior design of these. I do like the tail lights of this slightly better. One thing I don't like right off the bat is no exposed exhaust tips in back, or even duals at all. Lincoln went a little overboard on the extra chrome of this "chromed" trim level too, makes it look a little dated.

Skip the Range Rover, had a 2007 HSE that put off retirement off a year. Always in the dealer, with long waits for parts, and then back again, they would even scratch their heads. Got to know the general manager so well in repair almost had him over for holidays. Still in the basement of JD Powers and Consumer Reports 15 years later. Yes, they look the best, but you will be driving their least expensive small SUV as your loaner than your vehicle. In addition, no storage room, no square feet. Range Rover, Ford, and now Tata (India) who have owned them, can never get those British electrical systems correct. Worst vehicle ever in 50 years driving. Worst entertainment syncing with phones terrible, screens go out constantly.

I'm not sure if the Escalade neighbor just got bad luck with a lemon, but seeing what he has gone through, if I were in the market for these behemoths, I'd defintely go with the Nav. Nothing wrong with the Nav yet, but the Escalade seems to have been in the dealership more than in my neighbor's driveway. I haven't asked too much about it, but I do know he had problems with the camera system (none of them worked, or wouldn't show on his screen) and the cruise control, which also effects the Caddy hands free driving system, whatever that's called.

One thing I personally hate wether it bothers anyone else or not is when the headliner is a tan color or grey and from the bottom of the pillar down to the carpet is black . Ok black hides the dirty footwell yata yata yata but it’s so much nicer when the headliner is the same color whatever that may be . If you get in most actual high end suvs like Bentley , Lamborghini , Porsche the headliner is always matching . Even Audi offers matching headliner these days if you choose specific packages . Tell me the giant Pano roof isn’t enough to make it bright airy enough to not have to use light colors up top . I like the suv as a whole it’s great for huge families who can afford it . They are missing a mini fridge like the new Escalade ,Lexus LX and Jeep Wagoneer have . The 38-inch curved glass display is wrapped and hand stitched in real leather. It rests inside a wood panel with intricate details. The dash itself also bends with the curved display. From a-pillar to a-pillar, neither of those truck’s front row comes close to that of the Cadillac Escalade.

Not sure if Cadillac gives an option to delete that but I've never seen one in a review with matte finished woodgrain trim. The gloss immediately makes it look old fashioned to me. The seat design and overall seat comfort in the Lincoln is mildly superior to me too. I like it interior wise, but am only in my early 40's, so I would need that Black Label Special Edition Package, to blacken the roof, get the black wheels, etc. For me, that would young up the exterior some. It does offer second row ventilated and massage seats, something Caddy Essy doesn't offer, even in its highest trim, as of yet.

The 2nd and 3rd row in the Navigator is hands down better than the Escalade. The 2nd row has the thickest, most plush seats in the segment. The Escalade has definitely come a long way but its more driver centered and doesn’t offer much for the rest of the passages. In my opinion there is no perfect full sized SUV yet. I’m in my early 30’s and find the Navigator has a timeless design. If they replaced the chrome stripping inside for LED lights and allow for map access in the digital gauge cluster I think it would be much more competitive. I would also like to see Lincoln do a full chrome delete on the special edition package especially at the $6,700 price point.

Although Lincoln theoretically added second-row massaging seats, they are currently not available due to the chip shortage. Hey, Lincoln, maybe if you stopped worrying about building cars for the Chinese. you'd have enough chips to build fully functional cars for the U.S. market! You ARE an American company after all---at least as of right now!

The Navigator is on a very archaic platform and architecture of product hence you don't see soft close doors, electronic door latches, non carpeted side cargo trim,, etc. Designers and engineers missed the mark on attention to detail for the interior.

I assume an update, my wireless carplay does the whole screen, there's an expand icon on my '23 Navigator. The luxury is best experienced in-person. The 28-speakers are superb. It's a fantastic, six-figure luxury yacht. Nothing wrong with the Cadillac, but I just like something more unique. This has the buttons for what I want, I don't need to use the screens constantly. The ride quality is great. I did upgrade the tires to Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive tires and matching front tint.

I've own a 2018 Limited QX-80, and love it. But after seeing the reviews of the Navigator. Thinking about switching over. Looked at most of the competition. Escalade, Waggoner, Lexus, Range Rover, and for the price, and what you get with the Lincoln. Definitely leaning toward it. The Escalade is nice, as id the Waggoner, and others but all have a higher price point. I've owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and had a lot of trouble with it. So the Waggoner is definitely not in the running. Especially for its price. Great review.

This is what luxury is supposed to be. No gigantic over abundance of screens. Horizontal dash with no weird contour lines. Tons of leather and chrome, luxury features and technologies. Easy to use interface and lots of physical controls. Giant storage space under the center console. It’s a great luxury vehicle. Wish it was a bit roomier like a Maybach or a Bentley, and wish there was no plastic on the doors and console, but otherwise they did just about everything right. Now they just need überluxury versions of their lineup to go against Rolls Royce.

The Navigator is still my favorite SUV overall. It’s got all the luxury, but it stays more traditional and elegant. It’s not trying to be a spaceship by throwing new electronic crap on everything that doesn’t need it. Jeep and Cadillac are trying too hard. I’ll stick to the OG Navigator!

Overall, I love the new refreshed 2022 Lincoln Navigator. I am very disappointed that Lincoln will not offer the PowerBoost Full Gas Electric Hybrid Option for the Navigator. I feel like that Lincoln should have given the customers a choice to choose from. I hope that now with the current crisis going on in Europe along with gas prices soaring sky high, that Lincoln have a change of heart, and offer the PowerBoost Full Gas Electric Hybrid Powertrain as an option for people who want to try to get better gas mileage. But otherwise, I think Lincoln has a very fantastic job on the refreshed 2022 Lincoln Navigator!

The Navigator has aged really well, which is not an easy feat for a big vehicle. The interior still impressed, most assuredly. It is more luxurious and polished than the Escalade, but a smidgen behind the GW in overall polish, design, and materials usage. But I LOVE the fact that Lincoln allows so many color combos on the interior/exterior. That said, Lincoln not offerings rear sunscreens, tablet screens, soft close doors, and air suspension is not inkeeping with the high lux desires. And at $115K loaded, it is missing a few key details that others offer.
As for Active Glide, it definitely needs to bake a bit longer. I remember when car enthusiasts lost their collective minds when GM delayed Super Cruise twice. Now we see why the delay was necessary. GMs system is really good and has gotten even better with recognizing construction zone sudden lane shifts and other issues.
