If you're after longevity of the drivetrain and power system, of course running on only 4S will surely help. I like running my Kraton on 6S most of the time. Yes, the drive pins in my rear diff sheared recently and also split a planetary gear in half but there are upgrade options such as CNC cut hardened steel gears, metal diff case, etc. and better pins but the Kraton on 6S is just more fun for me. Different strokes for different folks. I like that white unbreakable body though.
I picking up a kraton tomorrow with a 4s pack. Down the road I'll eventually get a 6s pack. Nice driving skills. I don't jump my RCs at all because it always ends bad.
Always run 6s in my V4. Maintain the diffs. Rebuilt 2 only, in all the years I have owned mine. 4s does put less stress on the drivetrain, although I do like the 6s power and torque. Everything wears out, in time and dependent on use, but nothing excessive. Maybe it’s your driving style and or skills. If your good with 4s stay with it… take care.
Ran 6s for almost a year on my kraton no issues on the truck I do backflips and all sorts of things and the diffs are still holding strong and I've been in this rc game for almost 20 years me and my kids love it ,even if the diff breaks it's not expensive to fix. that's why u buy them at hobby shops to rip apart and rebuild, And I also have the 8s kraton now I did brake the upper control arm 20 bucks and there u go problem fixed. real rc enthusiasts like pushing the truck to the limit novice rc people probably should stay in the 9.6v or a Walmart type rc vehicle y spend a grand for a 6s rc if u aren't going to use it as it's supposed to be.
Eh. I've been running my Mamba 3800kv Stampede 4x4 for 6 years. It's a full beefcake with Tekno driveshafts and all, and I prefer to run it on 2s over 3s. To each his own. This guy is very happy on 4s.
Yeah with upgrades and spending almost a grand i want it to be as fast as advertised. But to be honest i use a 6s Lipo but mostly drive my Kraton at 75% throttle which can be changed on my Spektrum DX3 transmitter
@@wallacengineering8096 You can just limit the throttle to do the same thing. Higher voltage is more efficient, so it would make more sense to use 6s with limited throttle than it would to use 4s

There are ways to get the Arrma Kraton 6S truly set up and ready to handle 6S without so many drivetrain issues. Some people even run 8S on these smaller 1/8th scale versions. However, there are some steps you need to take to properly prepare a Kraton for this power level. 1.) Look up how to shim the diffs properly, so there is minimal play in the drivetrain. 2.) Install Aluminum Bulkheads and Center Diff Support. This will eliminate the slack in the drivetrain and stop the diffs from being able to shift around because plastic is of course plyable and is never 100% accurate. For the Diff Boxes/Bulkheads, go with Vitavon, which uses a much higher quality material with tighter tolerances than others on the market. Once you have eliminated the excess slack in the drivetrain, the Kraton will handle 6S just fine. The issue is mistakes in manufacturing and too much excess slack from the factory because of Arrma's poor Quality Control process.
I ran my outcast on 4S for the first year or so. It was fine for skate parks and smaller areas. When running in larger areas, it really ran out of legs for big jumps and whatnot. Been running 6S in it for a couple years now. I don't use the stock transmitter, motor or esc anymore. I have my punch set down low and I don't try to do standing backflips with it. I haven't messed with the diffs in a year or so, but I only drive it 10-15 times a year since I have other trucks. When I do run it, I'll run 2-3 sets of packs through it. I don't break much on it anymore, but it is pretty built up now.
That's very good I am not a pro So I prefer 4s, when riding 6s I feel u can't completely in joy it or how we say tear it up, cause anything can happen, wheels can explode, rims can melt(I've seen it happen) different can over heat and get ruined, things like that But if a person is ok with changing parts or investing in making it more solid then I understand
I equally enjoy working on the cars and driving them. What you are saying is true of all RC cars. They all "fly apart" on the more powerful batteries. The Kraton 4S, in particular, has too much power for many of it's 3S parts. It's an extreme example. It will "just break itself" from the power every 3 or 4 uses as it comes out of the box on 4S, or you can just run it on 3S and it will actually be a little more durable than the 3S cars but slower. I LOVE my "Mini Kraton", so I've spent $300 upgrading a $400 car with a metal rear differential and some other thing modifications that make it stand up to the 4S power in a durable way now. Any car is going to last longer and break less on the lower power batteries, and wear out parts faster on the "big battery". So this is true of all RC cars, if you want it to break less run it on the weaker batter. 4S cars can run on 3S, 3S on 2S, and 6S on 4S. If you are happy with it on the lower power batteries, you are also preserving the parts and wearing them out a lot less quickly. A Kraton 6S is so well built that running it on 4S is likely to make it last a long time between part failures. I plan on getting a Kraton 6S next as my first 6S car, and I plan on using it on 4S at lot of the time, and 6S if I take it to somewhere for jumping or just feel like have it "on turbo". I kind of do both things... preserve it with weaker batteries, but still use it on full power sometimes.
Have you tried getting a lower burst in your 6S Lipo? Like a 30C burst with still having 6S Power. The initial burst that the car takes off is what you seem to be explaining. I have a Kraton that my son uses and he was breaking stuff all the time. I went down to a lower burst 6S 5000MAH 30C Lipo and wow, No more breaking by squeezing trigger to fast. If you have 50C 0r 100C or even higher , from my understanding. that is how fast you get the power to the wheels. Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed to fix our problem with our son.

If you don’t have to have that explosive power 4s is still plenty of power.

Appreciate the positive comment The reason I use 4s and not 6s is with 4s u can go wild without any consequences, but with 6s for example if u would hold the trigger stick constant, u would end up blowing up the tires and that's one of the reasons I choose 4s
I can say why I won't drive anything but 6s and it's because when you jump on 3s if your going to land on the roof with 6 s I can prevent that just accelerating on 3s you will just land on the roof but I don't know but I have not broken a differential
Meanwhile I'm running 8s on mine? just adjust punch control and make sure you have weak-points that are cheap to fix.. and also... on most controllers you can set throttle to 50% max and boom you are pulling what a 4s can deliver...
I have a kraton 4s , and if i run it on 4s lipo my rear differential will rip off, i only drive with 3s now. Arrma tough . Traxxas differential is much much better. I will sell my kraton en buy a traxxas max !

Personally I like running 6s setups on 4s lipos. Less breakage, less heat, just as fast with proper gearing
