Apparently it's cannon that they knew Ogryns would be too stupid to pull the pins, so the boxes are full of fake grenades

@@not_a_samsquamsh6777 Nah, they're not fake. There's a perk you can get where they'll explode if you hit a special with them. Besides, if they had just wanted to give the Ogryn a throwable and realized that normal grenades wouldn't work, they woulda just given them a brick or something.
Ogryn weapons are built to be way bigger and clunkier than the mechanisms require because they know that they will inevitably be used as bludgeons.
Bigger machinegun is always useful, it work better as club.
Watching for turncoats? Regarding Ogryn?
My sister in Imperial glory, if there was an Adepta Sororitas and an Ogryn in a room and you told me there was a heretic in there, I'd suspect the Sororitas sooner than the big man.

They follow every command given to them as if it was passed down the chain of command all the way from the Golden throne itself. They cannot understand, or question orders, which makes them the most loyal of servants... until the ones passing the orders turn heretic that is.

The ogryn grenade is really just such creative game development. Makes so much sense lore-wise too, just perfect

Also Ogryn: Has access to a grenade launcher so good it doubles as a club that can Falcon Punch...

I think it's more of a too many triggers kind of deal
It's easier to teach a ogryn to not stick a finger in a barrel then it is to teach them count downs
But yeah they probably have to pad the hell out of the expensive weapons to make sure gron doesn't break it on some choas Marines face

@@hmroid6884 The old Only War TTRPG had rules to play an Ogryn. If an Ogryn character used equipment without the "Ogryn-proof" attribute as a melee weapon, he had a chance to break it every time he used it. And they couldn't use normal human-sized guns at all because the trigger's too small. Ogryn guns notably all had the Ogryn-proof attribute.
@@magni5648 it's not even a chance, it just happens full stop lol. (to be fair tho regular frag grenades also have the Ogryn-proof attribute. I think The Funny Box is a classic case of Ogryn genius: "why throw one grenade when I could throw ALL grenade?"

In this game, they exceed dogs. Which is admittedly kind of a low bar to clear since the only dogs you meet are horrendous mutants who pin people and maul them to death.

So _that's_ why your Ogryn character only counts his fingers up to four and looks confused when he gets to the thumb during mission load times. Neat detail.

Going to be fair, lore Ogryn are far dumber than the one in darktide though. Even if this guy is a bonehead, he seems leagues more intelligent than how they're depicted in canon. While not smart by normal metrics, he has pretty good objective awareness and his conversations are on par with a slightly underaverage intelligence human, not the drooling 5 year olds they're depicted as in lore.

also they have a shield that legit blocks the bullets lol and the highest health and shield pool anyways besides they can rush a sniper and the grenade gauntlet our their big machine gun has more then enough range

I genuinely believe Fatshark just need to hire more devs and delay shit more. What we have outside connection issues is top quality.
i genuinely barely have any connection issues i crashed like once in prob 100 hours or so and had my que fail maybe 2 times
@@BackroomBandit Meanwhile I’m having connection issues constantly, either input lag messes me up or I get disconnected from the match five times before the end of it. Idk what’s happening, but my PC is connected to my router through an ethernet cable so it’s nothing on my end
The fact that you pretty much disrespected the Demonhost and killed her with an Ogryn Riot shield so easily left me laughing so hard. That part of the video alone made my day already, considering how much those things terrify me since I currently play Darktide as a Guardsman named Anna.
Fun fact if you aggro the assassination targets you can use the exact same strategy! The shield's special block is pretty nuts!
the slab shield is pretty bonkers. if you brace with the special action you have unlimited stamina. that combined with the fact that daemonhosts will only target the person who first wakes them up means it's really the only "safe" way to fight them.

Fun fact. Lvl 10 perk called Bombs away makes it so when you hit an armored enemy with the box the grenades fly out and do Boom.
Box is just most fun throw-able weapon.
Ye. Being able to bonk and instakill enemy Ogryns on unarmoured headshots is both valuable and satisfying. Bombs Away is a sweet bonus for collateral when you bonk Ogryns and when you need emergency explosives and got some armoured enemies.
