The DS isn't a very common position in vball so i personally wouldn't have included it in a basic explanation. I think it would've made more sense to explain the different roles a position will play depending on whether they're in the front or back row. For example, the outside hitter is responsible for hitting and blocking in the front row but has to guard the back side of the court on defence while also being ready to hit back row attacks when they're in the back row
While True its still a position. This video is about the positions
I think in a video like this it makes sense to have it. You see DS a lot at beginner levels so that both those who play DS and those who play Outside have less responsibilities to focus on.
I started as a DS and then once I learned how to hit and block well I moved to playing opposite.
it’s usually common on lower level highschool teams that try to include every teammate so it’s helpful for those who may be trying out
This is the best and most concise video I have found on this so far. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
i only know libero as nishinoya ,middle blocker as hinata and setter as kageyama....
Hmmm :)
Then you probably know Tsukishima as Middle blocker, Daichi as Defensive specialist, Asahi as outside hitter and that bald guy as opposite hitter
@@playing_panda7570bald guy lol
cant remember that guys name@@cubexyz_

i have a question that might sound stupid but why do they assign players a specific position if they're going to rotate?
Because setter is a very difficult position when he is in back after serve he goes to front row and not everyone can set
Its reverse there was rotationing, but not everyone could play every position so they made special positions which they take after your team/opponents team has served. Like not everyone can Set and not everyone can pass like the Libero and most Liberos cant Block as they are short.
at the time of the serve, players must be in the right rotational position, but as soon as the ball is in play, the players will adjust to their assigned position. This means that you can put your best hitter at OH no matter what the rotation is. You can put your tallest players at MB, too. it allows coaches to build the strongest team but still follow the rules of rotation / position.
@@DavidNitzscheBell i get it now, thank you for taking the time to explain it to me
Wich positions are good for a rather smaller person? (175 cm)
thats not SO small libero or setter
@@BishowAcharya-0except these?😭
@@emreozdengiz1234the only other positions are outside and opposite unless u want to play middle. I’m around the same height and play opposite
Your height isn't enough to determine your position. You have to learn what you are good at and what you want to learn. It's just that being smaller means you might have a bit of a disadvantage for certain things like blocking and reach but that can be made up for by increasing your vertical jump, timing and game sense. I would choose something that u enjoy or something that fits your playstyle rather than deciding it on based on your height.
I want more videos bro pls do upload
I've planned a lot of content. It'll be live one by one. Very soon
@@volleyballnerd thank you
I only knew what Libero was
Where's wing spiker?
outside hitter my haikyuu friend I was confused too in the beningning
Outside hitter. It’s different in each country. We call it the open in the Philippines, or dos (2) since that’s their number based on order of players. Not everything is haikyu
wing spiker = outside hitter
Ok
Hmm :)
Great ❤❤❤
I'm shit at defense so definitely not Def specialist and not libero I could probably be setter or opposite hitter
why is the setter in the back row in this video... I'm confused
Since the setter runs to the front row after the serve anyways, it’s easier to already have 3 hitters in the front row so your team can get more hits in and the setter has more options
U forgot servist specialist
I'm the middle and everybody even couch is telling me that when setter can't get ball i need to set is that true tho
no, it should be right side or libero. middle should never set
@@ricefarmer464 Thats not what i was told
@@Niksiprovt look it up, google will tell you the same thing
@@Niksiprovt def the libero never the middle
Are you sure that’s where the setters are? 💀
wdym?
@@colewhitcombe4605Setters are at the Right side of the back row when they are back row and when they are front row they are at the right side of the front row it lets the setter move much less.
@@kerem061 oh okay, thank you
