I am an American. It is never too late to apologize & it does take courage. That apology was pathetic. The win for Johnny helped women everywhere. Abusers are all alike; women are told that if we leave no one will believe us. The husband to a certain generation of women may have control over the funds it takes to leave. This verdict proved to every terrified woman that she does not have to be rich, she does not need the abuse on video. This showed that juries and Courts are willing to listen, and they will use their common sense. It was a win for all who have been abused. Dan Wooton owed us a better apology. He does not get grace yet for this.

Dan Wooton is only grovelling now because he got cancelled and is trying to come back and uncancel himself. He still hasn't apologised. That was a non apology and it solves nothing! He's very disingenuous and needs to write the same amount of articles he did, when he was defaming Johnny, with an actual apology, detailing how he was deceived by Amber heard. Stop attributing his sorry excuse for an apology to Wootton having 'courage'. The only reason he's even hinting at an apology is because he is trying to generate followers for his new show & re-invent himself after his latest scandal. End of story. This is purely a business decision & it is clear that Dan Wootton does not feel a single iota of remorse or regret for his very active role in destroying the lives of others, including JD. Wootton delights in it. I'm pleased to see so many ppl are able to see straight through this charade.

Wotton needs to apologise properly no matter what the consequences are. He was quick enough to splash it all over the front page of the sun so should be quick enough & man enough to give a straightforward honest & sincere apology not word salad meaning Jack all. JD lost 2 very high profile & high paying job because of his article & he's never going to get them back & people will never forget the front page or the court case & in some peoples minds because of both JD will always be regarded as a wife beater regardless of the US verdict. JD has lost so much, not only in money terms but more importantly in respect & reputation & deserves a newspaper full front page apology from Wotton. Like for like.

Im very happily married now. But if any of those people offered an apology, because they now know they made the wrong choice at that time, then i would accept it and move on. As you say, there is far too much nastiness in this world to dwell on the past and argue until you are blue in the face, making you upset and unhappy. It is much better for you and everyone else to just move on. Draw a line in the sand. Live life & be happy! Im sure Johnny is 🥰💯😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧

I think a lot of people were taken in by AH plus people tend to only think that it is the male party that is always guilty when that is not always the case. Now Dan Wootton understands what it is like to have an ex causing problems. Whilst the apology won't change anything, it is admirable that Dan has put his hands up and said that he was wrong and apologised.
Personally, I don't think that Johnny Depp employed the best legal team in Britain either - certainly not on a par with his team in America.
I know from experience what it is like to have an extremely toxic (now ex thankfully) husband who was all sweetness and light in public but behind closed doors he was totally different. It took me a long time to get away from him, he still has some of my stuff but I have replaced my entire record collection with CDs and I am happy living alone and trusting very few people. Friends have made attempts to match make but I am just not interested because I am not putting myself through that again.

Fool me twice, shame on me", am I holding onto a grudge because I believe the same person continues with the same character and I don't want to be: hurt, embarrassed, physically harmed, stolen from, etc., etc.?

Dan put out the apology. How people receive it, is up to them. Especially Johnny Depp. I am glad to see that there are still people out there, learning from their mistakes and atoning for them. Let's see how Dan responds next time such a situation arises. It takes tremendous courage to be honest with oneself and then fess up to it in public. Fair play to Dan and we'll explained by you.

I'll tell how I received that non-apology. It was not an apology, especially when he prefaced it with "I don't want to upset Amber". Wootton has learned nothing other than self-preservation. He takes us for fools when he says this is an apology. He is looking at redeeming his career, especially as it will now rely on online audiences. He needs subscribers, he needs clicks, he needs advertising income.

Dan Wooten had his "come to Jesus" moment when his own ex made what apparently were false but crazy accusations against him. It makes his "apology" even less sincere sounding to me and I'm not sorry for him having to now try to rebuild his own career. On the other hand, I've rarely seen the kind of courage as was displayed by Johnny Depp in laying his whole life bare, the good and the bad and allowing it to be televised. I think he helped countless people recognize and hopefully do something about their own toxic relationships.

Here's how to do it: contact JD, say 'I apologise', don't expect an acceptance or gratitude, simply leave it at that!
No need to be public, we were not involved, merely an audience with our own views, a possible outcome though unlikely, is that Johnny might have told the public at a later date, they call this action, humbling oneself!
So, move on, sort your life out, we Do not need to know, it's between you and Johnny, not us, the end.😊

It's sad that it took Dan Wooton the experience he has recently had to reflect on his own behaviour. I haven't heard the apology, but I did hear him speak a bit on Wooton Outspoken, and I turned away. It is difficult to take in someone's apology when that person then moves on and goes into full attack mode on somebody else. That's incomprehensible to me and makes me not like that person. Yet that doesn't mean his apology wasn't genuine.

I've just had to distance myself from a crazy situation that's al kicked off with a supposed friend. They are going through court proceedings and told me last year some of the ins and outs of it. Its horrendous. I only talked with my partner about it as told was ok by the other person. That's it. One of their kids confided in one of mine at school as they were good friends. A number of times. And after their kid was upset about something they discussed, they apparently went home upset. After speaking to the parents the one who informed me of the situation utterly lambasted me screaming at me over the phone that i must of told my child about the court case and i was destroying their life. I said at once that no, in fact THEIR child started to talk to mine ages ago about this. Even told them details I didn't know about. But this went doen like a lead balloon ad none of them had a clue it seems. More anger and then claims I was lying... How dare destroy their life... Even gone to school to purpotrate me as the one at fault and other things... Now I'm not only wondering what on earth is playing out but because they did this after promising to pay me all the money they owe and now blocking us and not paying me any of what's agreed I am left wondering also did they do this strategically. I've tried to rectify it and to no avail and the school rep advised me to cut my losses and seriously consider if they were actually ever our friends in the first place. It's more in depth than this but you get the idea. So yes, I know how anger and upset can affect and plague people. But keeping hold is not the answer. We have to cut our losses and move on. Sad as hell, but it is simply the truth. Vengeance usually solves nothing x

#Mentoo - To me it's not an apology - he is defending AH still. He is not taking accountability for everything that He himself took action on to write in the SUN. Despicable things that wasn't facts. An apology must be sincere not apologetic towards, in this case AH. He is saying that he has been thinking of this because he has been through it as well....never compare your feelings with somebody else's. JD is still going through the BS from certain people, so that would be since 2016, if I'm counting right. Dan loves to talk bs about others without any facts. To hurt other people with lies, is exactly what he is doing. Michael Jackson, J K Rowling etc. I don't believe that he understand the severe damage he has caused. He is talking about the UK trial, which he is the reason for, but excuses that with AH testimony, just some word salad is what I can hear. If he would make a written sincere apology for everything that he wrote/did to JD that would be more worthy, to me. To hate someone that you don't know personally is not rational. To hate takes so much energy from things you could do instead. I dislike Dan for what he has shown that he is. A coward, a liar, a bully, has no empathy & he doesn't do his homework before he talks/writes = bad journalist. My opinion. Thanx Daniel for expressing it so thoughtful & wise & for sharing this.❤

My gut feeling is that Wootton is only apologising to try and improve his own despicable image, knowing that if he can win over the Depp Community he would gain a lot of support. HOWEVER, he blatantly and deliberately went after Depp with nothing but malice and was responsible for the "wifebeater" comment that Depp will have to live with for the rest of his life. The apology does not undo what is done and it WILL not ever earn Wootton any forgiveness or reprieve! What would have happened if Johnny didn't have the means or strength and integrity to stand up for himself? Wootton just picked a fight with a much better man!

Well said. Just as it takes the ability to step away from your views to be able to forgive someone, it also takes that ability to apologize.
Neither will change things, but it needs to be done to move on.
It's easy to say there's a lack of sincerity, but credit is due for realizing mistakes made and addressing that publicly.
Most people, given new information and experience, wouldn't knowingly repeat their mistakes, nor would they have made them in the first place.
Don't forget he wasn't the only one taken in.
We all have moments of incredible hindsight, and a person shouldn't be disparaged for acknowledging that.
What's past is done, and nothing will change that. You can only go forward and try to do better. And the first step is in acknowledging your mistakes.

His condescending & patronising behaviour was evident during his insulting attempt of a weak apology! A big no for me. He came across disingenuous. Dan Wootton took advantage of the interview with Meghan probably hoping to quick spin some PR damage-control, to minimise negative perception. Failed apology for sure. An insult. When I heard DW's apology, I thought to myself he's not apologizing to JD. He's apologizing to himself for ever getting involved in the whole mess because of the karma he now received from his ex. And, he's also forgiving himself for all he did. That's what I got out of his "apology." It had nothing to do with JD. And I agree that for any "normal" person it does take courage to apologize, but this is not courage being shown. It's him covering his butt so he can resume his "career" IMO.

JD went for it knowing that the whole truth would come out, yes he had some questionable language he used in regards to Amber but anyone who had ever been in an abusive relationship will know full well how hard it is to always behave correctly. I was in an abusive relationship, in the midst of his rage he threw me to the floor and I fell against some plastic storage boxes that were stacked up, I stood up and kicked him in the crotch and he backed off from me. Was I proud of kicking him? No. But I had had enough and snapped, I had endured nothing but verbal, emotional, financial, physical and sexual abuse from him for such a long time. It's been 15 years now and I still have horrible, dark thoughts about him, I can understand why JD felt the need to vent to his friends, the things he said about her were nasty but it is so very hard to be perfect when you're in the midst of such depravity. You're both in that black hole, the perpetrator and victim.
