The video for Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake beats this by a couple years (2001 vs 2005 for this video) for "first reaction video", that's the earliest example I can think of.

As always with Conor Oberst, there is so, so much in those lyrics, even though it's "just" a romantic little song. Such an evocative song about how a new love makes you feel new and changed and accepted. And what, to me, is saying "Yeah, don't wait for what looks like the superficially perfect person and don't be afraid if not everything magically falls into place immediately, but make it work and work for it to become the love of your life."
It's definitely wholesome. But the word is so overused. It's not as naïve as that may sound to some people.

Yea. They had a showing in NYC to film couples reactions to the song.. some real artsy NYC lower east side early 2000s/late 90s stuff. So y’all got it on point with your feels… it is in a car commercial right now actuallly. Like Hyundai or something. Love this tune just as much as I did all those years ago. Great reaction guys… also I think this video was filmed in 04 and released in 05 so almost 20 years old.. it was on I’m wide awake it’s morning which was released in 05 as a double release with digital ash in a digital ern(also a cd)
this song on the album brings more happiness than the others which kind of balances the more cynical ones. great song, great album

Y’all should picked a different bright eyes song that you hadn’t heard. This one is far from the best
