Although this is a new release, this is actually a re-recording of an old song of theirs. The original version of this song came out in 2000 and it sounds different. The band did put out an album of new material in 2020 called Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was. You might wanna give the original version of Haligh a spin, or try a track from the 2020 album.
This song is from "Fevers and Mirrors" Cool remix but that album was untouchable. "The Center Of The World" one of my favorites from that album. Cool reaction, peace!
Lyrics and delivery is great
There’s no way that goth chick doesn’t secretly love bright eyes
The orginal is a completely different song. It's much, much, much better. This is just a re release. Not how it was really meant to be heard. It's more for people who are already fans.
Back in about 2004ish...I cant really remember very well all these years later...I had a girlfriend who sat me and my buddy down to listen to Bright Eyes "first day of my life" and "at the bottom of everything". My buddy loved it, I was beside myself with dislike for it, but it somehow wormed its way into my psyche over a year or so Id hear it here and there, and eventually really started to love it. Although Im more into 60s skinhead reggae, punk, and hip hop I still go back to some of the more indie stuff that I became obsessed with after coming to terms with my love for Bright Eyes all those years ago.
To this day my favorite singer/songwriter is David Bazan...someone Id have never listened to without that fateful Bright Eyes introduction. They opened me up to the entire genre that I would stupidly point and laugh at previously.
As much as I love this companion remake version the original is where it’s at.
just saying this is an awesome review, but this being one of my FAVORITE! songs by Conor you need to listen to the original released I believe back in 2002
their old stuff is so good
Listen to the original from fevers and mirrors!
As a bright eyes fan I thought the line up was great. My 20s encapsulated
Good song, amazing tune, SUPER REACTION 🤘🏻 Congratulations and my total gratitude to both of you 😬🙏🏻☺️
Partially my jam!
y'all should listen to desaparecidos! maybe manana or greater omaha. it's conor oberst from bright eyes doing emo-punk. which is probably more in ur wheelhouse
I definitely like the studio version much better.
Not the place to start with BE!
I saw them in another festival and they were actually really good. I have been a fan for a while so I knew they do have more energetic songs, but also they do give it a more rock sound. They don't really play the more melow songs on stage that much. I was dying for the song Lua and I know they have played it in more spaced out festivals with a more calm vibe, but it was a rock festival so they didn't. I think they do have the self awareness to play what fits in the festivals they go to.
I came to your channel cause I watched your BMTH Kingslayer react and wanted to see if you ever reacted to more Babymetal. To my surprise I find no more BM but a reaction to a classic indie emo song from one of my favorite albums from my teen years. Only to be disappointed it’s not the original (and much better) version of the song. But still cool vibe to your channel over all. Like y’all’s dynamic.
We do still need to do more baby metal. Thank you for the compliment 🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼
I’m a Bright Eyes fan, and personally I don’t see how this fits into the festival. I don’t like any of the other bands except Car Seat Headrest…
Please react to something from the Digital Ash in a Digital Urn album. Slightly rockier, more experimental and to my mind criminally underrated.
Gold Mine Gutted - sad, strung-out electronica
Take It Easy (Love Nothing) - the cynical twin to First Day Of My Life
Easy/Lucky/Free - heartbreaking end of the world anthem
Down in a Rabbit Hole - a wild ride of a song with probably the crunchiest guitar solo you'll ever hear in this sort of music
New song. Lol.
The original is better but this is a cool version of the song.
Not the companion 😭 go back to the OG one.
huh 1st time hearing this weak version of an amazing original. too bad.
Sounds like you're listening to lock up muddy down version of the song or something go listen to it off the original album I mean you don't have to but
Agree with the Beetles vibe. I like his vocals but not so much the song.
That sums it up pretty nicely
The original is better
Yeah the original ones more raw his voice is kind of crackly I don't even like this version
I like the musicianship, but this not my thing.
If they separate the stages properly it will be fine as far as the sound not bleeding into other stages.
I personally due like a lot of mellow music and enjoy going from a mellow band to a heavy band. It's a nice break from heavy.
id suggest listening to stuff from the records "Lifted" "Im Wide Awake Its Morning" and "Cassadaga" to get a better context of what bright eyes does if youre curious. If they had a "golden age" id say it was that extended period personally. As a Bright Eyes fan i cant wrap my head around them being on this line up they put a heavy emphasis on almost conceptual albums so theyre an odd band to listen to singles from to a certain extent as well
