I'd always wondered how to despawn that hammer brother because I've seen sword only and pacifists runs that do it and or damage boost through, but I've been playing this game through so much here recently that I almost always have spin slash at this part...the thing is this game is really not that unfair, you just have to memorize the patterns to really get through the final two acts.
Wow I love that there are only a couple of us helped by this info, makes my revisiting the old NES and this game in particular feel a bit more special. Yes this is helpful, I've had the game on pause and playing a little bit here and there for weeks, been stuck here for at least half that time. Bring it on birds and guy with deadly crucifixes and very little room to share on your precious shelf. Those fucking birds take three hits for criminis sake. Yes, like the mushroom.
You can walk straight and the last guy will jump over you. If you walk straight you land on the lower platform without having to jump and slash. Both clearly work though. Although I do jump slash the bird.
I knew how to do it before watching this video. It seems like the only way to breeze through any Ninja Gaiden game is to figure where enemies are going to respond from and when are they going to respond based on your position in the level. It's very gimmicky.
This is the only surefire way I found other than e.g. using jump and slash powerup to be safer. But there may be guides elsewhere that do it differently.
I got stuck at that place yesterday 🤣 After trying everything for hrs I just duck under the eagle. Mind you the guy on platform disappeared automatically 😁 Edit: Oh! So he fell without me knowing it

When I made a play through I always just jumped up and hit the last bird. I never knew you could duck

There's really only 3 hard screens in the entire game.
It's challenging. Part 2 and 3 and hard
