It's so fucking Rufus Wainwright, nevermind rock & roll, to not cut out the Annie interlude from his show just because he's going to be performing on a stage where the majority of the audience won't be fans of his, or get it. Either way, came to look for what clips from his show were up because he'd posted on Facebook how when he got off stage he found out about the Roe v. Wade decision which reminded me of how he'd been scheduled to perform at Hillary Clinton's victory party, which never happened of course. The morning after Trump's win I'll never forget he posted a short clip of him doing "Going To A Town" acapella to express his feelings over what had happened the night before.
A fun start and then a deadly serious song and message delivered by the amazing Rufus Wainwright. Especially poignant at this crucial time for the USA and the rest of the world.
He previously had stated that his mom told him as a kid after seeing Annie on Broadway that boys sometimes played the part 'ala Shakespeare, and when he found out this was a lie he was kinda crushed.
Dang he has matured into a gorgeous man…..I’m a lady so appreciate beautiful men (I know he has a husband) but he is still a hunk 😉😉😉and that voice is spectacular❤️❤️❤️
Barry. So why you on here ? Obviously searched for Rufus Wainwright. I’m heterosexual but am not at all bothered by his campness. His idol is after all Judy Garland. Amazing tune is this.
it was hilarious. He'd said earlier on in the set that as a young white boy, his mother had lied to him for years saying he would able to play Annie on Broadway. So this, I guess is him allowing himself to do what his younger self always wanted to do. The rest of the show was incredible too, amazing voice, great songwriter. This is the second time I saw him perform at Glastonbury, and both times were incredible.
@@JohnsysChannel Spot on. Plus he’s always had Judy Garland as his idol. Some blokes probably thought “ what the fuck”. Just knew it would all eventually lead to Going to a Place! Tune. Hasn’t he been involved with Broadway shows ?
I was there...went down to see Rufus cos I love him and have seen him many times across the UK...I'm sorry Rufus but your whole set this year at Glastonbury was a massive disappointment to me ...You gotta pick the hits at a big festival like this otherwise people just get oh so bored ..and I did...and so did many others...But that aside I will still go and see you and still love your music...These things happen, it was just the wrong numbers...
He was just fucking about. He’s done and I think doing another show on Broadway. He mentioned Annie earlier in his set. Not everyone’s cuppa but the way it led to Going to a Town was incredible. What a tune.
For me, this was the best set at the whole Glasto festival. Rufus is a great entertainer. What a voice. I love the guy.
His voice is out of this world.
Mr. Wainwright’s vocals are undeniably astounding. To have a voice as your instrument? Superb. TY!
Great set by Rufus. The Annie medley leading into the blinding “ Going to a Town” was belting.
Perhaps he’s as bigger star as he is happy being, but he’s a name every one should know. Phenomenal singer, excellent songwriter and performer.
I love Rufus, his voice is fantastic!

Yeah, I wish he wouldn't be so political. Not everyone likes Hillary Clinton.

OMG ORANGE UNDIES 🤣🤣🤣
George Michael version!!. 😍😍😍
No, it's the Rufus Wainwright version.
No it’s his version.
George had a brilliant voice. But for me this is the definitive version.
