Thanks for this amazing video!! I just upgraded my JLU's front speakers. Your video made me confident that I could do it myself!!! Please make more videos like this!!!
Thank you..Thank you...Thank you...I’m sitting here today just finishing up my box build, and looking at moving on towards installing the Pac amp pro in my JTR...along with pulling the dash and sound bar..this video will be very helpful!!!
Great detail. Cool to see everything tore apart. I was trying to just do a speaker swap in the soundbar. For some reason I lost power to the left side of the soundbar only. Seems like there is a main wire feed that goes into the soundbar then towards the left side then junctions and a feed goes to the right side. Any ideas why i lost power to drivers side/left speaker only. Only thing i can think of is I broke something lose in that junction. Thanks.
Thanks for the informative video......say, I have the same issue with the smaller 4 inch sound bar....how or where did you get the template to cut out the 6.5..?..what about the knee speakers in front...?
Very helpful video many thanks for posting. QQ.... I'm getting ready to tackle this job and I want to run new/better speaker wire to my sound bar. Did you run your new wires for the sound bar on one side or both sides (one for each rear channel)? Thank you!
I've been using this video as my bible for my upgrade. I want to run new wires from the sound bar down to the under seat amp. How did you remove the trim on the passenger side, so I can run the sound bar wires down? thanks
If I simply want to upgrade all 4 speakers in the front while swapping the 4in knee for 6.5 in do I need to add the amp pro module? I want to temporarily update these 4 speakers 🔊. Will eventually upgrade sound bar , amp and subwoofer down the road.
Thanks for this guide. Did you have any issues with the small opening on the "knee" panels? (4" opening/grill and 6.5" woofer behind it) - does is vibrate the panels?
Hey bro i did the upgrade but , i take my cables for my converter straight from the soundbar and then run others wires from the soundbar speakers to the amp , but my problem is, the stereo shut up the speakers and my amps don’t work, do you know why?
Thanks for the video. I couldn’t tell but which factory plug did you use for the new speaker? The plug for the 3.5 or the 4 inch? When I ordered the adapter I was sent metro adapters to connect to the 4 inch speaker and it sounded like crap. I moved to the 3.5 and it’s better but lacks low end.
I used the wires from the 4in but since I ran my own wires through out I only used the wires that’s in the sound bar so I didn’t experience any sound issues
This is very helpful. Thank you. One thing that h a s me confused since I am going a slightly different route...did you leave the OE tweeters on top of dash connected? I am going to go coaxial on both soundbar and kick panel while upgrading the theaters as well but I am wondering how that works up as 4 channels and not 6. Note: I havent ripped the dash out yet so maybe its obvious once I do. I am hoping to run new wire to each speaker as well. Thoughts? Thx!
peeklay I left the front two tweeters hooked up to factory amp because my tweeters were a lot smaller than the factories . It actually worked out pretty cool IMO because they come on when the truck isn’t fully started so in run mode only the factory tweeters play until I start the truck completely then everything else kicks on.
@@TheGreaterThanClub got it. Thx! I will see how mine comes along. Rewiring feels like the right move (you gave me the idea) but its also a lot of work. Ha
@@TheGreaterThanClub ahhh okay I’m getting ready to add subs and new sound bar with 2 amps. My concern is PAC AP4-CH41 (R.2) not supporting multiple amps.. Factory amp Speaker amp 4 channel Monoblock amp for subs
@@AlbertBrotherProductions you can buy rca splinters to send the signal from The pac to both amps the issue is it will be full range signal so your sub will play audio as well and not jus bass notes. I would look into the lc6i or that pic series in general to s the which fits your setup mends best
@@TheGreaterThanClub I’ll look into that! Last question as I’m trying to wrap my brain around all of this.. would the LC6i be in replacement of the AP4-CH41 or would they work together?
So it’s a bit ambiguous: which wire is positive and which is negative? Also, do you connect both sets of wires to the speaker or only one set? It would seem that one wire was for mid range in the other one was for Twitter so if you’re using to a speakers now, which set of wires do you hook up?
That would depend on how your overall setup. I ran my own wires so positive and negative are based on how I had it hooked to my amp and my signal output is a full range signal. So the relative wires in the sound bar only matter how i use them. I’m running components so it needs a full range signal. If You are just replacing the speakers you would hook it up exactly how it is from factory because the signal is still being delivered the same.
What did you do with the wire for the 3.5”? Did you bridge it into the wire for the 6.5”? I have the 8.4” alpine system and am trying to figure out if it wouldn’t be just easier to get a 6.5” with a tweeter to keep the factory wiring separate as it was stock
. i did some of my own wiring with the OE harness that went into the back of the head unit. The wires are bad for the front speakers (where i tried to amplify it myslef) should i be replacing the pins in the connector? or will the pac audio help?
If you are running a multi channel amp you can get audio from 2 channels and run new wire to the front speakers but it really depends on your overall setup
The Broke Billionaire yea i finally got mine to work i installed a ds18 jl soundbar in my jl but since it was a non amplified vehicle i no have the front speakers playing n can’t use my voice control :/ kinda sucks
Positive Polarity is always Extended or Outward Movement !!! Not Inward Movement .. For a DIY Guy You did an Awesome Job Sir
You are a very courageous but tech savvy man! What I learned the most out of the video is that I will pay a pro like you to do mine!
Eric Parisien lol thanks it was for sure a lot of work
thanks for showing it step by step. usually people show the finished product and say what they just did

Impressive instructions. I'll check this one out again when I replace my speakers.
Thanks for the detailed video. I will be keeping the stock size speakers due to the information I gained from your video.
Thank you so much for this video. Now I got a much better idea of what I'm getting into on my next weekend.
Amazing job such detailed explanation thanks brother!
Thank you for making this video! Came in handy for getting things apart!
Thanks man for this video!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m about to install something very very similar to your setup in my Wrangler JL!
Useful video but for those of us who are a little gunshy and just starting out, it would be helpful to see the panel removal, even if just sped up.

That was a lot of screws. Great job
Thanks and yea way to many
Guess the poly fill helps here more now that the sound bar becomes a closed box ?
Yes exactly. Slows the sound waves to make the space seem larger making deeper sound
Nice video, very helpful when I get around to upgrading from the factory "upgraded" speakers. Was hoping for a sound test at the end though, dang!
Right, please do a follow up video!

Can you tell me the exact number on the 4 inch to 6.5 inch speaker adapter for the wires? Best K can make out is 72-4314

Hey, do you know if I am able to run two amps with the PAC audio? A 4 channel amp for my speakers and a mono block for my subs?
Did you have to plug in the two smaller harnesses together for the amppro and are you still using factory sub with aftermarket one?
Are you talking about the 2 little white connectors? And yes I still had the factory amp hooked up
So was your amp powering your subs and speakers or do you have 2 amps?
Amp powering both I had a 5 channel amp

The original wires are irrelevant because I ran my own wires. So since I ran my own wire I didn’t need the 3.5 w because my wires send a full signal
Did you have to install resistors on the speakers?
No the LOC I used does it

Yes
Can I use the PAC audio amp pro if my JL does not have a factory amp? Or is it only to work with or in addition to a factory amp?
Erik Malzahn you can use it. It works for both options

Thanks!! good catch I went and updated the info in the description since I cant change the video.
Man it is hard to find the right stuff on line just to upgrade speakers.
That silver sound dampener, is it needed?
no its not needed but it quiets the cabin from outside noise and vibrations. Its actually a pretty noticeable difference
Lighting is terrible. Can you shake too much?
Insulation is all you need .
And say good bye to the horrible sound.
Thats a joke , jeep cant even put insulation at the speaker box..50k car WTH✌️
Get a tripod... damn near had a seizure watching the beginning of this video 🙄

If you're that prone to seizures you shouldn't be on UA-cam let alone driving in general.
