I had this when i was a kid. My grandpa bought it for me at the Western Auto.. I still see it sitting on the shelf in the store. thanks for sharing this.. good memories.
I've never seen those before UA-cam. But Im from Scandinavia, I guess they weren't sold in Denmark. I remember the Matchbox model cars, my little brother had a lot of them. I'm a girl so I never got any, but I played with my brothers toys lol
"YOU" Sir, are the Rembrandt of Tonka vehicle restorations!!!! As a child, they were my favorite toys from Santa. It is a sincere pleasure to watch you "meticulously" bring these vehicles back to their...better than...original condition. Kindest regards, Ben
@Lyle Grandersom BRAH????? grown men down call people BRAH or BRUH. The thumbsup/down is for the video. using it because someone doesn't like advertisements doesn't make a damn bit of sense..and that's what UA-cam red is for. no ads. but thanks for the heads up.
Another fantastic & awesome restoration done by a brilliant & expert restoration master!! Thank you for rescuing these beautiful toys & giving them new lives
I think you should show more of cleaning. For example, how the rust stains were removed from this white interior. This moment when you take it of from cleaning solution, how you cleaned front grill, how you cleaned rubbers :) i think this will make video better because it will show better attention to detail and how much time it took to clean everything :) this will make even better impression :) but great video :) relaxing to watch :) greetings from Poland :)
That's amazing. Gives me hope for my old childhood Mighty Dump, which my mother used as a garden planter for many years after I grew up and moved away...
My grandad used to repair or restore other people's toys about 40 odd years ago. And one day he told me of an old tin yacht he was repairing and on taking it apart he found a rolled up piece of paper inside. The paper had been hand written with the date of 14 August 1920, It then went on to list the cost of a house and the weekly wage of the average person plus the price of individual items that made up the daily shopping. When he repaired and put the boat back together he also put the list back in the boat exactly where he found it. Watching what you do just made the connection. Have you come across anything like this in your restoration work?
Cool story! The only thing I've found in a toy was an old padlock stuck in a Doepke fire truck I'm working on now. I did find some old 60's matchbooks and sunoco leaflets under the package tray in my 64 Chevy, that was pretty neat!
@@joe_diy . You should put your name and date of restoration in your work, That way you will have left something for future restorers to check back on especially if they end up in a toy museum.
No wonder I couldn’t tear these things up when I was little. Did you see him struggling to take it apart? He just started gripping and ripping. Holy hell!!
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia, another very good restoration and I have been watching your restorations and I have subscribed, looking forward to your next one, Regards John
@hawkturkey to tell the truth, I'm not sure that the value always moves in the same direction. I mean granted, original in good condition is always most valuable. But some of these restores really seem like they widen the potential base for resale to make the tours worth more. I suspect that like any other antique, the connoisseur will keep looking for that well kept original, while people with fond memories of their favorite childhood toys might be more likely to purchase this guys after than his before
you did a great job restoring the ambulance.
Great job

These guys that give a thumbs down obviously don't appreciate the time and effort here. Great job.

That is so cool! My wife had the same truck as a kid. It's now at her mother's house. She was so happy to see this being restored. 👏😁👍
It’s a stunner! I can’t believe you just had the perfect spare window piece lying around!
Yes, and how could ,,we,, rescue the original one, was it too gone? Couse its a problem not only by this one(

I'm going thru your older videos, and I can see how your skill and completeness of restorations has really improved over time and various projects!
Came for the Tonka Jeep, stayed for the sandblasting. My brother had one when he was a kid. Nice to see it restored.

This was the greatest iron toy ambulance that was ever revamped.
One of the finest toy automobile restorations I have seen. Bravo!!!
That's amazing. Gives me hope for my old childhood Mighty Dump, which my mother used as a garden planter for many years after I grew up and moved away...
You are lucky! After I left, my little brother used mine for a chamber pot next to the bed. Gave a whole new meaning to 'Mighty Dump' .
Send it to him :)
Very Nice ! I had this Exact ambulance when I was a kid. The only difference is that mine came with an EMT Action Figure man.
Absolutely beautiful restoration job.
Very nice job!
you, sir, are a hero to everyone over the age of 30.
Lol 😀😅😂🤣
Next tim you get rust on the plastic, use a product called CLR. It stands for Calcium, Lime and Rust. It's great stuff!
Excelente trabajo Joe
There were such ambulances in Chile In the 70's and 80's.
Not Toys, but real and authentic mechanisms.
Great job. Really nice

Had one of those when I was a kid!!
I've watched enough of these now to start to seriously wonder what restoration does to the value of the toy.
