I’m stuck on the rent. My mouth flew open. Lol. I can’t imagine paying that much in rent a month. They obviously don’t know poor people. $1000-1500 is way too high. Even with budgeting, if I paid that much in rent I would be house poor. And I have degrees, good credit, and work full time. No wonder investors are struggling with where to build. If they can only charge that much in rent to see a return, they can’t serve the people the bill was designed to help. Or maybe I’m just living in the wrong area. Maybe I need to move where impoverished means I make enough to afford a $1500/month unit, plus utilities, food, and transportation.

Not working in my community, in Houston off 610 fwy, no economic opportunities in my Opportunity zoned area, we are red lined out, Clinton Park is skipped over in Houston. Opportunity zone improvements and gentrification off 610 fwy, never hit East and South Houston, but downtown areas, heights, their brand new, and homeless population grew. This is going on around the country in every city, tax dollars, working for a few.

3 years and the Democrats are just now noticing the possibility that Trump has a great conceptual response to helping rehabilitate poverty.

It was a bipartisan project introduced by 2 democrats and a Republican that got squeezed into the tax cuts bill. Everything isnt trump vs democrats as much as yall want it to be.

All they can focus on is "this makes the rich look cool and keep money in their pockets" but not the actual opportunity zone part...

$12 - $1,500 month is above the minimum wage? Minimum wage brings home about 2,000 a month. That price is more than half. The opportunity zones are for people that make 20% of the poverty line to no more than less than 80% of the middle wages of that state. So, that would be $21,000 - $48,000 a year. This means that people on welfare may not qualify, because does SNAP counts as an income? Also, it just has to show that it improved the property by 10%. It doesn't even have to be a home. Finally, it is up to the state to determine if it qualifies as an opportunity zone.

I don't know why but I keep thinking if you were to confer with some of the Asian community it might help as they seem to have flourishing businesses in the black community. and I don't mean that in a racial undertones it is just the facts

Rents should be under $700 a month for minimum wage earners. Less hotels and less trendy beer joints. Freedom but brakes to not trample over the poor.

It's not a zero sum game. Less tax collected on planned development is not a loss to the government coffers. It is a reduction in new tax collected. If makes a Democrat happier, then remind them that the lower rate probably has a sunset and will eventually be raised during Liberal dominance only to be lowered by better public policy.

You know they addressed that right? He specifically says that it works if it wasn’t corrupt, unfortunately they all admit that this program was easily corrupted from the beginning. I don’t understand why people like you act like this
