Even with budgeting, if I paid that much in rent I would be house poor. And I have degrees, good credit, and work full time. No wonder investors are struggling with where to build. If they can only charge that much in rent to see a return, they can’t serve the people the bill was designed to help. Or maybe I’m just living in the wrong area. Maybe I need to move where impoverished means I make enough to afford a $1500/month unit, plus utilities, food, and transportation.

Opportunity zone improvements and gentrification off 610 fwy, never hit East and South Houston, but downtown areas, heights, their brand new, and homeless population grew. This is going on around the country in every city, tax dollars, working for a few.

The opportunity zones are for people that make 20% of the poverty line to no more than less than 80% of the middle wages of that state. So, that would be $21,000 - $48,000 a year. This means that people on welfare may not qualify, because does SNAP counts as an income? Also, it just has to show that it improved the property by 10%. It doesn't even have to be a home. Finally, it is up to the state to determine if it qualifies as an opportunity zone.

It's not a zero sum game. Less tax collected on planned development is not a loss to the government coffers. It is a reduction in new tax collected. If makes a Democrat happier, then remind them that the lower rate probably has a sunset and will eventually be raised during Liberal dominance only to be lowered by better public policy.
