    either you got a faulty one or they've improved it because I use that exact amp and it pushes 2 Wharfdale home audio speakers like a champ! Without any distortion.

    @GreenTechNetwork  11 років тому +2

    Definitely not, this is only a 2 channel amp. Plus it's way underpowered to run speakers like that. You'd be better off getting a good headunit to power the 4"x6" and 4" speakers, with a separate subwoofer amplifier to power the 10" sub.

    Uses a different chip now, sounds good, great for DIY Arcade sound modding.

    yo dude great video. I almost just bought one on ebay. I'm new to this...I'm taking apart flat screen tv's. I'm trying to make custom speakers so to say...I'm looking for an amp that can deliver 6 Ohms with over 16 watts +

      I'd go for the Lepai (Or also called Lepy) LP2020a. I've got a review on my channel for it. It may cost a bit more, but it has a lot more power.

    • @GreenTechNetwork
      @GreenTechNetwork  8 років тому

      Just make sure you get a 12v power supply with at least 4 amperes.

    can you damage speakers running an underpowered amp? what if i hook up a 130w 8 ohm speaker to it? and just run in mono/ bridged

    Interestingly enough, it seems to me that you're the one babbling about things you don't know about.
    1. The power supply I used is rated at two amps.
    2. If you actually did your research you would know this amplifier utilizes the Sanyo LA4508 chip, which offers only 8.5 watts per channel @ 3 ohms. It's definitely not going to be "blowing my socks off" anytime soon.
    3. I'm halfway through my electrical engineering degree, I know exactly what I'm talking about. YOU don't have a clue.

    In fairness to this $12.88 Amplifier ( Ipaid $14 shipped from Amazon without power supply) it’s very quiet and no hum. I connected it to two MB Quart speakers and they are okay. I rigged my broken Bluetooth headphones (the reason I got the speakers and amp) convert to RCA cables as input and they sounded like a 5W RMS Bluetooth speaker (like the JBL 5W portable speakers but not as good) just okay

    Lol just brought it, that better 8 w as in car parked, & used with tiny creative pebble, very clean fullrange 2" speaker, and brought a creature 3 sub alone 50 b. that don't work w/ out the satellite speaker 120 b. It's perfect fir the sub and see how chips the midrange is to use or not used the creative tiny amp. Should be a super full range as I love low volume bass at about 15-20 watts, and the original creature 2 was fantastic but 60 watt. Newer 3 is a tiny 3" at 28 watt. Going to beat that. I love the serperate bass and treble LOL

    I have same model, and it looks really good, and it can be used for the rear speaker of my Sony SQ Decoder SQD-1000 for quadraphonic sound.

    where's the link an how would I connect this one too my lil speakers in my truck the power connected is DC but no wires for battery attachment

  • @GreenTechNetwork
    @GreenTechNetwork  11 років тому +1

    Yeah definitely, you just need a 12 volt DC battery to power it. I'd recommend getting the Lepai LP2020A+ instead of this amplifier thought. The Lepai is only a little but more money and offers a lot more wattage.

    Hey man, thanks for the video, very helpful! Let me ask you, i've got a sony SS-CNEZ3 speaker that works at 6 ohms, can you tell me if it'll works well on the ma-170? In negative case, would you recommend me a proper amp to power on my loud speaker?

  • @GreenTechNetwork
    @GreenTechNetwork  11 років тому +1

    Well I would definitely recommend getting a stronger amp. You'll be better off spending an extra 10 dollars or so and getting one that's 4 or 5 times as powerful. Most power supplies are included with the amps.

  • @GreenTechNetwork
    @GreenTechNetwork  11 років тому +1

    Definitely. Shoot me a message with the supplies you're looking to use.

  • @Mrcloc
    @Mrcloc 5 років тому

    Ok, there are a few things to note. If it's two chips in, each could run BTL, giving 4x the power output. I think the datasheet says it can get 6 W at 3 ohms with 12 V supply, and this is about 24 W BTL, or 18 W for 4 ohms, 9 W for 8 ohms. Not bad at all! Do you know how much 9 W really is? On a 98 dB 8 ohm speaker, you're reaching SPL of about 108 dB. No, it's not underpowering the small speakers, if you want loud, you need efficient or high power.

    I'm running it into 2 8ohm Tannoy Eclipse mini speakers and it sounds fine. I use it for back ground p.c. music on my desk. I'm using a regulated 2 amp power supply with a proper line level input. For 13 British pounds including postage its perfect.

    If you're a hobbyist, at that price range you could build a simple amp using LM3886 and it would sound a whole lot better.

    i purchased a Kinter 2 Channel MA-170 on e-bay for 11.00 bucks. it lasted a week. on day 3 the power button got stuck, after that the sound had a hissing noise and then it just did not work any more. so... this little amp is not worth it

    I've got one of these, attached to two 30W Mission 8 ohm speakers, and a 12v 0.5 amp power supply. I have to turn it right up, but there is no clipping. I will never annoy the neighbours with it, but it fills my room with sound. No clipping, and it doesn't hum when I touch it.
    Did you get a bad model? Wish I'd bought the LePai now, though, I must admit.

    All I know is a 3 ohm amp is hotter that a 8 ohm speaker and tends to kill the speaker, yes! A 3 ohm speaker is to hot for a 8 ohm amp, yes! Take two 8 ohm speakers and wire them parallel and they will become 4 ohm, + to + and - to -, yes = more power!

  • @MrBrymstond
    @MrBrymstond 10 років тому

    The suspension on a cheap speaker doesn't usually allow for any amount of travel nor does the tiny magnet and voice coil... You would have had better luck if you wired two of these speaker together + to + and - to - and then to one side of the amp and the same for the other!

  • @sacolur
    @sacolur 10 років тому

    hi, do you recommend the Kinte MA-170 and Kinter MA-200? or is better the Lepai amps?
    best regards

  • @uisme2
    @uisme2 11 років тому

    What are wats? Are they like bats that live in caves but instead live under water? Or the things you hit baseballs with but use them on wasteballs instead? I wish I could help you, but since you are not talking about watts I really cannot. As far as these amps go they only put out about 5 clean watts. Not much, but if you have efficient speakers and keep your ears close enough to them to hear a bat squeak, you will be just fine.
    BTW, Lepai 2020a+ is 2x the money & 4x the quality.

  • @practicalpreparedness866
    @practicalpreparedness866 8 років тому

    It could be that the power supply can't supply enough current to drive the audio chip and that is why it is distorting.

  • @IshamPadron
    @IshamPadron 7 років тому

    I bought this amp for my ammo box speaker and the distortion is horrible. What is a good replacement that comes in this size? Can't be any wider because i have a 12v 7ah battery in there.

    Glad you like it! However, I would recommend that you purchase the Lepai LP-2020A+ if possible. it offers a lot more wattage, and is only a little bit more expensive. Check out the video review of the Lepai LP-2020A+ on my youtube channel if you're interested. Good luck!

    Do you know if i's bridgeable?

  • @jpopelish
    @jpopelish 11 років тому

    You should have a 12 V power supply rated for 6 A (with 4 ohm speakers) or 3A (with 8 ohm speakers). The distortion you hear may be from your supply voltage collapsing. The chip is actually rated for higher voltage, and if you want have 8 ohm speakers, there is a definite advantage in power capability if you use a 15 or 16 volt, 4A supply.
