I don't use the bass and treble on mine but only because go through a mixer first, also it's still clear at the max setting. Also, I stopped turning up my mixer when I hit 89db but I could have kept going.
Have you tried to put your speakers right on the mason bricks instead of those boxes? You may find that they are adding a hollow sound to your setup, just wondering.
As far as I know they are manufactured under different brands and use Philips TDA power amp chip (it's not class D amp). I don't know if all the versions use the same chip though and I think they may use plenty of different chips with same pinout that can work on that PCB. I wonder if the specs are all the same and any true, because it may not give advertised 2x20 watts. Maybe with stronger power supply it can squeeze more, but also affect the chip's lifetime, because it can get hot without serious heatsink. But for the price it does the job and it seems it can power some nice pair of used home theater speakers you can sometimes find for like $50-100 and have a decent sound for sane listening. I like the small size and simple design. The enclosure is pretty nice, so you can use self-adhesive velcro to put it on the back of the speaker, set it up for an optimal volume and tone and then control the volume from your laptop. I don't expect it to have the dynamic range and clarity of a serious hi-fi amp like your Kenwood though. These TDA chips are known among tinkerers as budget solution and their quality may range from awful to pretty decent. It also depends on how they're used with other components. Some people here on youtube were opening these amps up and it looks pretty simple inside, so maybe this simplicity make's this thing pretty decent. Who knows.
I but these for everything, have one for my tv, one for my tv, even one in my car, they're 10 bucks, find an old set of speakers and get some sound for cheap
I bought three of these amps. I screwed one to my entertainment center, in the living room, on the backside. I have two small 8-inch in ceiling (kinda cheap) Amazon speakers (50 watt a piece) above the couch, and this tiny amp is loud enough that I set the level at around 65% and it's clear. The amp can't distort the speakers, it just tops out with loudness.
" Daddy what are you doing here ? " that was Jokes and made the video for me , I just ordered this to drive a pair of paradigm Titan V3 for my pc set up , thanks for the preview !!!!

I was thinking of getting one of these to replace my disk cutter amp, but the first two sentences, doesn't sound flattering, static..
would you happen to know of a way to disconnect that stupid light?

Dude, you need to get rid of the boxes and set those speakers on the bricks decoupled with a washrag or something.
