I have searched dozens of videos and a couple of blogs and yours is the only “speed of short draw vs long draw” that I found. Thanks for doing this video, and in the cold! Cheers from Alaska. I have subscribed in hopes that you did or will do the summer version of this video.
I will revisit this one for sure. I also want to try to max out the long draw as much as I can to see what kind of speeds I can get. It will be interesting.
Thank you Mr. Mark for the video of the speed with full butterfly as l had requested. And yes, l will be keeping my eyes peeled for the same test in summers. I am surprised you still have snow. It is all gone here in Toronto.
You're the kinda guy I could sit out with a couple beers and smash targets with all day long. Love your vids, love your attitude, keep it up my friend!
precise .5 is my favorite latex, light and smooth. I also am mainly butterfly as well.being in Florida, I know they have a little more. I just. wish I had a crony so I could test speeds as well. id love to see this for sure in the summer. same bands that you just used.
Very cool 👍 I always appreciate videos comparing shooting styles the pros and cons.warmer temps soon should bring bigger contrasts, keep away from any aluminum frames in that ❄️ lol. I know you did a video about how fast is your ammo traveling when reaches your target, looking forward to another,I'am guessing up to 9.5 may hold it's inertia better further they travel. Two very good frames also!
You are freakin awesome dude! I am pretty sure you are right and the cold has everything to do with the extra elongation of the bands in this test. Everything is snappier when it's hot and slower and longer when it's not. I love your approach to all of this. Let's keep an open mind and see.
The only difference I have found between cold and warm is speed. I have tested 2 different size ammo in the warm and cold the difference between the 2 was about 35fps for 8mm steel from cold to warm. And the same with 9.5mm. Yes the overall speed was different but the speed difference with the 8mm and 9mm was still about 35fps. Really interesting.
Great video Mark. Normally I shoot with thicker .80 or .85mm ribs and 10 or 11mm balls but you can compare the result. Thanks for this video. It is always a pleasure to watch your videos. cheers mate🤘🎯💣✨
Had good luck with white BSB for butterfly in winter although thicker stuff than .45. When you re-test definitely use some bigger ammo in the mix I think the gains are better there than raw speed I find you can get good speeds with a surprisingly light band or narrow cut.
Oh true. I have shot .5 bands with 9.5 steel and got good speed with them. I think the .45 precise is a little slow. It would have been much faster with bsb .45
@@ATOMark Keep practicing butterfly your form looks pretty good, find the 9.5 easier to hold pinching slightly infront of the ball maybe a ⅓rd (don't shoot yourself). Don't think full maxed bands are comfortable for butterfly unless your very confident but if your test has the same elongation e.g. 5:1 or 5.5:1 whatever your favourite target elongation setup is its still a valid comparison of the same band. .55 BSB 24-12 will send 9mm lead hard almost too much for 9.5 steel
I wish I could. I have family in Scotland. It would be cool to spend a week visiting then travel the uk and shoot with my Viewers. Man that would be a blast.

First to like! Common knowledge that long draw gives more speed/power but good to have some concrete numbers to it. Thanks Mark!
I thought it would be fun to see. Maxed out band vs a comfortable long draw is still much faster.
Thanks for braving the cold! Great lesson for me. You're awesome!
Thanks Mark, I have often wondered about the difference between the 2 types of band cut.

Should be gone this week. Temps are going into the 20's
Good test mark it is interesting to see the actual difference between long and short draw thanks for the upload keep it up mate 👍
Nice demonstration!

Thanks bro. Sounds like my kind of fun too. I wish I knew someone who shot.
Great mix up long short low temp cheers man for the dedication .
Awesome video as always brother!
👍👍👍
Very good shooting at the end mark I enjoyed seeing your video. Hopefully you can do a review in the future with those frame's they're beautiful.🍀👋✌👊
The Hiker I have done a review on. The recurve I have not yet but will soon as the weather gets better.

Love your band tests them .55 sumiks are the best band I have ever tried at 23/18 thanks for the info 🇬🇧👍👍
Awesome shooting and frames, bro!
Thanks man
@@ATOMark Welcome, bro. Have you seen my new videos?
Good video
Very nice thanks for sharing brother!! You would probably like the wolf by wasp if you like these frames.
Yai will need to give one of those a try. I have heard many good things.
@@ATOMark it's a lovely little fram...90 mm fork gap just up your street Mark.
Yes sir. I love this frame. That 90mm fork width is sweet.
Great slinging !☝️
Thanks Al
I'm starting to like butta.. Shooting 6mm is insane fast lol.. Great vid as always bro!
It takes a little practice to get comfortable but once you do improvement comes in big steps.
@@ATOMark You da man.. All about having fun anyways.
Nice test 👍
Would have been nice to hear draw weight difference too.
Ya that would be a tuff one to do but interesting to see for sure.
Good video. Nice to know for sure eh? You need better weather brother!
It's coming bro. 23°c on Thursday. Can't wait.
Get it Get it.... 💪
Thanks bro.
Hello sir what is your favourite frame
That's a tuff one. Normally I would say the Cygnus but recently I have been having a hard time putting the S-Enlivener down.
Commenting for the algorithm. 👍🏼
Thanks bro! I appreciate that.
Hi pal
short draw style
precise .45 band what taper will u recommend for 6.35mm steel?
Would have been good to see 9.5mm steel speeds for comparison
With .45 bands in that cold I don't thing I would have been able too. Those were really slow with 8mm steel.

I don't trust myself to try long draw 🤦
Lol I was the same.
I'm gonna give it a try this summer but before that I need to do my research and build me a nice rig. I will probably wear safety glasses too.
@@upstreamer1661 I'm so clumsy I'd need a suit of armour.
