    I was one of the lucky ones. My first concert, at the age of 15. I thought they'd all be like that. Unbelievable.
    Was at the right place at the right time. Kiki Dee opened, then a video "take me to the pilot" video, then Elton for Funeral for a Friend. John Lennon. Great time. Thanks for the memories.

    A scorcher! Rusty as he was live, Lennon still belts this out. The reason for his appearance was that Elton bet him that Whatever Gets You Through The Night would be a number one in the US. Lennon didn't think it would be, and this was the forfeit - to appear live on stage with Elton. Well done Elton, you ought to have had a few more bets with Lennon ..... a fantastic night, shame there were only three numbers - I bet the crowd wished they would have gone on for another two hours .....

    The Beatles really went on with their careers that they never played their older songs ever again after recording it like bands do nowadays so it seems like they forgot about it. Its nice to hear John perform this song 10-11 years after recording and doing it live with The Beatles.

    I was lucky enough to be at this show. Sat in the first row of the blue seats right above the stage. This song, not I Wanna Hold Your Hand, is what got me hooked on the Beatles in '63. To hear John sing this song LIVE is still the greatest concert experience I've ever had. Miss you John!

    • @orchidwave2574
      @orchidwave2574 Рік тому +1

      @@kristoamadeus4441 The choice of this song might have somewhat been out of necessity, as the two of them had very little material in common after 'Whatever Gets You Through the Night' and 'Lucy in the Sky'. I Saw Her Standing There was surely a popular staple that Elton's band knew well enough, and a convenient choice to just bash out in the absence of much rehearsal. John L obviously sang this one pretty regularly at one time, just that he did the harmony parts rather than the lead. I'm surprised he didn't revert to singing harmony for at least one of the verses rather than belt out the lead vocal in unison with Elton...?

    • @Rowlph8888
      @Rowlph8888 Рік тому +5

      Whatever could you mean? He did primal scream therapy to understand himself more, which led to the groundbreaking plastic Ono band record, which Wasn't commercial and wasn't intended to be, but had tremendous influence and effect on other musical artists (more so than any other of the solo albums). Then he took 5 years off to look after Sean, whilst Yoko pursued the avant-garde career.That's literally the opposite of what you said - that is calming down, being sensible supporting your wife - Very unusual, especially back then,, when things were more male dominated and the distortions of modern feminism had not taken hold yet.
      This is thhe most stable he ever was!Remember John was never in music for commercial success, he was in it for originality, catharsis and social commentary - that's all! That is why he is the greatest songwriter ever - Because only ever produce high quality art - nothing purely commercial or The Shallow or sentimentally throwaway
