- NBA All-Star game took place February 20th in Cleveland, Ohio. The contest honored the NBA’s 75 greatest players of all-time which included the likes of LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and more. Jordan received the largest ovation from the Cleveland crowd, ironically whom he defeated in the playoffs for many years as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Colin Cowherd reflects on the legacy of Michael Jordan and the NBA's 75th ceremony. Plus, Colin reacts to Michigan coach Juwan Howard taking a swipe at a Wisconsin coach in Michigans' loss to Badgers.

Let's be real here. Michael Jordan is more popular than any current athlete in America or the world. He got louder cheers in Lebron in Cleveland. Nuff said.
So... Howard is in the handshake line and Gard "has no reason to grab his hand" ?? Gard was shocked Howard was so livid.. so was I. Horsecrap take. Gard was not an aggressor.. just looking to perform post game duties. Howard's 2nd incident .. had to be physically restrained during the Maryland game last year.. wanted to fight another coach. Howard is emotionally unsuited for the job.. and he'll be gone in the off season.

Michael Jordan was an artist. Regardless of how he played on any given night, his games were appointment viewing.

I hated Kobe early on but it was just because he was so damn good, he was one of the most exciting players to watch along with KG and Nash with the suns, those 3 were my favorites to watch
I agree that MJ was the greatest player ever, but as far as “artistry” of the game, Kobe was the master of that... his game was just a beauty to watch, jussst a tad bit more than MJ...
@@samueljackson3920 idk about that even as a Kobe fan. After watching the last dance, the way Jordan moved in the air was almost a mix of like Broadway/acrobatic/Olympic style.
I'd disagree with one point. MJ was one of the best losers I've ever seen. He always shook hands, paid respect when he lost, and never left the court early to save face. MJ took his lumps like a man. Never blamed losses on teammates or coaches. MJ was a great loser and winner.
So why did Collins get fired?

So to say that is not being genuine. Also The bulls drafted Paxson, Armstrong, and Grant they grew together and achieved greatness. Once pip became an all star the game was over. He wasn’t jumping around chasing rings that’s why LBJ isn’t the goat and also 6-0 in the finals. MJ embraced competition and adversity in his career it made him better. Lebron can’t carry a team with AD and Westbrook because he doesn’t hold them accountable to play with the fire and desire to win at all costs

The work ethic, the hard work, the way he pushed his team-mates, the way he took against his match-up and his will power to win the game. I'm blessed as a child to see his greatness, even if you are not a Bulls fan, you admired and appreciated what he did.
10 scoring titles, 5 MVP and 6 FMVP, never get to played a game 7 in Finals. Hands down the GOAT in basketball, for me he is even the GOAT of the athlete in the history of sports.
You bring up an interesting point about Michael's rivals. He would've NEVER joined the Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Knicks, Pacers, Jazz.... to win a ring. what lebron fans won't acknowledge or can't understand is that Jordan's greatness transcends stats (which he also dominates). He was a force of nature on and off the floor. 22 years after retirement and he's still relevant. And when he walks into the any venue, he commands immediate and fixating attention. You can't quantify something like that. When the majority of living legends are in one roof, he still stood out far, far above the rest, and they all knew it.

You can’t whitewash some of the big choke jobs LeBron has had in the Finals, whereas Michael was perfect every single time, and one of those times was with the flu. That’s what separates the two. When times got tough in crunch time with titles on the line, both have risen to the occasion, but Michael did so 100% of the time. That’s greatness. It’s mindset and leadership, not stats. It’s why Brady has 7 rings and Rodgers only 1.

I think his icon status started with when he left NC. The shackles imposed by Dean Smith came off and the world stage of the ‘84 Olympics where nba all stars did not win a single game against his team. Then of course, he exploded onto the nba scene with the most spectacular aerobatics ever seen. In those early days he went to the hoop in unbelievable fashion time after time. His marketing showcased his charm and uniqueness. Yes, his work ethic and competitiveness showed through and fans loved it. He paid a high price physically to get to the first championship and people admired that. His loyalty to his coaches and teams were also admirable. Although it must be said that without his endorsement money maybe he would have considered another team (the Bulls would have paid up tho). Lots of ways to describe why MJ has retained the aura, I’m sure

MJ probably the most popular athlete today retired or still active. His royalties is an indicator of his transcending popularity. He can FLY, just see his greatest clips no one compares now or historically. It's the only clips where people will actually stop to watch his amazing physical transcendent play.
You are absolutely right , basketball fans and other sports loves Air Mike. Air Mike has excellent and class act behavior , even with all the millions he is making , maybe not the greatest chracter (leaving his wife and children for younger way younger female) ... but he display a GREAT RESPECT FOR FANS. And he is humble.

Even more important, to me, was that great big smile on Lebron's face when MJ gave him a handshake and hug. I am certain that MJ meant a whole lot more to an up and coming basketball player named Lebron James than we will ever know. Wearing number 23 was no accident. They are probably the best of friends.

I saw the clip, several times. The coach did not "grab" Howard. He would have had more physical contact with Howard had he shaken his hand. More excuses for violent behavior by certain people. Sickening.

What are you talking about? Absolutely NOBODY is absolving Howard, but to act like Gard didn't also play a part is absurd. He puts his hand on Howard's arm and gives him a slight push (is it THAT much contact, no) and then stands in his way and blocks his path. He is clearly seeking out a confrontation. They are both wrong.
This is 100% Juwan here. Coach Gard “putting his hands on” Juwan is very weak and a pitiful attempt to make this a 50/50 blame assignment. (Can’t help but think about the “both sides” argument). Colin Herd clearly had his thoughts in college coaches even before this incident and is taken this as an opportunity to espouse his thoughts on the college coach dichotomy. Keep it, man. Not now. If I instigated an incident with everyone who touch my arm and stood in front of me to get my attention, (person wants to talk to me), when in a HAND SHAKE LINE, I hope someone would sit me down afterwards and explain proper decorum and sports etiquette. You just got beat, don’t look to fight the other team. Get them next time. This happens in high school and junior high. It shouldn’t happen in college.
