Hey, just wanted to give u a tip insted of filming your phone u could do a screen recording of your phone. That would level up the quality even more.

Appreciate your tip! I usually do do screen recordings (see my video where I talk about ChatGPT on my iPad), but in this instance, I wanted to experiment with the style and keep it ‘real’ rather than polished as I was going through the app the first time with you, rather than showing it off. Hope that makes sense 😀
It's a simple concept which makes it great but it lacks features,.
There are some apps that I have used like Reflectly and Stoic which have many features from different types of journals, daily questions and insights, mood check-ins, breathing exercises, meditation sessions, viewing your personal trends for the past week/month/year, and other features.
The Journal app is still fairly new but comparing it with the competition, it's still behind, hoping to see new features added to it through the next iOS releases.
A considered comment, thanks for posting. Looking forward to seeing what Apple does to it without over complicating it.
I'll stick to obsidian for tech stuff i want to remember and bulleting for personal reflection.

Thank you for another really interesting review. I’ve been journaling for several years using Day One which seems to be the market leader. Although I’m totally invested in the Apple system I’m afraid Journal has far fewer features than Day One so I definitely won’t be transferring at the moment. Would be interested if you’ve had any experience of Day One ? Maybe a comparison video would be useful ?
Thank you for your lovely comment and taking the time to post. I had Day One for a long time but found I didn’t use it as much as I thought I would. In recent times I was going to pick it back up again but then Apple announced the Journal app so I thought I’d wait to give that a go. A comparison is an interesting idea and worth exploring I think - I appreciate the suggestion. Interestingly Day One have said they welcome the competition (always healthy) and hope to take advantage of the ‘suggestions API’ and integrate this into Day One.
Interestingly Day One have also just added a ‘Suggestions’ feature too 😂
The greatest issue I have had with DayOne is the loss of my data, very precious moments were gone in a moment. The Apple journal app is just starting and I am sure I won’t regret in the long run to have switched. Apple definitely has better reputation with their apps and they are for Free.
