I realized the leak was coming from the a condesnor, after I had it completely ripped apart. Is it absolutely necessary to have the ac drained 1st? It would be difficult to put it all back together just to have the freon drained. Any advice would be appreciated

Motor City Mechanic. Thanks for the video. Had a diagnostic run on my system and was told the dye was just pouring out of my condenser so it need to be replaced. 2 Questions for you. Do you think my 2008 v8 4.7L grand cherokee laredo will be a very similar process to what you have shown and once done can I just take to a mechanic to flush system completely and recharge for me? +dan SEKERAK I would think the process should be about the same if not exactly. Make sure the system is empty of any Freon and yes, after your done....you can go and have the system recharged and be back on the road again. Dear MC Mechanic, in the middle of the AC connection 13mm nuts there are the small hexagonal pins, what is the purpose of that ? What should be the tightening torque on that nuts ? Thank you in advance. BR Kamil
Kamillo P. The pins are just threaded studs inserted into the condenser. Otherwise I don’t have access to the specs at this moment. I just go snug and never have any issues. Make sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Hi. Motor City Mechanic, thank you for your video. My mechanic told me that my ac condenser i broken thats why my AC does not work. I have a Jeep Commander 3.0 CRD 2007 . My mechanic told me to better buy an orginal condenser becouse non original parts usualy dont fit. I know that orginal part's are better but they are always more expensive. What is your opinion ? Also you showed on your video that in Jeep G C the condenser is attached with transmision cooler ? Does it look the same in Jeep Commander 3.0 CRD? Soory for my langauge, not US citizen ;-). I learn a lot from your video. Thanks!
The OEM (original equipment) does fit well and your correct that sometimes the aftermarket replacement might not be 100% the same. In most cases they are pretty close. The service information says that the trans cooler is part of the radiator on this vehicle so it wont be with the a/c condensor. The vehicle you have is an odd vehicle in my part of the country so getting the part may be harder then usual. I have seen where the aftermarket replacement not be correct because they think its the same as the gas engine when its not in come cases.

I have a 2006 jeep grand cherokee and Im going to be replacing the passenger headlight lens, It looks like a couple of bolts on top but I cant see the bottom. I saw your video on removing the grill I thought that might help but if I dont have to do that it would be even better. Can you help me out? no videos on that at all..thanks Dave

I have a 2007 jeep commander with the exact same set up. The transmission cooler is leaking. I bought the replacement and plan to do it my self. What else is involved? Do I have to have the ac recharged?
+Chuck Batsford I have don't one on a Commander as of yet. The service info states its part of the radiator and not the condenser. I would think its part of the a/c condenser. Being that I haven't done one and I am thinking that there could be a possible error with the service info.....I cant be 100% certain. The pics of the a/c condenser that I am seeing show trans line fittings. None the less if the cooler is part of the a/c condenser than you will need to have the Freon removed and recharged once done. The procedure will be different on the Commander when compared to the one in the video for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. That's based on what needs to be removed especially being that they are different body styles.
when Im loosing the bolts to the ac connector I have pressure coming out like gas liquid, Its coming out of the lines. Is that Freon? Will I have to recharge it?
Okay.....I am assuming you didnt remove the freon before attempting this repair? If so then yes thats what is trying to leak out. I highly recommend having the freon removed otherwise you could get hurt and cause damage. The system is suppose to be emptied before taking the lines loose. Then once your done....have the system recharged/filled with freon. Thanks for the question and for following the steps in the video.

+Tony Buckner You will only lose a small amount of trans fluid so no draining is needed. Just have a catch pan underneath to catch any that may leak out. You will not need to remove any p/s lines.....the p/s cooler will be removed from the condenser without unhooking the lines. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

What about lubing the seals or orings with ac oil??????

It doesn’t use one. If has an expansion block that meters the pressure instead of an orifice tube.
