That same case was used in the Dell XPS 8930 with different plastic furniture. I got mine in 2018 as an emergency desktop replacement from Costco when my 8+ year old i5 stroked out. My XPS 8930 came with an i7-8700 that ran like Dog$hit until I added a Samsung 512 M.2 SSD and replaced the TRASH single 8gb stick of dell ram with a 16gb 8x2 kit from Crucial and it had the same GTX 1050ti and it has run great for the last 5 years. I did upgrade with my XPS with a new PSU to support a newer video card and I was going to shoot for the moon with RX6650XT I got a Newegg for $259.00 and the RX6650XT was a fail. It's due to the fact that micro ATX mobos in the early 2018 dell XPS 8930 builds were all PCIe 3.0. Unfortunately, a little advertised/discussed bug with ALL AMD RX5000 and RX6000 series video cards is they all have ZERO backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0 mobos. So sadly I am returning RX6650XT 😕😕. I am now shopping for a new or good condition (and price) RTX2060/2070super which was designed for PCIe 3.0 mobos. P.S. with my Dell XPS 8930 it updated with the most recent bios for the XPS8930 dell micro ATX mobo, it will support 9th gen Intel CPUs and up to 64gbs of 16gbX4 ddr4 ram, a possible i9-9900. and running the ram at 3200 speed, not bad for a 2018 system.
I picked up the I7 8700 with a 500gb ssd and a GTX 1080 and 32GB of this PC last summer during the pandemic locally for $600 usd with an aio watercooler. Been happy with this and recently threw in a RTX 3060ti.

The thing i hate the most is, that you can't upgrade it to 9th gen and that it is hard to find faster ram. It will not allow the most ram kits to run on their faster xmp.
Yeah Dell Inspiron 5680 gaming desktop got the 9th gen cpu update as it was sold from 2018-2020 This desktop stopped selling in 2017 so they never updated it
The orange port, or the “CS-Out” port, is the port you use when you have a dedicated subwoofer or a center speaker in your audio setup and want to send it the isolated, center/bass channel signal you get in surround sound supporting media
It’s the same thing as optical out right beside it,,,it’s digital out. I know because I still use my R5 and I use this coaxial port to get digital sound.

Optical is the little square to the left of the orange plug, it has both. The orange is digital coax, which does the same. Ive never seen a mobo with that integrated on it. I'm going to burst your bubble just a little bit for $300 you can get a Alienware Aurora r10 without a GPU now if you're wondering why this is this is because the 3080 and 3070 that came in this model is a Dell OEM card that is garbage and known for failure I am not saying that the 3080 and the 3070 are garbage cards this OEM card is a garbage card there is a difference but for little than less than $20 worth of upgrades you can water cool it and add vrm heatsinks to it and still be under Dell's asking price of $1,900

not unless they change literally everything about their design. All this on top of the most bare-minimum spec required for the PC to "run" regardless if you get full performance or not. The price they charge you to cripple your own system is just embarassing

The i5-8400 still holds up super well IMO. I'm using one, myself, and have for a little over a year now, paired with a GTX 1080; and I have yet to feel the need to upgrade anything; all performance is well within acceptable for me. Except for Cyberpunk 2077, I'm able to maintain 60FPS at 1080p with everything I play. Though I certainly did not pay $3k for this hardware. Lmfao. Even in peak pandemic pricing, it would have cost me maybe $1k for my rig; though I actually paid right around $650 all in all; using an ITX form factor (gotta love the "ITX tax". Lol).
No reason to think it won’t, unless you’re shooting for 1440p+ resolution and hoping for 90+FPS (speaking generally). Targeting 1080p, 60FPS, on a usual mix of Medium and High settings (assuming current/modern games, 2019 onward)? Golden. Depending on the title (like Monster Hunter World/Rise, Echo, Skyrim, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Everspace Jedi: Fallen Order, etc…) with older stuff you can get away with all-high or even Ultra settings. However, as the saying goes: High is for gameplay, Ultra is for screenshots. :p Though I would, if budget allows, go after a i7-7700 over the i5-7500, if only for those extra 4 threads. They’ll come in handy, for sure, along with the little bump in clock frequency.
That cleaning montage was so satisfying lol. The dust bunnies going free was pretty funny. I'm actually surprised it came with a couple upgrades but I had to laugh at the GPU bracket.
I kinda have to laugh at them saying they were going for a more compressed case design, when Dell was actually just re-using an internal design that is probably older than they are. They havent retooled their case designs in a very long time.
just upgraded from this type of computer (with a 1080 and an i7 8700) to a 3070 ti and an i7 12700kf (also went from 16 gigs of ram to 32). My new computer feels so much better, mostly because in the year 2018 they were still using a hard drive for the boot drive...
After looking online the walmart near me a few weeks back had 3 or 4 unopened 34" samsung monitors on clearance for 169 each and they were just laying in the clearance isle. But I'm sure some amazon or ebay scalper probably bought them up!
Just picked up the same model but with a 1060 6gb blower style for $75 US total on marketplace. Could not believe it. making some minor upgrades and that puppy is getting flipped.

I have this PC, Alienware Aurora R5, my specs are a little different but these are super reliable as I am watching the video on this PC that is from 2016
Whoever is doing the descriptions for your videos is getting really lazy. In your video you say that you will leave suggestions for an SSD that you recommend, and the Link in the description is just a search on Amazon for a 2.5" SSD. So unless you guys recommend every SSD on Amazon that isn't a very good recommendation. Also in the Dawid competition video the person writing the description couldn't even be bothered to add a link to his video, which he was thoughtful enough to do for you. Still love your videos and hope you keep up the Great work. I just wanted to give a bit of feedback.
Appreciate the feedback, we do general amazon searches because listings go away too often and in the future the link is useless. Also for the dawid competition we pinned a comment for his video, much better than getting buried in our description
@@ToastyBros the pinned comment does make sense. I would just try to avoid saying we're going to put recommendations in the description if they're just random searches because it's a bit misleading and I do value your opinions.

I build a pc in 2017 (back when ryzen hadn't even launched and intel was at 7th gen), and I had 2 usb 3 2 usb 2 ports. Sure, no usb c but I am still not looking for that. That pc had an i3, but also an ssd (+1tb hdd) and came out below 600 including 1050ti. asking 1k for that thing is just crazy, it should have had a 1tb ssd for that cost at the very least.
Alienware is always overpriced for what they offer.USB C is not really that special,my custom built computer is based on 7th gen i7 and my MSI motherboard does have USB C port too and it's not high end either.

Damn, the guy that originally bought it for $1k got scammed hella hard, then he scammed you guys for $375. You could buy this PC in NZ for roughly $400, which right now at the time of writing this is about $200 USD, and even that's too much.
In future let us see temps for all main components instead of just GPU? CPU is running 200MHz under boost clock and I can only guess it's from the ungodly bad cooler they provide
Hi guys. Please may you do an MSI Trident X video where you upgrade EVERYTHING to the max. I really want an old trident x, just so i can upgrade it to todays specs coz that was the perfect small form factor pc in my eyes.
When i was younger i used to think Alienware PCs were so cool but in reality they're just a generic Dell case wrapped around in fancy glossy plastic with a generic motheboard, proprietary connectors and a 15$ cooler.I can't belive these PCs actually cost over 1000$ when they are new and this is all they have to offer,i've seen that CPU cooler is still being used even in some of today's modern ones depending on what CPU you get.Nice aesthetics but in reality they're just a piece of junk
thats not an old alienware lol thats a dell pc with a dumb looking case, the old alienware pc's are actually alienware not dell computers and are the ones that are actually worth a pretty penny

I still get daily use out of my R6 from 2017. After memory and disk upgrades it runs as well as new.
There's enough dust in that GPU to build a new person (or used person I guess)
I got a Lenovo IdeaCentre G5 with a GTX 1660 Super and a 10th gen i5 and 16GB of DDR4 ram for 260 GBP.
I kinda have to laugh at them saying they were going for a more compressed case design, when Dell was actually just re-using an internal design that is probably older than they are. They havent retooled their case designs in a very long time.
The orange jack is for a subwolfer connection.
My dad has that exact computer; with an i7 8700 and RTX 2080.
QQ what do you do with these old review PCs after your reviewers? YT also brought me here, new subscriber!
8 gen feels old ???? I still rock my Hashwell i7 5930K with my new RTX3060 Ti 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i5 2500 sandy bridge baby 😅 finally this month he's gonna retire
@@Jaroartx if your board supports it you could upgrade to a 3770 to get significantly more performance for pretty cheap.
love you guys!
Imagining the thermals on that fuzzy, proprietary closed off design.
just upgraded from this type of computer (with a 1080 and an i7 8700) to a 3070 ti and an i7 12700kf (also went from 16 gigs of ram to 32). My new computer feels so much better, mostly because in the year 2018 they were still using a hard drive for the boot drive...
just got the same tower in a trade but came with an i7 7700, gtx 1070 and 16gb ram, should do me well for a bit until i do some upgrades
After looking online the walmart near me a few weeks back had 3 or 4 unopened 34" samsung monitors on clearance for 169 each and they were just laying in the clearance isle. But I'm sure some amazon or ebay scalper probably bought them up!
I freaking love how you say "Toasty bros"
Just picked up the same model but with a 1060 6gb blower style for $75 US total on marketplace. Could not believe it. making some minor upgrades and that puppy is getting flipped.
If I recall dell actually has had their own PSUs at titanium rating for a while
My bed pc is still 8th gen. It’s an 8700k with a 6600 xt.
I love my Aurora 7 still. It's sizzling fast, too. I put 64G of ram in it. With a 1TB SSD, it works great for gaming. Start-up time/ going online is under ten seconds.
I have this PC, Alienware Aurora R5, my specs are a little different but these are super reliable as I am watching the video on this PC that is from 2016
I have an R7 , CTX 1080 still going strong to this day!
Have a 1050 (non ti) from a HP pre-built that looks just like that
i use to have a 8400 and 1050 ti
the i5 is capable of a more powerfull gpu tho but they do work well together as first system
upgraded to a 10th gen system with a 1660 super for less then 200 usd more
I haven't seen any alienware comparison of pre dell and post dell systems. I think that would be interesting to see.
It would be nice if the system specs were in the description.
ca u guys do more videos with consoles such as Xbox
@@Mirra2003-f9s they said that the ports were better than you'd expect, but besides the usb c it had identical ports.
The single jack is an av audio single jack mainly used for tvs
I have a R7 with a 1080 and it was my first pc I bought it to play Rust on it and I racing and honestly if you can find one now for cheap and and it still plays everything awesome with no problems at all
Another great video ❤
Damn, the guy that originally bought it for $1k got scammed hella hard, then he scammed you guys for $375. You could buy this PC in NZ for roughly $400, which right now at the time of writing this is about $200 USD, and even that's too much.
I've worked on these units, they are a damn hot box. Dell ruined Alienware!
All that dust make me want to sneeze over a 100 times
In future let us see temps for all main components instead of just GPU? CPU is running 200MHz under boost clock and I can only guess it's from the ungodly bad cooler they provide
Hi guys. Please may you do an MSI Trident X video where you upgrade EVERYTHING to the max. I really want an old trident x, just so i can upgrade it to todays specs coz that was the perfect small form factor pc in my eyes.
The 1050ti was a good budget card back then it was the go to price wise for most gamers but now it’s trash compared to the newer stuff
One of my fav Alienware cases!
The orange input is an optical input the find blu-ray players and dvd players and some older audio receivers
Okay what is the purpose of using the giant knife to open a box you can use a normal box cutter. That knife is a lot of overkill just to open a box..
When i was younger i used to think Alienware PCs were so cool but in reality they're just a generic Dell case wrapped around in fancy glossy plastic with a generic motheboard, proprietary connectors and a 15$ cooler.I can't belive these PCs actually cost over 1000$ when they are new and this is all they have to offer,i've seen that CPU cooler is still being used even in some of today's modern ones depending on what CPU you get.Nice aesthetics but in reality they're just a piece of junk
i love the alienware videos! can you guys do more alienware laptop videos please?
yeah i bought an Alienware R14 5900X 3080Ti 32GB of ram, wanted one my whole life
Lol .. a support bracket for that little GPU! I wish Corsair thought of something like that for the giant 4090 in my new prebuilt.
Old alienware pc are cool to see
thats not an old alienware lol thats a dell pc with a dumb looking case, the old alienware pc's are actually alienware not dell computers and are the ones that are actually worth a pretty penny
I built my first pc a couple months ago and can confirm that I'm never going back to console
Ohhhh... I saw those oem gtx 1050ti gpu on Ebay and I was wondering on what systems they were originally slapped on. Well, now I know and knowing is half the battle! 😎
It's a discrete design for an Alienware.
Orange RCA is Bass output
Hey guys, can u do a review on those lenovo indeacenters....
can you review the 300$ benq 4k monitor
How do you get the specs in the top left when you were playing a game?
i bought this pc with a i5-9500 and a gtx 1070 with 32 gb of ram for 550 on offerup
My first real PC build was an i5-8400 with a 1050ti.
I’m rocking the i5 8400 with a rx 5500 xt. Just picked up this build a week ago for $325 and I am super impressed with this combo! Plays cyberpunk like a champ. Great vids btw about time I subscribe 😅
Low settings I’m guessing?
@@quesokid4959 probably lmao

Was that a 360 controller being used?
They inhaled gamer flesh cleaning that thing. 🤧
Is it me or are they refering to the GPU as 1080 ti?
I got this pc for 150 it has a 1070ti 16gb ddr3 ram no storage though so i added a 1tb and a 500gb ssd and hdd it also has an i7 8700kf
