Lol I work for FedEx ground and let me tell you, the heavier the box is the less damaged it will be in shipping. Mainly because we don’t but heavy packages on the top of the walls we build in the trailers cuz for one, we don’t like breaking our back by lifting 60+pound boxes over our heads 500+ times a day and for 2 it’s a safety concern because it can crush other boxes that are lighter below them during shipping, fall off the wall causing an avalanche, and can actually kill an unloader if it slips off during the unload process and is heavy enough to snap your neck. So basically 60+ pound boxes never get stacked higher than your waist or chest in a trailer meaning they have a much higher chance of surviving the shipping process even if they fall😂.
If they are on the bottom then your tossing every other box on top of that one. So yeah it's likely gonna receive even more damage. This whole comment lacks any kind of common sense. No wonder you're a FedEx ground worker lol

My first experience with Alienware was back in 2003. I was taking a class in which we were tasked with building a mock up computer. I stumbled onto the Alienware website and saw the Area 51 model for the first time. They've always had such amazing cases!
With a 980ti and a i7 of that era, a 1500w while overkill, is kinda a nice feature considering im willing to bet they were banking on the 10 series cards being power hungry (because you know how companies get when they are coming up on something special, like another digit in their GPUs) and since Alienware is an OEM, they probably had intentions on using that PSU for years to come in more demanding PCs, and if a 1500w PSU is only a couple more bucks to manufacture and the system is $2000-$3000, you bet they are gonna go for a 1500w over something like a 750w
I've had my Area 51 R2 since I bought it secondhand in 2016. i7-5960X, 32GB, though I've long since moved from the stock 3-way SLI 980s to a 2080 Ti AIO. It's been fantastic, and I'll just keep on upgrading parts of it as I need to in the future (a new mobo and CPU is probably next... oh and quieter fans). That said, it's unfortunate Dell seems to be going completely backwards from what they had with this tower. My Dad used it as a work laptop until around 2011, despite the fact by that point it was 6 years old and hecka outdated. We kept it around for general internet browsing until security updates for windows XP were no longer coming out. Still works, sick retro gaming machine.
Nice setup, mine's been stable for years at 4.4GHz 1.205v (the mobo auto overclocking was feeding 1.24v to the CPU for 4.3GHz, a bit of BIOS tweaking had my temps drop by 10°).
@@jean-charlesweyland129 depends on your motherboard I’m on a cheap Huananzhi X99-TF motherboard lol so I’m lucky I get 4.3GHz 1.22v stable and also lucky there was a guy who makes modified bios for my motherboard to be able to even overclock lol
@@SiqFix I feel you. I got lucky when I bought my 5820k second hand, the ad was only for the CPU and I asked the guy seeing that he was rocking a AMD setup if he still had the X99 motherboard. He said that he still had it but thought it was dying because of the screeching sounds it made in his headphones. He gave it to me (Gigabyte X99 Gaming G1 Wifi) with the CPU for 100€ in late 2019. Turns out the onboard sound card was the issue and as I already had an external one from my first build, I got quite a deal ^^
@@jean-charlesweyland129 that’s a sweet deal because my i7 5820K was $50 second hand plus the brand new Huananzhi X99-TF was $100. I just recently lost my job and had to sell my i9 10850K/RX 6600XT pc and built this old i7 5820K/GTX 1080 Ti.
I still have the Ryzen Threadripper one with a water-cooled 1950 and a water-cooled 1080Ti (sold the second one in the crypto boom). Absolute beast 5 years later. I even put 4x16GB and it doesn't have any issues running at 3600.
I always like the zoo platform. 2 more sticks of ram to have quad channel would get rid of any ram speed issues and those older Intel CPUs tended to have great overclocking headroom, so you could have a 6 core CPU over 4ghz. Although the GPU was great for its time it does need an upgrade and you could go quite a bit before it would be bottlenecked by an overclocked i7-5820k. Alienware did have some iconic and original cases. Just wish they were a bit lighter :)
I have one of these in my closet, got it back when VR was still a baby. Nothing special, gtx 970 and other similarly powerful parts in it. I recently upgraded and didn't feel like gutting the case just yet, but I still might and use it for a new project for my wife. The case is fun and unique!
I bought an Area51-R2 brand new many years ago. Yes overprioced but it worked very good. Now I still have the Area51-R2 case but modded it and installed all new hardware, including a 360 AIO at the front. You can see the vids I made on my channel.
I have one of these, the i7-5630K version. It has a 1500watt modular PSU, liquid cooling for the CPU, Killer 10GB NIC, SoundBlaster Recon3D Sound, 32GB RAM, and 6TB of total storage. It also has Bluetooth and WiFi built-in. My GPU is definitely upgraded from the GTX980....it's a GTX2060 6GB card. I absolutely LOVE the case design! Very roomy. Easy to work in. WEIRD as hell looking, but so bad ass! I connected to this bad boy an Alienware AW768 RGB mechanical keyboard(terrific!), and the Alienware AW959 RGB mouse(amazing!). I have gone all-in with my Alienware setup with this great case, also known as The Triad! The RGB on the case is bright, but subtle, not flashy at all! Combined with the AlienFX and Command Center software, I have complete control over the RGB in my setup. Certainly, this is one VERY heavy and big case, and not for everyone, but for me, it's PERFECT! I can't see myself in anything else, right now. I love Alienware, and The Triad Case is fabulous!
i7-5820k oc 4.5ghz, 32gb ram, samsung 250gb evo (x3) and a normal 980, I have zero issues playing today's games, I still get great frame rate and never any issues. so not all systems from several years ago are crap systems.
i9-7980XE, 64gb ram, x2 1080ti, 1tb M.2, W11 pro I dont play games but work with autocad, lumion, global mapper, etc. and this pc runs everything perfect
I have the r5 version of this Area-51. 9800x, and just recently put a 3080ti in it. I love it. Would live to see you guys do a follow up on this with only an upgraded GPU in it, just to see how far everything else in it can be pushed.
I miss the old early-mid 00s Alienware cases but if you can find one on eBay they're $300+ for the case alone and not even for one in perfect condition.
Woah guys, i can't believe how much this channel has grown ! I watched you when you were starting a loong time ago with the mineral oil PCs trying out windows 10, then the cardboard box PCs.. You've gone far !! keep it up
Higher end 9xx cards still hold up well! I have a G20AJ from the same time period with a 960 in it, it's served me well for...eight years? Something like that, only issue is the HDMI port got damaged and I use an adapter to run it through one of the three DisplayPorts instead. I still laugh about how New World bricked 30x0s but my old card doesn't skip a beat...
Toasty Bros, would you know what upgraded processors I could use in my Area 51 R2 (model year 2015-16)? It would be wotking with original motherboard with Bios version 014. Thanks for any insight.
I bought the same rig totally reshaped it with a I7 Extreme 6950X running at 4500 Mhz 😄 and a ROG 6600XT work great all games work 80 fps + on midrange - extreme settings. it could take out more performance on a better motherboard that a future concern because it would create difficulties with the LED build on the case.
Am I the only one that just messes around with Arenas more than the actual BR with Apex? I keep getting paired with randos that don't really do a whole hell of a lot. I feel like I can focus a lot more with Arenas matches.
I bought this with a 1060 in it for my kid in 2016. Threadripper. He used it up til today when I got him a new aurora r14 for his birthday..I plan to put this rig in my man cave for driving simulators. I would 100% build a computer using this tower. Beautiful design and timeless. Literally looks like a ufo.
I work with turnkey video switchers looking at that box makes me understand why I work with a unit and its fine but shows up with an unseated GPU to the end user
In terms of hardware design It looks better than most newer pcs even better than newer Alienware pcs… it’s as if the internals improved but the externals took a backseat for some reason.

1500W PS? What sort of upgrades were they expecting? Could you do quad SLI with that system?
Still the best looking Alienware ever imo. I wish I could have that case!
THE BEST ALIENWARE DESIGN EVER
Hi dear. currently you are using i7 5820k and me too pls tell me if i want to use i7 6xxx (ie next gen) should i update bios or not
When older Alienware systems look better than new ones 😂
Only this area 51 case is better, the others looks old
This case is a masterpiece seriously
The new aurora looks like a generic pc 😢
I'm still waiting on the day they sell their own cases cos they are a thing of beauty
You can see the vids I made on my channel.
with alienware motherboard support for newer gpus would have ended years ago
I still work on one right now but not upgradable to windows 11 since it is missing the appropriate TPM
This PC was big for dual GPUs in SLI. Back when being able to buy 2 GPUs didn't break the bank. Hence the huge power supply.
It's like you're getting these computers from space hhhhhh
Greetings to you
the perfect pc for attending lan parties ^^
I had one of the Alienware Area 51 R6 AMD Threadripper edition!
Love the look of this case you guys should build it with the top of the line parts that would be cool
This brings back memories. My dads computer(he doesnt game but likes cool things) is my old i7 4770k & GTX 980 ti and it still works great.
i7-5820k oc 4.5ghz, 32gb ram, samsung 250gb evo (x3) and a normal 980, I have zero issues playing today's games, I still get great frame rate and never any issues. so not all systems from several years ago are crap systems.
I'm on almot the same system i7-5820k 64gb ram with a 970 but it has been replaced with a rx580 8gb. still plays everything. high settings
i9-7980XE, 64gb ram, x2 1080ti, 1tb M.2, W11 pro
I dont play games but work with autocad, lumion, global mapper, etc. and this pc runs everything perfect
I'm curious what this pc could do if you put something like a rtx 3050 in it. Would you double your fps?
I have the same computer since 2016 and upgraded to a gtx 3070. Running everything perfect
I have the r5 version of this Area-51. 9800x, and just recently put a 3080ti in it. I love it. Would live to see you guys do a follow up on this with only an upgraded GPU in it, just to see how far everything else in it can be pushed.
Daaang son
I miss the old early-mid 00s Alienware cases but if you can find one on eBay they're $300+ for the case alone and not even for one in perfect condition.
I had one with 970's in SLI and a 5930K and it worked flawlessly from 2015-2023. Then everything died all at once XD
Setting a fan profile for that gpu would help a ton
I have this BOAT anchor... cant get a new Water Cooler for it... still trying to find a replacement
It’s funny because every time i watch these awesome vids i get pre built pcs ads
Would be nice to see you upgrade to a 6600XT and check how the CPU handles it.
What a beautiful PC, I would kill to have one of those
I remember this being my dream PC at the time heh, was the coolest thing
Woah guys, i can't believe how much this channel has grown ! I watched you when you were starting a loong time ago with the mineral oil PCs trying out windows 10, then the cardboard box PCs.. You've gone far !! keep it up
Roll the box on its side, cut the bottom then pull the box off!!
Higher end 9xx cards still hold up well! I have a G20AJ from the same time period with a 960 in it, it's served me well for...eight years? Something like that, only issue is the HDMI port got damaged and I use an adapter to run it through one of the three DisplayPorts instead. I still laugh about how New World bricked 30x0s but my old card doesn't skip a beat...
still super up to date honestly
Did you guys upgrade the GPU? Wanna know how well this performs with an updated GPU
This is basically my current computer, but I have two 980’s. I loved this when I bought it but I’m getting ready to build my own.
I have the same machine I bought from someone but I have no idea what kind of power supply plug I need to buy for it?
How is the 980 ti running so well even on cyberpunk
out of curiosity could you swap out the mobo? love the design of the case but with a ryzen or modern i7 it would be epic and a 6600xt or rtx 3070
Toasty Bros, would you know what upgraded processors I could use in my Area 51 R2 (model year 2015-16)? It would be wotking with original motherboard with Bios version 014. Thanks for any insight.
may I ask for the song at 13:00? I really like it
We just scrapped one of these at my work. I saved the 980ti out of it. Everything else went in the scrap bin.
I bought the same rig totally reshaped it with a I7 Extreme 6950X running at 4500 Mhz 😄 and a ROG 6600XT work great all games work 80 fps + on midrange - extreme settings. it could take out more performance on a better motherboard that a future concern because it would create difficulties with the LED build on the case.
well this prebuild to me so far would still be a dream due to what I play
I can’t believe you got sponsored by HP I am impressed
is a i5 6500 with a rx 6400 good?
Depends on price. I5 6500 is a sorta outdated CPU
my 5820K and GTX970 have been running since 2015 with no probs on a 550 watt PSU
Am I the only one that just messes around with Arenas more than the actual BR with Apex? I keep getting paired with randos that don't really do a whole hell of a lot. I feel like I can focus a lot more with Arenas matches.
I get good teammates I think it jsut depnds when u play
I bought this with a 1060 in it for my kid in 2016. Threadripper. He used it up til today when I got him a new aurora r14 for his birthday..I plan to put this rig in my man cave for driving simulators. I would 100% build a computer using this tower. Beautiful design and timeless. Literally looks like a ufo.
I work with turnkey video switchers looking at that box makes me understand why I work with a unit and its fine but shows up with an unseated GPU to the end user
Great content, good job!👍
In terms of hardware design It looks better than most newer pcs even better than newer Alienware pcs… it’s as if the internals improved but the externals took a backseat for some reason.
I remember OSFirstTimer bought and reviewed this PC back in 2014, but it was an i7-5960X and a GTX Titan Z.
Oh my God... first person who I found who watches OSFirstTimer. Are you a Recent Subscriber or Just a long time?
Just love their videos
Awesome video guys 👍
I have the same one and installed, a rtx 2080ti rog strix, so I was glad I didn't have to update my power supply.
straight from Area 51, delivers unearthly performance!
I've always wanted just the case. I like the design/look of these cases.
I have a question can you put a gpu to disk reader drive on laptop?
Cus i have a laptop from 2017 200$ integrated gpu
how are those temperatures even happening... that 980 Ti is fighting for its life so hard that it's probably the only thing heating up the 5820K lmao
Underrated UA-camrs
Could u test the version with 1920x Threadripper and gtx 1080? 🙂
Just love the content so much
