It is a shame that the legendary 70's cannot be repeated, thank God we have youtube and the great memories made during the greatest era in modern music!!
This is too much fun. KC and the Sunshine Band played at my high school grad night. Who that all these [ahem] years later I'd be watching them on my computer? Get down tonight!
I was lucky to see these guys live in the mid 70's at a very young age ( snuck in ). Easily one of the best live bands I have ever seen. Tight as hell, funky, entertaining, talented, and wahtever else i can think of. Musicians loved this band in th same way they liked tower of power.
I know this song but only as George Mccrae sings it.. I did not know that there was an instrumental version..... woman ,take me in your arms, rock your baby ooh ooh ooh
The man knows no racial barriers. This guy, Harry Wayne Casey, was BORN to funk. And he wakes up each morning READY to funk. I'm fairly sure he never questioned or even played the race card when it came down to crafting these now timeless funk classics. Although I do have to say that next to Boz Scaggs, Daryl Hall, Robert Palmer and the baddest of them all, Rod Temperton, Harry Wayne Casey is hands down the most kick ass, whiteboy funkster in the planet!
The 1970s were so damn cool. From 1970 - 1979. The music, the clothes, the cars, etc. look at KC & his band. Those moves. I have this concert on DVD. If only the quality & camera angles were better. I wish there were more.
Thanks chuckwagon, you're absolutely right. Fermin Goytisolo is the only remaining original. I was the last original vocalist to leave in 1999. The band continues to tour worldwide.
I'll say it again. seeing these dudes in 74/75 when I was snuck into a venue by friend, completely rocked my world. A rock solid rhythm section, horns to die for, and my first look at women in tight dresses and platforms .. what more could you ask for? the only band that has come close since was tower of power, but nothing will ever beat KC and the boys and that magical groove.
I saw KC and the Sunshine Band in Burlington Iowa at Steamboat Days in 1999. They are still so great to see in person! I wish that I could have told them how much I appreciate them! They were rockin. My favorite music with horns. I want to see you again!!!!!!!!!!!
That was 50 years ago! I loved this song when I was a kid, listening to it on an album. I definitely prefer this version to George McCrae's. The Sunshine Band was also a super live band❗
That’s a great performance. Never knew KC and The Sunshine Band members were the backing band that performed this. Also never knew KC and Richard Finch wrote it. 👏👏
My uncle, Clay Cropper produced this track at TK records in miami, along with other artists such as bobby caldwell, who my uncle wrote the opening line in "what you wont do for love" he also produced and played guitar and B3 with betty wright. A man who for some reason turned his back on the industry?
@@User-x5s3x Two of them DID pass, first trumpet player and sax player. Funky Charles on trombone and the 2nd trumpet player, might still be with us. I could NOT, with certainty, confirm the where-abouts of the last two.
I remember going to nightclubs dancing all nighters to this stuff. Sweating like anything and nobody gave a shittt. drunk until you could not walk and all the cops did was help you make your wobbly way to the taxi rank. Times have changed. Hope we can get the good times back for our kids.
I was born just a bit to late to enjoy this stuff in nightclubs. Just missed out on studio 54 too. Love this song. My mom used to listen to this on her 8 track. :)
Hey CRJADED----YOU ROCK, MAN! He is the absolute baddass white boy! This guy has soul all through his veins. And not only did he perform these kick ass songs, he effin' wrote them!!! In my book, the baddest white boys in R&B/Soul music are 1) Harry Wayne Casey, 2) Rod Temperton (of Heatwave and writer of Michael Jackson's best songs, and 3) Daryl Hall.

The clothes are actually from the Planet Claire

This video certainly brings back disco era memories.
these is one of the songs that inspired the iconic swedish quartet ABBA to recording their biggest worldwide hit, the iconic "Dancing Queen" in 1976
