I run the TA11H on my LR-308. It's a great optic for the durability and the piece of mind that comes along with knowing it will survive a meteor strike. It suits the purpose of being good out to midrange-ish which is all I need, it shoots better than I do. With a Delta Point Pro canted for LARPing around the house distances.
Hey a trick I learned out Target shooting in a sunny field, I will pass along for reticle washout. Wrap the first two inches of the fiber optic with camo wrap cloth starting from the objective lens, leave the other 4+ inches as they are uncovered and it's perfect. No more washout, no sticky residue left on the optic like tape does, and in low light, peel off the camo wrap, roll it into a small roll and slip it inside your pocket.
I’ve found the acog ta11 rmr much better than the Elcan. Lighter, better glass and eye relief and much faster to one power with full open field of view. Sold my ta11 two years ago and after running a half dozen optics on my scar 17 I am bringing back the ta11
i went from a m1a socom to a scar17 to a custom ar10, decided to sell the scar for its value, while top tier, does not equate to its current cost/use value justification , kind of like a benelli m4 or atlas athena. I own a elcan 1.5-6x , great scope, definitely quality and bomb proof, if you want it for the look and elcan appeal, do it. I used a NF 3-12 and trijicon accupower 1-8x , while great, like the elcan they are heavy on the scar17. I would probably run an acog with an offset red dot, or a LPVO like a vortex razor 1-10x on a geissele/adm/scalar works mount. If I would redo the scar17. I would chop the barrel to 13.7-13.9 and weld a surefire warcomp on for a surefire mini 2 suppressor, barrel would be 18 inches or so at tip of suppressor. Put on the KD medium size rail that goes to about the front iron sight I dont know how the weight balance is with an aluminum lower and polymer mags, but it might be worth looking into, metal mags filled with 20 are pretty hefty. I would try to run without a bipod. I made mine a little too heavy with 1-8 accupower and adm delta mount, protac light, and atlas bipod adm mount + full size kinetic development rail. I say all this, thinking the scar17 should be run quick and fast, while it can be used for a sniper and prone dms with a bipod, heavy scope and accessories, but its not the best in that role. I also did not like the diameter of the rail or the vertical length of it, cant c clamp it like an AR.
@@cooksautoworldbest middle ground/ one and done optic you can get. The ta11 at least. No fumbling with variable dials, no worrying about batteries, and no personal calculations needed to compensate for bullet drop. The acog is good enough in every category but is the most durable optic by far
Excellent review, best optic hands down! I have the TA11-H Green on my SCAR17S .308 BDC and one on my AR .223/5.56. BDC 3.5X35 is perfect and FOV is plenty, the gree does not wash out in almost all conditions. Thanks for sharing, Ray

Great review, Mike. Just picked up a TA-11 for my full size BG Defense Type A yesterday. Headed to zero it tomorrow. My price out the door from my local gun store was $1,219 tax included. Sounds like the military is moving away from these for a Vortex optic, so hopefully the price comes down on these.
Good Morning ,excellent review as usual ,Acog is still top notch in my book ,very happy with my Acog 4x32 Dual Crosshair,Ballistic Reticle, Thanks another to add on Xmas list lol.Thank YOU!!! :-) :-)
My Acog cost me somewhere around $2.5k. I put it on my bushmaster ACR and all nato rounds. I want to be buried with that gun and I’m not being sarcastic.
Aaron Morgan. You can find used ACOG’s on EBay at a much more reasonable price. But be careful there are fakes that aren’t worth the price of a used Trijicon. I bought a used TA11 for $699 that listed for $1300+. Check with Trijicon with the serial number for the age of manufacture. The Tritium has a half life of 12 years. After that you will need to send it to Trijicon to replace the tritium insert which is $160.
Thanks, nice video, I spent 3 years considering what to put on a 16" M4 rifle didn't even give Acog a thought, kept thinking Nightforce until I walked into my local gun shop. Went with the TA11J Acog just because it looked like it was made for the rifle and the reticle was sweet, after spending several months with the Acog out hunting it was the best choice I could have made. Because of the capability of my Nightforce on a bolt action rifle I'm always adjusting the zoom for different reasons, I'm pleased to take the adjustment habit out of the mix utilizing the Acog magnified fix power for the M4, the right way to go with the M4 system.
I have a problem of everything on the TA11 beung very foggy in close quarters. I can't seen anything across a room. Not sure if there is a problem or not?
Is there any noticeable difference if I use this for 5.56? I know .223 and 5.56 are basically the same but I think 5.56 is supposed to be able to shoot farther since it has a little more powder right? I’m new to guns so I’m not sure
Put a TA11H-G on my HK93 clone this year and it is sweeeeet.... Tired the of screws getting loose on the mount so maybe that Geissele SP is a new must to complete that rifles pure awesome range fun.
No its actually domestic production from Moore Advanced Dynamics and actually takes AR mags and has a welded rail mount too so its a money saver as I see it.
How does the eye relief feel when shooting from a fully squared off stance with the A2 stock? Planning on an enhanced M16a4 build. I love the fixed stock, but I shoot squared off and not bladed.
I'd bet it's related to focal depth and eye relief. The 3.5x also has about twice the eye relief distance that the 4x does. I'm thinking that the longer focusing distance inside the optic (thus the larger optic size) might be related.| I'm not an engineer, physicist, optician, or anything like that though, so it's just a WAG.
3.5x has larger lens *and* lower magnification, so it is brighter (gathers more light). It's just basic physics. Given similar glass quality and design, a scope with a larger objective lens will have brighter image. For example, 6-24x56mm will have brighter image than 6-24x50mm at the same magnification setting. People who hunt during low light (dawn/dusk) prefer larger scopes. I don't have a TA31, but on TA11, the magnified image actually looks brighter than the non-magnified (the other eye) image. I didn't try to measure it or anything, so I can't state that as a fact, though. I guess I could try to hook it up to a digital camera with manual controls and actually measure the brightness.
WoT Professional It would be fine for that, but I dont think you would want it for precision. It's designed for combat hits at varying distances, not so much precise groupings.

762x35mm GG&G I'm pretty sure made a non-reciprocating kit for the Scar. I don't think they do anymore because nobody bought it. The charging handle reciprocating isn't a big deal at all. If you shoot AK, mini-14, M1a, and so on. You can shoot a Scar or Bren. Personal I prefer to have a charging handle that's connected directly to the bolt. It's nice to have that control. What I'm amazed about is the fact you say you'll take extra weight for a non-reciprocating bolt. That's crazy. Weight is everything on a gun.
I'd imagine the Scar would be a little more accurate. FN makes perfect barrels and the 17s is known for its amazing accuracy. So I'd imagine the 16s is the same way.
@Mrgunsngear-Totally unrelated I know, but can you please consider doing some reviews on the new Gen2 AK Side Rail mounts from Midwest Industries? They now have specific mounts for Aimpoint T1/T2, ACOG, Mini ACOG, and Trijicon MRO.
