Yeah I have two of these, a NSN and a standard one from ‘04, tritium still bright. Trij told me the older ones had more tritium and can last 20 years or more. Love the Acog, think I have 8 or more different ones. I might have a problem. Just works so well, my 3.5 green donut ta11 probably has some of the best optics of any glass I’ve looked through. I don’t think there is another optic our there with a service record that can compete. Love the TA01NSN
Not a chance you can realistically break an acog. Until a Lcpl brings one back to you when you're an armorer. A hungover Lcpl or Pfc can break wolverines bones by accident.
Been a few years but we broke more than a few just on the annual rifle range…. They had been in more work ups and deployments, jumps, and dives than the people using them. So over time, gear breaks. Turrets were always what broke and either spun freely or just didnt make any adjustments.
Mr. GnG: Another great video and an outstanding Optic, all one now needs is a large bank account. Not a complaint, just an observation. Keep up with all your great work.
I have this mouth on my M4. I've got an arms quick detach mount that got rid of the factory and went with the quick detach. I think it's one of the best combat scopes that you could have. They have come out with Retical configurations They are nice I wish this scope had it however to dump this scope and to go out and buy another win that cost 11 $1200 it's not worth the money. Love the one you're with.
Nice used ones can be had from about 6-8 hundred. About the same ballpark as a nice Aimpoint. Not too bad for one of the best combat scopes ever made. An equal quality lpv will be around 2k or more and much heavier. Just depends on what you need, but an Acog is not overpriced just on the basis of construction alone.
They might be expensive but most combat proven optics are . When you comparing a T2 or Comp M5 to a TA31 ACSS or TA44 ACSS. There is less than $200 diffrence or no diffrence at all. For me I would choose a TA44 ACSS every single time over a T2 or Comp M5 . I kniw Aimpoint has ridiculous battery life but having no batteries is a win win . Primary Arms has some decent deals sometimes for the ACSS Versions. I've seen the TA44 ACSS with ADM QD Mount for $800 . Now that's a solid price
You can pick used TA01NSN for under $600. I paid $590 for mine . There's crap ton of used ones out there . I got my TA31 for $700 . You just gotta have the money when you see it available. I want the TA31 ACSS AURORA. Pair that with RMR and that's a pretty awesome setup . Accupoint and ACOG are my go too .
Having used this sight in the army, it is very much worth every penny for it. Saying it is too much for a fixed power scope is saying you haven’t used it to me. Everything about it is purpose built to put rounds on target with no effort to 600 meters. From the quality of the glass to even the magnification used.
It's one of those things. I want one, I've wanted one for years, but I'd rather buy another gun instead. Realistically having a few guns with proper kit is a better idea than having a bunch of guns as they came from the factory but it always feels like I'm a few guns short of the base roster.
Even without fiber optics during the day can you run this both eyes open during daytime and is the tritium bright enough to see in the dark with the naked eye.
Philosophy of use. If you're unlikely to shoot out past 100yds, a decent red dot will do and may even be faster. If the possibility of engagement beyond exists, working around the eye relief is resolved by simply sliding the optic back on the rail and drilling a consistent cheek weld.
The thing about the 4x ACOGs is that you can use it with longer eye relief you will just get a bit more scope shadow effect sacrificing the FOV like you would when using a TA33 and a TA11 anyways.
Great review, I have to ask about the replacement tritium. If after the 12th plus years you try and send back your ACOG for tritium replacement, will it cost half as much as the optic? Or will trijicon warrant the tritium?
I had to send back the M150 I had on my M4gery because the chevron tritium vial malfunctioned and the green chevron looked like "Booger" from the mucinex commercial, they replaced the vial for free. Don't know if this helps or not.
