Yeah these guys are just pointless. I'm as much for Case as I am for Deere but "little throttle" and little shifter", I mean come on, what kind of a comparison is this anyway. I love the Magnums but in my personal opinion the only 2 things better on them than on the Deere is opening the hood and the cab is bigger, not more comfortable but more space which is great
It's almost comical that nearly every complaint about the Deere is about something that was ahead of its time, and they didn't like it because it was different than what they were used to. Now, those designs are used in all modern tractors. These guys liked the huge, manually operated hydraulic levers? Really? Just the ability to set the SCV to constant flow or set the time that it operates on the Deere is leaps and bounds ahead of an old lever. Put current farmers in those two tractors now, and I'll bet the overwhelming majority will pick the Deere
Still have two Magnums on the farm an 8920 and a 7120 the 7120 gets twice as much use as any of the tractors we have and even after 33 years it still is proof of reliability! Nothing can stand up to the reliability of those early magnums
Well I've ran an 8300 and 8320 JD alot and I just bought a low time 8930 so that tells you which one I think wins hands down. Wouldn't waste my money on something that has to be hauled off to the shop several times before it hits 3000 hrs and this case IH has never needed to see the dealer since new. Theyre always that way. Deer gets problems while the case IH just needs oil and lube and keeps going just like they should.
@@lovetofly32 I will always prefer the deere. So much more ergonomic than the magnum. Visibility is much better, the cab layout is much better. Dealer service for case is almost non existent around here so 75% of everyone has deeres. Even the diehard IH and case farm up the road had 2 8235r deeres show up. Lol not to mention, case totally copied deeres command arm in their later MX series tractors so everything they were saying about the cab layout in this video was total BS.
We went from a 7140 to an 8400 and the Deere wins over anything. I think we bought our 7140 brand new and my dad got to watch them build the Case tractors brand new. But anyway the Case was crap when it was brand new and it never had any power and it always leaked oil, on top of all the other problems it had. Then we got our 8400 and it sounds better, has lots more power, way better visibility, and doesn't nearly have as many problems as the case. Overall I would pick the Deere hands down over any Case of that era.
Put both of those tractors on 30" spacing. And there's no doubt the John deere will win Hands down! ✌️ It's funny there was no mention on the turning radius😆😆
The Magnum is good tractor. I have run a 7250 and a 8400 set up the same working ground. The 7250 didn't want any of the 8400. Comparing oranges to apples!
I worked for a farmer in high-school that had these two tractors. But the magnum was a 7140 and the deere was a 8300. Me and my sister ran them. She got the deere and I got the magnum. Gosh I miss those days. He sold the magnum later on simply because he had it way longer than the deere. And he was a Ford and deere guy🙄 I always noticed and disliked all the same things these guys pointed out with the deere. Another thing was that it would power hop when you tried to use all of its power with a disc. I hated that! I aired down the tires but it didn't seem to help much. That magnum was so cool. I remember it would get low on fuel first because it had a smaller tank but definitely run all day on 3/4 tank. Hoping to buy one for our farm 20 years later. Searching for a low time one. Seems hard to find.
i drive a 8100 and i can 100% confirm the thing shifts like if its learning to drive stick, from 5th to 4th if your not prepared it will launch you out of the seat and into the wheel, but for the cluster i love it, tilt the seat to the right a bit and boom just gotta move your head a little bit to see everything, i love it for cultivation easy to see out of and great for when you do your head land there have been times when i was learning from my old man on how to do feild work when i clipped a few posts with the cultivator when we had a 7810 but that cab is amazing to me
They complained about the gauges on the JD being on the side, instead of on the dash. But they don't complain, operating a combine. I think it was a biased Case commercial.
Lol. Just made me laugh the whole time. Very entertaining! I love how every one of them talked about the magnums they had back home. And then having to raise your hood to service the deere. Now I will say that we had an 8410 that was the worst thing ever to prime the fuel system after changing the fuel filter. Just took forever for some reason. But other than that it was very dependable and probably the best sounding diesel ever made. This video reminds me of one case did when deere came out with the rx. They were talking about the fuel savings and ease of pull the case had on the ripper and you could see how they had the one on the case set a couple inches shallower. Lol. Whatever it takes to sell tractors I guess.
Never drove a magnum but from what I was led to believe they were like an old plow horse where the Deere was more agile. But hands down the magnum is better on fuel efficiency that right now today is a big plus
I'm working on both right now in the shop. Both are good tractors and I've spent alot of time running both. The magnum powershift is way smother and the hood on the deere sucks. I told a guy the other day if it wasn't for the magnum john deere would pobly still building sound gaurd tractors. I do know ive replaced alot more mfwd seals on the deere and alot of exhaust gaskets and bolts on the deere.
So your telling me you want to lean down to shift gears and you rely on feel to know which gear your in? Dude get real, use your eyes. There was a lot of petty things these guys were saying.
I don't really like this video, and I am a case man. But I bought a new Case IH 7230 in 1995, was my main tractor until 2020, and has about 5800 hours on it now. I spend about $3000 on repairs in all those years, that's not bad. It is still in showroom condition. I bet it would bring $100000 CAN on a Ritchie Bros auction today.
I simply don't agree on pretty much any of their points here. Power shift, Traction, Engine (partly) and visibility. I think it's not a fair fight at all. First of all they seem to have absolutely no experience with these Deere. Were actually running more Magnums and for longer as well but the Deere is almost in every way better. For example the visibility is not even close on the Magnum but for their particular jobs they "don't need" better visibility, that's just ignorant in my opinion. You cant have a bunch of Case guys compare Case to Deere, not shit they'll go for the Magnum
