We live in a world of addictions. One of the most crippling addictions is to our common unwanted emotional states. In order to change, we have to change on a deeper level.
Feed your mind with the thoughts you want
Feed your body the nutrition it needs
Fill your heart with love and gratitude

That was a beautiful way of putting it. it’s so good I hesitate to add to it. but I wrote it down and tried to expand it as a guideline for life by adding:
Feed the brain with the true knowledge it needs
Feed the body with nutrition and activity
Feed the spirit with peace and good energy
Feed your heart and those around you with love and gratitude
Surround yourself with good people who do the same.

100% correct. Easier said than done but that is the message people need to hear and which I also send out to others. Getting out of the rat race and achieving financial freedom is key to this aspect. You also need to rid yourself of people around you that influence you negatively.

She is literally enlightening me with lot of information for free, I pay almost 100 dlls in Mexico for an appointment with a doctor and only find a cold, rigid, arrogant face of a doctor that avoid questions and seriously, is hard this days to make a doctor listen to you and as a woman you feel very vulnerable with women health issues and you need someone to listen. She comes forward and tells you absolutely everything for free and with a lot of common sense and empathy. I just love her!

Wonderful woman and interview. I remember discussing these studies on birth control and attraction in my cognitive psych class back in college and nobody in my day to day life knew anything about it and took it seriously.
Also, my gyno told me that my hormonal issues would not be effected by food and that I should take the pill and stop worrying about it. My severe dysmenorrhea is actually always a bit better on the months that I’m lower carb and eating whole foods / no sugar. Each subsequent gyno has tried to put me on hormones, but I have other hormone issues as well (prolactin and TSH) and I believe it should go deeper than band aiding the issue. It may be a pituitary issue or a host of other things, but I do know that eating more natural foods and lower carb helps all around. Whatever it is, food does help and I can’t believe people straight up deny that food has an effect on these systems. Absolute madness. Thank you Jolene! Thanks Tom! Subscribed to Jolene’s channel for sure!

I love how this brilliant Dr. emphasizes personalization when it comes to diet, treatment, etc. and points out how substances ie gluten, sugar, etc. can affect each person differently. I feel that not many functional doctors and naturopaths remember that often enough. Also what an individual needs will change too depending on what’s going on in life ie puberty, pregnancy, marathon training, heavy traveling, building a business where you don’t get to sleep enough, mold mycotoxins exposure, trauma. I know many people with 9+ ACEs go onto to live lives full of joy, health, abundance and fulfillment. Agree wholeheartedly that loving yourself is the most important thing everyone can do for themselves and others. Your taste in people will change. I love how you said you have compassion for them without having a relationship with them. Your taste in what you allow into your body will change. Your choices will change.

I relate to her strongly, everything she's mentioning I've been through as well. Just one note, I appreciate her wanting to process emotions and help people by not violating their boundaries. Thing is, severely traumatized people like us often have savior complexes. This hinders us a lot instead of realizing our instincts are toxic and shitty because of how we were raised. It's better to acknowledge it. I know too many women with extreme trauma that inherit narcissist behaviors, avoid accountability and use 'helping others' as a distraction tactic from confronting their demons whom they have slowly become...

Thank you for this great interview. I wish I knew even a tenth of what you know Jolene. I need so badly to change my eating habits. Not for size, but for internal health, but because of time and money, and cooking skills, too many times I resort to Taco Bell or Little Caesars pizza or a quick pasta meal from a box. I’m single and it makes it so easy to do bad when there isn’t anyone else to displease. So after making my bad decisions, I’m full of food, but also full of regret. To have someone with me that wanted the same things, would make it much easier I think. I don’t know. I’m going to subscribe to your channel as soon as I’m done writing this. Maybe that will help. Keep up the great work of spreading your wisdom and helping those in need.

Great information... when I hear these kinds of stories I realize how great I had it growing up. Loving parents that always supported and still support me however they can.
Another takeaway for me is that I need to spend more time just thinking instead of always in go go go mode.

Thank you so much for sharing your take aways. And while there were definitely hard times for me, my parents did work very hard to make sure I had a roof over my head. Even in our struggles we can find things to be grateful for.

Whoa Tom! The fit tho! I cannot stop staring at those pants, the socks, the kicks. Feeeeling that! Really enjoyed this episode. She has a very similar story to me and it really soothed my soul her saying, I had to let those people go for my health. I've had A LOT of people negatively judge my decision to not be in contact with my abusive parents. Ya, everyone has pain and I'm not the only one. Great show.... As usual! ❤️

I changed my diet to only baked chicken breast, raw veggies and sweet potatoe... and also started taking black seed oil and drinking apple cider bish at and water everyday! My stomach has never felt better! Lol I’m not even 3 minutes in but I had to share that!

The only thing I would add or point out regarding soy milk vs cow milk is that soy is a plant based estrogen that would only affect us if eaten in very high doses, where as cows milk (produced by mama for growing baby cows so that they quickly gain up to 1500lbs) not only has mammal estrogen (therefore closer to us genetically), but often has increased estrogen due to farmers giving milking-cows high doses of estrogen to increase milk production. If you're worried about estrogen intake, I'd stay away from dairy far more than I would soy products.

The problem when these people say things like this is that they are trashing anyone who is a dental assistant telling them they are wasting their lives, at what point do we stop doing this to other people. At what point are we going to stop trashing everyone who isn't a CEO. People don't think that through when they say things like that. The world needs dental assistants, and every other position that's in that range. Is it fair to tell them "That's good for them, but I'm better than that".
