So get this Motorman, I broke my neck, my cervical spine twice ‘on the job’ as we say in LE. I am fused from C2 to T1 and I lost 50% of the ability to turn my head left and right, and up and down and I still ride.
And…it gets better, over the last 3 years I have had six, count em, six lumbar spine surgeries and I am fused at four levels in the lumbar region, and I still ride.
Got off the bike last July because of a congenital spine defect that was disclosed on a MRI and had three spine in September. Two years earlier, I sustained a lumbar spine injury in the exact same location and that required 3 lumbar spine surgeries. Yes, 6 lumbar spine surgeries in the exact same location in 3 years.
Two weeks ago I finally got back on my 2012 HD Ultra Classic and I am back in the saddle riding again.
Twenty five years as a Federal Agent, 3 cervical spine surgeries, 6 lumbar spine surgeries and I am riding again.

I have that same bike and yea before I saw your channel and one other similar (paying it forward) the 900lb bike was a lot. I was confident enough gas stations and parking at places was ehhh not what I looked forward to but manageable. A u turn on a 2 lane I never would of done I would ride miles and find a lot to turn in. Now- I own that. I’m actually in control of the bike now. Friends (other riders too) have been way impressed these big bikes were even capable of being this nimble. Thanks a ton.
Jerry, now I know why my Harley just sits here. I can make some of those moves on my street bike, so now I MUST PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE... and get my skills upgraded to the heavy Harley. You have helped me so much with this and many of your videos. I’ve been riding for awhile but sold my 2011 Street Glide about 3 years ago. I just bought a 2022 CVO Street Glide. It felt like a monster bike to me & way bigger than my 2011. I had really lost fundamentals of riding & I no doubt was intimidated by this big expensive 900 pound bike. I really didn’t want to ride it & thought maybe I’ve just lost that passion I use to have to ride. I started to watch your videos with this one being the most recent. The exercises back to the basics & practice has made a huge difference & I’m getting back to where I need to be in handling that bike. THANK YOU! You are spot on! My advanced class taught me techniques identical to yours. They called it keeping your bike in “Torque”. Of course that included clutch, throttle and use of the rear brake!

Jerry you speak with the truth! I live in Mexico, where car accidents are easy to happen, I have a 125cc which is a super lighter bike 240lb or less, but as you stated, I can muscle the bike because it's manageable, but with monsters like 900lb it's waaay out of proportion. With your techniques everyday I'm improving, to handle just with throttle, rear brake and control . Thanks for sharing

Bought Riide like a pro 6 years ago when I bought my first bike in 30 years. Built my confidence and riding skills right up there. I still watch that video at the beginning of every riding season and o ya ,bought a 800 LB Heritage and I ride her like a pro .
This is life saving information! Not just for 900lb motorcycles but ALL motorcycles! Even if you’ve been riding “your whole life” Do yourself a favor and put that Pride away and LEARN from someone who knows more than you aka The Motorman 👍

I owe the entirety of my riding to this man and his teachings, in a set of DVD's from 2010. I cannot recommend the full video course enough and even to those who are experienced riders.
As a new Harley rider these skills are something that are more essential than on a sport bike or you can get away on a sport bike

Man Jerry I wished this 72 yr old vet could take lessons directly from you! I can barely do figure 8's on my Dyna! Dang you make it look so easy! I do use your pushing with a finger or so on turns and it works great! Come up tp PA please?
These videos are perfect, brilliant. I did get the three downloads RLAP Experience, Surviving the Mean Streets 2, and Riding the Dragon; they are exceptional work, truly. I also got your practice guide and I'm out a the high-school parking lot almost every day. I can tell you I'm NOT a duck-walking duffus (anymore) and while I wouldn't be able to pass your class today, I'm on my way to being able to pass it. I can do a reasonable U turn on my Heritage Springer Softail without touching a foot down, which was my first real goal here. I can now confidently turn that baby around without fear of leans or drops... and I thank you Motorman! Truly.

I just took my new Road King around an empty parking lot getting a feel for the friction zone and rear brake power. That dip is unsettling, Jerry. I've got you in my head and making it happen though haha.
First exercise I taught my wife, 16yr old daughter, and 14yr old son when they wanted to learn. They all learned on my wife's Honda Fury, the one we had that they could all fit

I took the MSF course to get my MC Lic 18yrs ago and rode the V twin during the class, did the V8 turn perfectly in the small box. Problem is, I've mainly ridden a 79' KZ1000 ST and 2yrs ago I bought a new 21' Vaquero. So yeah, having to relearn how to ride again. I live in SE NH so I have all types of terrain & weather here.

Mr. Palladino: I have your 'RIDE LIKE A PRO' from 2-4 years ago.I recommend it to most riders I talk with.., new or experienced. I review it every so often to keep it embedded in my head while riding. This one is a "refresher" of your teachings and all of your videos are great. However, the title above is misleading. It sounds like 3 "Items" you should have. Maybe: "You MUST LEARN 3 things...".

love your videos, I been riding since the 70s, I have a 2014 ultra and the only thing I don't like is the hydraulic clutch it is BS, watching your videos remind me of things I have forgotten over the years. I ride at 10 mph in my neighborhood, and it gives me good practice. my bike idles at 10 mph, so it works without using the clutch, but my fingers are always on it. the day I bought my bike I guy dropped his right there at the dealership, my wife was now scared of how big the bike was, even thou it's no bigger than my 1300 v-star the was full dressed, and I'm 6'5" the guy who his was short and did not use the kick stand right, my foot stays on it until the bike is on it. maybe you should do a video about how to park a bike. this is where I see the most drops in my life. it's funny how many people don't know how to park when there is a little downhill. they just let it roll right off the stand.

I gotta tell ya, I practice all the time and still have trouble with the friction zone. I have a hydraulic clutch on my Road King and it seems like it's either on or off no friction zone. I put an aftermarket slave cylinder on which helps and gives me a little friction zone, but still very touchy.

I have a 2005 shadow and can usually get to 3mph before I think about putting a foot down. Definitely depends on traffic and road conditions
Great video Jerry 📽️ Really shows any bike peeps out there how to actually ride the big bikes. As you have said previously it's not rocket science and is just all technique riding bikes. Hopefully all the dofus bike riders out there do watch this video as it's excellent and learn how to do it and buy your videos too.
you have a better clutch "friction zone" because it is a WET clutch as opposed to an auto's dry clutch. thou an auto does have a 'friction zone' but non technical people do not understand how to apply it to traction and force.

If you going to use the friction zone a lot, you need to reset the clutch. The factory is 1/2 turn ,for more friction zone you adjust it out 1 turn.

Using the rear brake and not the front, at low speed was the hardest thing to get used to.

On my first ride on my 1200 Goldwing I took the bike around a 1/4 mile loop in my mobile home park. Partly because of speed bumps, I had a terrible time with the bike jerking. 1st gear was too low, and second was too high. I had to go too fast, and I had to steer between the middle of the speed bumps where there is a gap about 18" wide.
I'm holding on to it for now for no other reason than to see how things go with the bike mechanically.
I have a 2008 Peace Officer Special Edition with 113k miles on it. Original owner and don't forget "the dip" before a u-turnn.

46 yrs MC on my licence. First hearing understanding past near disaster errors letting clutch out on HD FX afterbring revs up further not wanting to stall engine ,I didn't hear rear wheel spin with dealer supplied helmet on and the bike rocketed across the street in to the front fender of my parked Vega in wheelie position kept me from flying off the bike. The Vega saved me from the brick wall that I parked along side of. The guy from dealership ran out , shut off engine that was still grunting against the Vega front wheel, my knee hurt I didn't know what whent wrong pieces of

Yes, I bought a 2007 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe from a guy who was fresh out of the MSF course. He wanted a big cruiser and bought that. It tips the scales at about 840 lbs. He couldn't handle it properly and was turned off by it and parked it in his garage. He held onto it for a few years riding it sparingly before he decided to sell it to me. I got a 10-year-old bike (bought in 2017) with 4k miles on it. I've since passed 60k on it using it for trips and long weekend rides. Got it dirt cheap because he needed room in his garage and the wife wanted it gone like yesterday. I tried not to laugh as he told me he was going to take the money and buy a sport bike. Even worse. I see lots of riders who spend money on a big bike with a shytload of chrome and an upgraded stereo blasting yet cannot ride. They are duck walking doofus club members all day long. and they cannot make simple turns. This always made no sense to me. Why not spend money on a course like Jerry's to learn to properly handle what you just sunk a boatload of cash on?
I need to get past the fear of I’m going to burn the clutch(drove a lot of standards but mostly trucks)

All you riders want to find out if a big bike is for you come visit me here in the desert of New Mexico. It's not hard to ride down the road. But if you want to know if you can handle a big bike, they say do not ride in sand. I ride 7 miles on sand each time I leave home or return home. It is a harry ride but it will teach you about riding a big bike. Have fun riding and ride with God.
My riding buddy said I ride it like a dirt bike. I told him I don't have much choice it is going to go where it wants to go on sand and you better be able to know what is coming as it starts and be able to correct before it happens.

I snagged my 02' Deuce 14yrs old, out of a garden shed with 3k on the clock for $5k 6yrs ago. I walked into Miracle Mile Harley on the next free barbecue day and saw a blue 03' Deuce with 18k on its clock for $11k! The stealership offered me $6500 trade in, if I bought a bike off the floor 😂😂😂
I still have to figure out the rear brake when turning. I tried it and wound up dropping the bike.
Sounds like you need to sign up for the basic beginner's course to get a grasp of the fundamentals of riding.
Where can I sign up for your course? I am a fairly experienced rider, but I am a first time owner of a big bike. A 2022 Street Glide. I get nervous making tight turns at low speeds. I bought it new and now have over 6k miles on it. I would also love to get my youngest daughter to take your course.
