Damn, I knew Tommy was scared of Dream, but I never expected it to be vice-versa as well. it looks like his obsessions with the boy has started to drive Dream insane.
I love the facial expression but more than that I love the story telling. Dream expresses his frustrations of Tommy staying mostly sane, especially after all the trauma he put Tommy through. About how Tommy, out of everyone, pisses him off. And then...he cuts himself on accident. He looks at his hand, covered in small spatters of his blood and his missing finger (most likely due to what Hollow_Swift mentioned). Dream is forced to remember the trauma he himself went through at the hands of Quackity. And then he sees a mirage of Tommy (before his eyes went to a blue-grey) staring back at him through the mirror, yet nothing is behind him. And then the realization and the numbness that comes with it. The simple realization that 1) He brought Tommy back himself and 2) He can't fault Tommy for the prison, even if he wanted to. He is forced to realize that Tommy went through a similar torture at Dream's hands. That he himself would have left Quackity in that prison too. That, even if they hate eachother, they are the only two people who can understand what such torture is. And as angry as he is at Tommy, Dream feels nothing but numbness because that is exactly what he would have done too. I hope I got my thought process to the right conclusion. But I could be wrong :)
the part when Dream’s talking about Tommy being the closet thing he has to a companion because he’s stripped away all other connections on his quest for power. He can control Tommy as his unexpectedness is expected and it’s relevant to when he’s cutting his hair as if he too need to feel like he has some power. I love the end when Dream talks about feeling nothing while staring back and (the ghost of Tommy i believe) and says that he feels nothing cause it almost sounds like he’s convincing himself he doesn’t feel anything towards him. BEAUTIFULLY DONE AND WONDERFULLY EXECUTED!
Am I the only one to find that image of Punz and Dream at the end so cute? I don't know what they're saying, but I find that adorable to see Punz taking care of Dream's hair because he probably messed up xD
I'm going give to you a very basic translation of what they're saying- Punz: What the FUCK did you do to your hair?! Dream: Made it complete shit **Crying lol** I love it lmao, the spanish caught off guard and somehow made 101% funnier for me.
Dream is really starting to build up a pretty solid team. Punz is definitely on his side, he and techno's group were on somewhat good terms so I find it easy to believe now that techno's gone they'll rally with dream, from what I can gather wilbur is a dream supporter, and with what dream's been doing with sam I wouldn't be surprised if he joined dream at some point, or at least became a fellow villain and no longer an enemy

"There's something keeping [him] alive, something I can't bottle up." I like to interpret this line as referring to c!Tommy's friends/family, as while c!Dream could physically separate c!Tommy from them, he couldn't make him stop loving them or trying to get back to them. And c!Tommy couldn't survive without some connection or something to hope for, so in a sense the people he cares about are keeping him alive.
I like someone actually showing c!dreams trauma. Like he was in prison tourchered. Sure hes a psychopath but like, he has a backstory too. This is a wonderful animatic
I think it adds some wonderful layers to dream's character, because I can't see how someone can spend every waking hour plotting someone's downfall, manipulating them and smothering them and NOT be affected. Dream cut everyone off in the pursuit of his goal, and got rid of the very things that tethered him to his humanity. The time spent with Tommy in exile is the kind of situation that forms trauma bonds (a kind of unhealthy 'love', between an abuser and the abusee. Emotional abuse or manipulation often leaves feelings that are misunderstood as affection) And dream went from a position of almost complete 'power' and control to the most powerless he's ever been. Combine that mental leap [taking away a mentally ill person's obsession or feeling of control without a support system in place is never a good idea] and the torture and isolation would surely break any man. It makes dream scarier in my opinion, there's nothing more frightening than when someone who always seems unbothered lose their shit. And to know that there are none of the boundaries there are in most relationships, like I'm sure tommy was atleast knew dream wouldnt kill him before the prison, but to know that someone who is pissed at you, has no qualms about killing you if need be and is wildly unpredictable. Shit.
Finally! Someone confronting how Dream feels in all this shit he’s done. He has trauma, and now he has serious scars. For once he was powerless, where usually he rules undisputed.
This animatic it's just so good i need to come back to it. The scenes at the start with dream scaring tommy just to come back to his cave to start to spiral bc he Lost control and the torture it's proof of that. It's just so good i love it. And i love the tiny drunz moment at the end lmaooo dream it's not the Best in doing haircuts xddd
You know, during the exile confrontation Dream was repeating a lot of what Quackity had said to HIM and applying it towards Tommy. I think this song would also fit Dream and Sam’s dynamic so putting it to Dream and Tommy post-prison really kinda puts that double meaning to it as well.

Oh I just noticed Tommy's puppet has his wounds- theres stitching across the centre of his skull where there's a scar and another on his right arm which was bandaged up. He also had a scar on his left side jaw and there's stuffing coming out of there. Cool detail!

I literally JUST stumbled across the WIP for this and I check the channel and the full thing’s premiering in 27 minutes after five months?? This is awesome, I’m so hyped Edit: THAT WAS AWESOME! This song fits so well, I love how you tie the prison and his relationship to Tommy together, because I think those two really define him as a person. And the phantom Tommy at the end? So cool
THIS IS SO FUCKING COOL DUDEEEE. this is like the only depiction of c!dream EVER because it paints him as a complex character while also being a horrible person. that ending line fits so well goddd. you illustrated how c!dream wants control of everything and is very full of himself, and he takes out his frustration (and trauma) on c!tommy. how far his minds gone off the deep end that he doesnt even care about his morals anymore. and hes so frustrated that c!tommy has that, and that while his abuse of him has been shown to be fun and like a game to c!dream, hes still angry that c!tommy hasnt given up yet. props to you
Is it just me or does Dream kinda look like Tommy after that haircut? Makes me believe it was either unintentional mimicing on Dream's part, or an artistic choice by the artist to emphasize Dream and Tommy's parallel stories.
AHHH I CANT EXPRESS HOW AMAZING I THINK THIS IS OMGGGGG it demonstrates their relationship so well in all it’s sick and twisted glory. That ending when dream is looking in the mirror and sees a phantom of Tommy and when the “out of all these wh*res hes had the most” part was just AHHH. This has watered my gardens cleared my skin fixed my phone charger and is keeping both sides of my pillow cold truly phenomenal
Also I rewatched it and- intentional or not dream and Tommy having matching scars across the bridge of their nose is such a good detail. This might be me reading to much into it but it almost conveys how they have ruined each other and yet are interconnected within their storylines, like Tommy hates dream he has abused and tortured him and yet he still visited him in the prison and dream wants Tommy dead and out of his way yet brought him back to life to torture him more. Sorry I’m probably over analyzing this lol but I honestly can’t get enough of this animatic truly great work!
This is such a good representation of the extremely traumatic and complicated dynamic between c!Dream and c!Tommy! c!Dream’s struggling to fit c!Tommy into his plans between his considerable trauma (not just in the prison-a lot of his mindset suggests his backstory is not all sunshine and roses) and emotions that he keeps trying to deny exist. In the end, he’s only gotten more hurtful and self-destructive: an example, just like c!Tommy in exile, that you can’t hurt people into becoming better. Bravo! Well done!
12/10 Perfect. Also, the lyrics add some depth to it! Especially at the end. He says that whenever he looks at Tommy, he feels nothing. But that isn’t true. C!Tommy is one of his last attachments. No matter how much he tries to cut C!Tommy away, he can’t. And this is brilliantly shown in this video. Well done!
This may be one of the greatest DSMP animatics I've ever seen well done! I love all the details here, I love how the beginning of this seems like a game Dream is playing with Tommy!, 0:22 love the close up on Dream's face, Love how the next scene shows Dream's frustration with how Tommy somehow always seems to get just close enough to death but a little too far away as well and overall I just love all the conflicting emotions in this scene from Dream's frustration to his manic to absolute horror it's great. Okay now we get into the really great portion let's go. Love how through quick flashes we get references to Dream killing Tommy when Eret betrays them to Dream's duel with Tommy to killing Tommy in prison. Than I love that through Dream we see Tommy's entire life on the SMP from the disc saga to L'Manburg to Pogtopia to Exile to Prison and then to revival. 1:04 love how this implies that big Q specifically cut off Dream's middle finger very nice! love how we basically see Dream having a full on PTSD flashback, 1:08 love how Quackity looks here. And Now for the analysis: This song really does show a different side to Dream and Tommy's relationship and it is a side that I see rarely if EVER explored. Dream terrifies Tommy obviously but this animatic shows that Tommy also terrifies Dream as much as he annoys and frustrates him (which is to say a lot!). For Tommy Dream is the psychopathic monster who from day one has set out to ruin his life and to Dream Tommy is the annoying kid who showed up started ruining everything for fun and is now making himself into a victim. To Dream Tommy is also a psychopath a psychopath who showed up and started stealing and burning things down and starting conflicts for FUN!! Dream has tried and tried and tried to kill Tommy multiple times and yet even when he succeeded he still failed (Even after he killed him in prison he still brought him back) and *THAT* is what I believe terrifies Dream about Tommy the fact that somehow he keeps coming back over and over again. And yet despite everything Dream sees Tommy as his only "Companion" because in a sense he is! Tommy is the only person who Dream can be truly honest with because he's the only person who really sees Dream for what he is and that's scary....It's scary to have to have one person who really sees you for what you are when....You yourself don't even know what you are at this point.
I love this SO much. The sneak peek was a video I watched over and over again because I just absolutely adored it. And the wait was worth it!!! I love all the tiny details, and how it's only the blood and the toxic green that represents dream that have colors. I love how he has flashbacks, how when the song goes "after everything I've done to her" it flashes to all three of Tommy's deaths. And the DOLLS! Manipulation! He has everyone wrapped up in his threads (although admittedly I couldn't figure out who the back two were--who are they?) but only Tommy looks so damaged. Dream is fixated upon Tommy for some reason, enough so to hallucinate a spectre of him in the mirror, and you showed that so well! And the sequence that flashes by, of how Tommy looked when revived, was absolutely chilling. And then dream says he feels nothing about Tommy which is the biggest lie he's ever told himself.
haha completely agree! i think the back two ones are sam(?) and wilbur. wilbur is easy because of the streak in his hair and the coat outline, but i just took a guess on the sam one. i saw a mask / gas mask type thing, so.

This is so fricken cool omp- I've watched it on repeat at *least* 10 times. Primes this is amazing! There are so many cool details but I think the best part I really love is that,,, it shows C!Dream's side, his POV and his own trauma, without making it so his actions are at all justified to anyone watching. It really just, I love that. So much. Also, when he cut his hair, the striking resemblance he had to Tommy,,,,, I love that too. it's so. I just. MMMM I have so many thoughts on this animatic ad I can't put any of them into words. Just know I adore every single thing about this and it is going in my favourited animatics list. Thank you for this. I'm treasuring it for however long I shall.
Something I noticed: When the song starts the whole "The first one" part, Dream really starts to spiral. It's like Dream himself, or at least the old Dream, was actually New Dreams first victim all along.

The details in this animatic are amazing! The blood from his cut that sends him into his flashbacks, the hesitation when he says “I look at him” as if he’s scared or regretful of the things he did to Tommy. If you ever plan on fully animating this I think it would be so cool! This is truly a masterpiece.
THIS.IS.SO.COOL!!!!!! The designs for the characters, the little sound effects for the clash of the swords and the other things, Tommy's phantom, everything looks amazing!!!!! HOLY CRAP this is insane! Dream resembles Tommy SO MUCH with short hair--I wonder if that (compounded by the blood) triggered the flashback. I never considered how the mere thought of bloodshed brings Dream right back to prison (another parallel with how holes send Tommy into panic bc Exile), that was so brilliantly illustrated. And excellent use of static, the fluid body language, and perfectly on-beat integration of lyrics as dialogue was incredible and immersive.
The entire animation is amazing but I love the detail of the dolls at 0:37!! The obvious one is Tommy, along with Ranboo and Tubbo however you can also see other SMP members such as Techno, Eret, Sam and Wilbur! I just thought that the detail was cool :]
So I'm not caught up on all DSMP lore but know about enough to understand. This was really good, and I'm happy it's finished! I love the emotion you can take out of this! I also found when Dream was on his own, he reminds me a lot of Belos from The Owl House at the end of Elsewhere and Elsewhen.
Dream’s obsession with Tommy literally drove him nuts-everything that’s happened, it’s always been the two of them, even down to the end of Season 1-it’s literally always been the two of them. And Dream just fucking lost it along the line of trying to destroy Tommy-he thinks he’s in the right, the lines “I am the savior of this world!” With such a confident shout versus “he is the closest thing I have to a companion” is like a brutal statement for him to voice, while “I look at him. I look at him. And I feel….nothing.” Is just the flat truth. GOD, months later and this is still one of my favorite animatics I love it so much

I absolutely love this, all the small details like the middle finger being chopped off and the dolls w/ green strings referencing manipulation, I also love how it shows all 3 of Tommy’s deaths and shows Dream smiling when he’s trying to kill / acting like he’s going to kill Tommy- all in all this is astonishing. Great work:)
This is about to be buried in the comments, but can I just say that this is easily one of the best animatics over seen? The cinematography is so visually pleasing and smooth and the attention to detail just draws you in! I’ve watched this over several times now and it never fails to impress me. Seriously, well done.

I love this, so my theory on this is that Dream is so obsessed with Tommy that he starts hallucinating about him because he can't rest without Tommy being under his control, without him having power over Tommy like he did during exile or when he killed him in the prison. He's so hyper fixated on Tommy, but he gets frustrated at the fact he can't have that same power over him again or that he can't torment him more. The more and more he thinks about Tommy, is the more he will become even more unhinged and hallucinate about him, or maybe even fantasize about Tommy being helpless and at Dream's mercy and control. Decided to kinda remake this comment bc why not

god unironically i am like #1 dream hater but "she is the closest thing i have to a companion... and yet, i look at her, i look at her, and i feel... nothing" is SUCHHH a good analysis of his character oh my god. hes fucking crazy!!! i cant put it in to words but that just feels so correct. he has a codependent relationship with him so much but the dependency is on dream needing like - someone to fuck with, someone to have power over. in a way tommy is a companion in that regard, but dream really just _feels nothing,_ he wants power and control and he wants it over tommy specifically. but its still not enough and it will never be enough.
Oml I’ve never seen dream smp but the way you made this play out made it understandable even for me! The emotions are so raw and well executed and the storytelling is exquisite- keep it up!

dude, I know basically nothing about DSMP, but I'd already fallen in love with the WIP (one of my favorite songs). And this is so FASCINATING! I love the subtle sound effects that add an extra punch to the animatic. And I am a sucker for like glowing green eyes. It's so aesthetically pleasing to me. Seriously this is fantastic! I love when animatics use monochrome colors in order to let certain colors really POP!

I love the facial expression but more than that I love the story telling. Dream expresses his frustrations of Tommy staying mostly sane, especially after all the trauma he put Tommy through. About how Tommy, out of everyone, pisses him off. And then...he cuts himself on accident. He looks at his hand, covered in small spatters of his blood and his missing finger (most likely due to what Hollow_Swift mentioned). Dream is forced to remember the trauma he himself went through at the hands of Quackity. And then he sees a mirage of Tommy (before his eyes went to a blue-grey) staring back at him through the mirror, yet nothing is behind him. And then the realization and the numbness that comes with it.
The simple realization that 1) He brought Tommy back himself and 2) He can't fault Tommy for the prison, even if he wanted to. He is forced to realize that Tommy went through a similar torture at Dream's hands. That he himself would have left Quackity in that prison too. That, even if they hate eachother, they are the only two people who can understand what such torture is.
And as angry as he is at Tommy, Dream feels nothing but numbness because that is exactly what he would have done too.
I hope I got my thought process to the right conclusion. But I could be wrong :)

the part when Dream’s talking about Tommy being the closet thing he has to a companion because he’s stripped away all other connections on his quest for power. He can control Tommy as his unexpectedness is expected and it’s relevant to when he’s cutting his hair as if he too need to feel like he has some power. I love the end when Dream talks about feeling nothing while staring back and (the ghost of Tommy i believe) and says that he feels nothing cause it almost sounds like he’s convincing himself he doesn’t feel anything towards him. BEAUTIFULLY DONE AND WONDERFULLY EXECUTED!

Dream is really starting to build up a pretty solid team. Punz is definitely on his side, he and techno's group were on somewhat good terms so I find it easy to believe now that techno's gone they'll rally with dream, from what I can gather wilbur is a dream supporter, and with what dream's been doing with sam I wouldn't be surprised if he joined dream at some point, or at least became a fellow villain and no longer an enemy

i love the scene where tommys in the mirror with dream, implying he haunts dream as much as dream haunts him

I like to interpret this line as referring to c!Tommy's friends/family, as while c!Dream could physically separate c!Tommy from them, he couldn't make him stop loving them or trying to get back to them. And c!Tommy couldn't survive without some connection or something to hope for, so in a sense the people he cares about are keeping him alive.
It's especially interesting because dream doesn't understand that because he sees attachments only as a weakness

I like someone actually showing c!dreams trauma. Like he was in prison tourchered. Sure hes a psychopath but like, he has a backstory too. This is a wonderful animatic
I think it adds some wonderful layers to dream's character, because I can't see how someone can spend every waking hour plotting someone's downfall, manipulating them and smothering them and NOT be affected. Dream cut everyone off in the pursuit of his goal, and got rid of the very things that tethered him to his humanity. The time spent with Tommy in exile is the kind of situation that forms trauma bonds (a kind of unhealthy 'love', between an abuser and the abusee. Emotional abuse or manipulation often leaves feelings that are misunderstood as affection) And dream went from a position of almost complete 'power' and control to the most powerless he's ever been. Combine that mental leap [taking away a mentally ill person's obsession or feeling of control without a support system in place is never a good idea] and the torture and isolation would surely break any man. It makes dream scarier in my opinion, there's nothing more frightening than when someone who always seems unbothered lose their shit. And to know that there are none of the boundaries there are in most relationships, like I'm sure tommy was atleast knew dream wouldnt kill him before the prison, but to know that someone who is pissed at you, has no qualms about killing you if need be and is wildly unpredictable. Shit.
This will never stop being my favourite Dream SMP animation.
Finally! Someone confronting how Dream feels in all this shit he’s done. He has trauma, and now he has serious scars. For once he was powerless, where usually he rules undisputed.

You know, during the exile confrontation Dream was repeating a lot of what Quackity had said to HIM and applying it towards Tommy. I think this song would also fit Dream and Sam’s dynamic so putting it to Dream and Tommy post-prison really kinda puts that double meaning to it as well.

Oh I just noticed Tommy's puppet has his wounds- theres stitching across the centre of his skull where there's a scar and another on his right arm which was bandaged up. He also had a scar on his left side jaw and there's stuffing coming out of there. Cool detail!

Is it just me or does Dream kinda look like Tommy after that haircut? Makes me believe it was either unintentional mimicing on Dream's part, or an artistic choice by the artist to emphasize Dream and Tommy's parallel stories.

Also I rewatched it and- intentional or not dream and Tommy having matching scars across the bridge of their nose is such a good detail. This might be me reading to much into it but it almost conveys how they have ruined each other and yet are interconnected within their storylines, like Tommy hates dream he has abused and tortured him and yet he still visited him in the prison and dream wants Tommy dead and out of his way yet brought him back to life to torture him more. Sorry I’m probably over analyzing this lol but I honestly can’t get enough of this animatic truly great work!
This feels like its ripped straight out of a movie, a really good movie
This is such a good representation of the extremely traumatic and complicated dynamic between c!Dream and c!Tommy! c!Dream’s struggling to fit c!Tommy into his plans between his considerable trauma (not just in the prison-a lot of his mindset suggests his backstory is not all sunshine and roses) and emotions that he keeps trying to deny exist. In the end, he’s only gotten more hurtful and self-destructive: an example, just like c!Tommy in exile, that you can’t hurt people into becoming better. Bravo! Well done!

This may be one of the greatest DSMP animatics I've ever seen well done! I love all the details here, I love how the beginning of this seems like a game Dream is playing with Tommy!, 0:22 love the close up on Dream's face, Love how the next scene shows Dream's frustration with how Tommy somehow always seems to get just close enough to death but a little too far away as well and overall I just love all the conflicting emotions in this scene from Dream's frustration to his manic to absolute horror it's great. Okay now we get into the really great portion let's go. Love how through quick flashes we get references to Dream killing Tommy when Eret betrays them to Dream's duel with Tommy to killing Tommy in prison. Than I love that through Dream we see Tommy's entire life on the SMP from the disc saga to L'Manburg to Pogtopia to Exile to Prison and then to revival. 1:04 love how this implies that big Q specifically cut off Dream's middle finger very nice! love how we basically see Dream having a full on PTSD flashback, 1:08 love how Quackity looks here. And Now for the analysis:
This song really does show a different side to Dream and Tommy's relationship and it is a side that I see rarely if EVER explored. Dream terrifies Tommy obviously but this animatic shows that Tommy also terrifies Dream as much as he annoys and frustrates him (which is to say a lot!). For Tommy Dream is the psychopathic monster who from day one has set out to ruin his life and to Dream Tommy is the annoying kid who showed up started ruining everything for fun and is now making himself into a victim. To Dream Tommy is also a psychopath a psychopath who showed up and started stealing and burning things down and starting conflicts for FUN!! Dream has tried and tried and tried to kill Tommy multiple times and yet even when he succeeded he still failed (Even after he killed him in prison he still brought him back) and *THAT* is what I believe terrifies Dream about Tommy the fact that somehow he keeps coming back over and over again. And yet despite everything Dream sees Tommy as his only "Companion" because in a sense he is! Tommy is the only person who Dream can be truly honest with because he's the only person who really sees Dream for what he is and that's scary....It's scary to have to have one person who really sees you for what you are when....You yourself don't even know what you are at this point.
I love this SO much. The sneak peek was a video I watched over and over again because I just absolutely adored it. And the wait was worth it!!! I love all the tiny details, and how it's only the blood and the toxic green that represents dream that have colors. I love how he has flashbacks, how when the song goes "after everything I've done to her" it flashes to all three of Tommy's deaths. And the DOLLS! Manipulation! He has everyone wrapped up in his threads (although admittedly I couldn't figure out who the back two were--who are they?) but only Tommy looks so damaged. Dream is fixated upon Tommy for some reason, enough so to hallucinate a spectre of him in the mirror, and you showed that so well! And the sequence that flashes by, of how Tommy looked when revived, was absolutely chilling. And then dream says he feels nothing about Tommy which is the biggest lie he's ever told himself.

Something I noticed: When the song starts the whole "The first one" part, Dream really starts to spiral. It's like Dream himself, or at least the old Dream, was actually New Dreams first victim all along.

The blood from his cut that sends him into his flashbacks, the hesitation when he says “I look at him” as if he’s scared or regretful of the things he did to Tommy. If you ever plan on fully animating this I think it would be so cool! This is truly a masterpiece.

HOLY CRAP this is insane! Dream resembles Tommy SO MUCH with short hair--I wonder if that (compounded by the blood) triggered the flashback.
I never considered how the mere thought of bloodshed brings Dream right back to prison (another parallel with how holes send Tommy into panic bc Exile), that was so brilliantly illustrated.
And excellent use of static, the fluid body language, and perfectly on-beat integration of lyrics as dialogue was incredible and immersive.
The entire animation is amazing but I love the detail of the dolls at 0:37!! The obvious one is Tommy, along with Ranboo and Tubbo however you can also see other SMP members such as Techno, Eret, Sam and Wilbur! I just thought that the detail was cool :]
So I'm not caught up on all DSMP lore but know about enough to understand. This was really good, and I'm happy it's finished! I love the emotion you can take out of this!
I also found when Dream was on his own, he reminds me a lot of Belos from The Owl House at the end of Elsewhere and Elsewhen.
Dream’s obsession with Tommy literally drove him nuts-everything that’s happened, it’s always been the two of them, even down to the end of Season 1-it’s literally always been the two of them. And Dream just fucking lost it along the line of trying to destroy Tommy-he thinks he’s in the right, the lines “I am the savior of this world!” With such a confident shout versus “he is the closest thing I have to a companion” is like a brutal statement for him to voice, while “I look at him. I look at him. And I feel….nothing.” Is just the flat truth. GOD, months later and this is still one of my favorite animatics I love it so much

I absolutely love this, all the small details like the middle finger being chopped off and the dolls w/ green strings referencing manipulation, I also love how it shows all 3 of Tommy’s deaths and shows Dream smiling when he’s trying to kill / acting like he’s going to kill Tommy- all in all this is astonishing. This is about to be buried in the comments, but can I just say that this is easily one of the best animatics over seen? The cinematography is so visually pleasing and smooth and the attention to detail just draws you in! I’ve watched this over several times now and it never fails to impress me. Seriously, well done.

I love this, so my theory on this is that Dream is so obsessed with Tommy that he starts hallucinating about him because he can't rest without Tommy being under his control, without him having power over Tommy like he did during exile or when he killed him in the prison. He's so hyper fixated on Tommy, but he gets frustrated at the fact he can't have that same power over him again or that he can't torment him more. The more and more he thinks about Tommy, is the more he will become even more unhinged and hallucinate about him, or maybe even fantasize about Tommy being helpless and at Dream's mercy and control.

god unironically i am like #1 dream hater but "she is the closest thing i have to a companion... and yet, i look at her, i look at her, and i feel... nothing" is SUCHHH a good analysis of his character oh my god. hes fucking crazy!!! i cant put it in to words but that just feels so correct. he has a codependent relationship with him so much but the dependency is on dream needing like - someone to fuck with, someone to have power over. in a way tommy is a companion in that regard, but dream really just _feels nothing,_ he wants power and control and he wants it over tommy specifically. but its still not enough and it will never be enough.
