I don't care about the cost analysis of microgreen farming but I really enjoy your obvious passion for what you do. I think passion leads to success (and profits).
im using the shallow trays for my speckled pea and using only 8oz dry and getting almost a pound every time. selling 2oz for $5.00. try lowering your density 1 time for a trial at 8oz and see what you get. i soak my peas for 8 hours. broccoli is a big hit here in ohio. arugula and wasabi as well. thanks for this video, always informative. have a good one.
this by far, the coolest, most intresting type of hooby-into income i've witnessed. How often do you sell your products? Do most farmer work other full time jobs??
@@edwardadkins519 I do this full time. Our farm is in a historic residential area. We are on less than 1 acre. Purchased a 100 year old florist growing operation and we sell through our website and farmers markets. Have a good one.
Justin, I am just in the planning stages of starting a microgreen business. Actually I have a couple of trays started as practice. You videos are so helpful and encouraging to we newbies!
Great video, thank you for the information. I am looking to start a business in microgreens, and am just getting as much information as possible. your video was a great start. thanks again. I hope to find how-to videos to help in my education. Thank You..
**New Sub Here** Dude... Justin I have watched the video like 10 times over the past 2 weeks. You are the first one that I have seen to break it down like you did. This was awesome. Going with your break down I have gained more clients and actually sold more at Farmers Markets. So thank you!! Oh, I see you live sell but do you place in bags at Farmers Market or containers Would you be able or be willing to go over how you went by getting Restaurants. Like your method in general. I'm pretty much 60% on the ratio when I bid to a restaurant. (Meaning I get the account 60% of the time) Would love to see your approach.
Great video, I appreciate that it isn't all about the money for you. Your passion for growing them shows. Respect! I will be growing microgreens for my family to consume, and have found your videos very helpful. Thanks for sharing them. Merry Christmas and have great Holiday season.
Great video Justin! I’m not growing any micro greens yet, but I’ve been interested for awhile. You gave great detailed information. I learned a lot from your video!
Thank you, Justin! I've been practicing growing the four crops you discussed and I'm ready to start selling. The timing of this video is perfect. Much appreciated!
Loved how detailed you were about the costs on your end vs. what you get wholesale & at the market Justin! 💚 What do you do during the winter months to get product to the public (w/ No open markets vs restaurants (open year round)? I'm very curious about your winter operations. 😃
Thank you! I've been thinking about starting this as a business in Ann Arbor. I need to go out there and find out about the market before I get started.
hey im just starting with microgreens ive seen a lots of video i think your video is neutral and very real and informative thanks for taking the time to share your experience
@@TheSeedsOfXanxadu if you've time it'll probably be a good idea to make a video if don't already have done one regarding starter kits and itemized list of materials like trays seeds basic setup and suppliers info I think it'll us rookies save time and money by getting the info from someone with experience and the supplies at the rite price from the right sources. Thanks again
Much love for this video, Highly detailed ! I'm curious as to how many trays you sell a week , and how long it took to ramp up once you got started. Thanks. Subscribed
Loving the knowledge, really appreciate this information. Sounds like you said you are in Fontana. I'm all about organic and I'm sure we can definitely link up something
I think nowadays (semi) rural regions are even better to start selling. In the cities the microgreens trend is already there and the frist producers have settled the market.
Quite a few critical expenses just brushed off, “eh, it’s cheap I’m not going to factor that in”. Seed cost and soil cost are the two elementary expenses to factor but telling people everything else is profit is absolutely not true.
Hi, around 6:30 you mentioned compost / I’m guessing it’s the left over plants that didn’t sell; do you use the “compost” to “stretch out the grow mix?
Hey justin thanks for all the great videos you put out man i started growing microgreen about 10 months ago and have made a business out of it now. Im selling sunflower, speakled pea, radish, broccoli, for $6 per 3 oz and my mustard, salad mix from true leaf, arugula, currled cress for $8 per 3 oz and this pricing seems to do really well i think. and im starting to grow cilantro.. what do you charge for your cilantro? And what do you think of what im selling the micros for ?0.0 beacuse im really unsure. and when i charged six dollors for all the varieties i just wasnt making a profit that could support what i was doing it felt.. last thing were do u get your soil again and if theres a organic version ? Thanks !
Right on man! Hey if you can get the price get it! I get my soil from local hydroponic shops. I think there's omri listed version out there although you may have get it online.
what pro mix do you use? I am at the point where I am tired of mixing pealite, pete, and potting mix. I'm ready to spend more for good soil lol....its worth it
It sounds like he uses Premier Pro-Mix. Some of the mixes has an organic mycorrhizal fungi concentrate included. You can also just at that yourself, too. I like Wildroot Organic Mycorrhizal Fungi Concentrate
How do you go about the cautioning that people who are pregnant and those taking blood thinning medication or those with auto immune diseases? Like if you were at selling them at a local farmers market
Hey Justin! Finally followed you from IG! Quick question: Coco coir, perlite or vermiculite, and worm castings, with a small bit if bokashi grains. What are your thoughts of that as grow medium? Just curious
Thank you! I think that’s a grey medium. However not for microgreens. Some will play with some of those elements however. My experience has shown too much organic matter can lead to more trouble than good at times. Mainly during the stacking period.
