  • Lethal Weapon is an all-time classic action film and a pioneer in the buddy-cop genre. But, like all movies, it has sins, and today is the day we decided to count them.
Next week: Christmas sins and bonkers action sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

I think if you look at the lives of most great actors ever you'll find many have asshat qualities lol. My favorite actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is a right prick when it comes to being a father he was an alcoholic who even now at 83 doesn't care to have a relationship with his daughter. He once said how he doesn't know if he has grandchildren(because he hadn't even talked with her for like 20yrs) and said it doesn't really care if he does and that ot doesn't matter. He also said you don't have to love your family and life isn't always good.... basically saying he doesn't really care for his daughter.

I took a precision rifle class last summer where we all were making shots on torso targets at 1000 yards. My friend's fiance went to the range with us the day after the class and she was able to make a 1000 yard shot on the same target. With modern equipment, a typical adult can make that shot with a small amount of training.
Herbert Sleigh made a confirmed sniper kill at 1400 yards in 1918 during WWI.
In 1967, US Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock made a 2500 yard shot with the same sort of training and equipment that Riggs would have had. Hathcock also made multiple shots beyond 1000 yards.

Let's say there's somebody bleeding out on the sidewalk.
The Austinite will call the ambulance & stay with the person until help arrives, chatting with them & doing what they can.
The New Yorker will call the ambulance, but avoid contact with the person. They've got places to be.

A friend was hit by a driver who left the scene, but a dozen people stayed to help him until the ambulance came. I had a best friend get hit by a car while on her bike, and a big group helped her, including the driver, and waited until help came. And I've been ill during my morning commute - once crouched in a corner on a train platform on my way to the office waiting for a wave of nausea to pass by (before I knew I was pregnant) - and more than one person stopped to ask me if I was ok every time!!
NYC may be a tough place if you're healthy and obviously making you way around fully able-bodied. But if you look like you need medical help, people jump in to help crazy fast!

Example, if a black person said black people are overall better at sports than white people, that black person would be biased, but also speaking truth.

Carlos Hathcock (RIP) took his confirmed 2,500 yard shot back in 1967 in Vietnam. Rifles, range finders, ammunition, optics, external ballistics calculations have steadily improved in their accuracy over the decades since. There are groups of civilians and vets who regularly shoot in excess of 1,500 yards. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos, and wish you continued success with them.

He is sinning the man, not the artist. Mel Gibson is a great actor and film-maker but he went on a drunken, bigoted rant saying how he hates Jews. It's a similar problem with Kevin Spacey. Incredibly gifted actor but there are multiple reports of sexual assault and misconduct perpetrated by him.
There is an interesting vid by Lindsay Ellis that talks about the concept of Death of the Author - Where the artwork stands on it's own merits without influence of it's creator and his/her misdeeds. Like can you enjoy the song "I Believe I Can Fly" without feeling like you are condoning R. Kelly's predation against underage girls? Can you commend the brillance of Thomas Jefferson writing The Declaration of Independence while knowing he fathered children on his slaves and let them grow up as slaves? Freaking brutal.
