So according to the alternative history hub channel there is a possibility of the Kingdom of Jerusalem ( can't spell) taking Egypt. Which would have given it they base of support the crusades lacked. There was a force of french knights that almost took over Egypt in I believe it was the time of the third crusade. They lost because they got trapped on a section of the river during flood season. If they had a bit more intel about the flood seasons it is entirely possible they could have taken over Egypt as there was a civil war on at the time and the country was badly weakened by disunity. The time they were stuck on a sand bar was time the local Muslim rulers took to reunify and conciliate there forces. This lead to a French loss. But imagine a Egypt based Kingdom of Jerusalem. It could have easily lasted past the start of the ottoman empire. + The impact on France and the middle east would have been huge.
