Imagine if there was a parallel universe where some of the missing media wasn't missing at all, and the where some of the easily available things like Steamboat Willie were as obscure as much earlier shorts.
I remember years ago, Disney Channel used to have a Vault Disney programming block where they'd show weird and often unseen ephemera like this, stuff that'd been lost to the sands of time until then. It'd be neat of them to bring that back in some point, but the channel is likely not at the point anymore where they'd ever stray away from being trendy.
I remember captain Carlos and I saw it when i was 5 years old and i saw the short where they tell u not to eat any junk food at all. After i saw that i went to get pop tarts and i ate two. I felt like a rebel
They said the advice was sloppy and low quality--and that's probably because they relied on the US government's dietary recommendations, which are based on the same low-fat, high-carb nonsense: eat lots of whole grains and processed seed oils, avoid red meat and other saturated fats, etc. The scientist who originally "proved" that animal fat was bad for us actually threw away over 80 percent of his data because it didn't fit his hypothesis. (His name was Ancel Keys--do a quick web search on him.) But then the federal government got in and endorsed the low-fat diet, and today obesity and diabetes are higher than ever before. Heart disease rates are down, but this is almost entirely attributable to the decrease in smoking rates over time. Meanwhile, a battery of new studies are coming out showing that saturated animal fat doesn't cause heart disease at all, while blaming sugar, refined carbs, and hydrogenated oils instead--the very foods the "experts" told us to eat in order to AVOID heart disease.
I can see some of the other clips being lost due to poor handling, care, and other incidents, including age. But the Disney Channel Idents were only a few years ago...anybody else think its fishy that a shitload of them are already lost?
They're there. They aren't preserved, but they aren't destroyed either. They're basically in the gray area of Disney. Most (if not all) of The Disney Channel and some of their movies are trapped in said gray area. I have a VHS tape from the 80s or 90s back when it was a PPV service, and it is an epic tape. If I had the tech here, I'd upload it in a heartbeat. It has Flight Of The Navigator, The Neverending Story, and The Jungle Book on it, with some cool promos too! There's on-screen promos during the movies (even though they're not interrupted by commercials), bumpers, a preview show of whats coming up on TDC, voiceover promos during the credits, and tons of other cool stuff. Definite gray area material. Other stuff, like official Disney canon movies and some other material, are actually preserved and locked away. This stuff exists, but its exact whereabouts are unknown.
I would think a lot of them are just saved somewhere. Disney just has no real reason to release them all because the demand's not really there, and nobody would have thought to record them when they were on.
I remember Nightmare Ned, it was a great show, and I really wish that it wasn't cancelled. If it would've come along today it definately would've been a hit show
KHLov3r i think so sometimes, but if not they totally should. a lot of third world countries are foreign though and lots of people want the clips in english though, for me personally it doesn’t matter but, i can understand wanting it in its pure original form ! :)
In my country there was a travel TV series that aired for a couple of decades and it was very cherished since the country was closed due to the communism and people couldn't travel. The TV station didn't care about the footage and was using the tapes to store something else or just dumped them and now everything is lost and the traveller who produced the show has died recently. His lifetime commitment in exploring the whole world in order to show it to people who cannot leave their country will never be seen again.
I remember the Phineas and Ferb episode! I remember that we DID RECORD IT, but when we moved I think we lost it. Even if we didn't, our DVR was sadly wiped around Christmas two or three years ago...
Actually there was no movie. It was just a book George Lucas wrote. He intended for it to become a sequel to the movie, but the studio he worked with wanted to have changes, mainly because Han Solo (who was originally just a one-off character) was popular
@@ripexthecrocogator4137 I agree. People thought that it was not important because it didn't contain any offensive things since it is Phineas and Ferb and they thought that they will record again but it didn't.
Most of the TV stuff from the 1970s onwards likely still exists, because the Library of Congress records all broadcasts on television and has been doing so for over 40 years.
destroyernoah Thanks,And I always click return on this phone, I guess I'm used to it, I never noticed until now it looks like a haiku. But thanks =D Also have a merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate =)
FebruarySnow AJ I remember the Disney Channel wand bumpers, and it is still popped up on UA-cam, along with some parodies of the Disney Channel wand idents, including a GoAnimate character doing a spoof of the Disney Channel wand. This was the idents that I don't watch it anymore.
"Sing Me a Story with Belle"... I feel like I remember that show vaguely... And yet I don't remember "Schnookums and Meat" at all. How bizarre... There's a Creepypasta in the making there.
Honestly, given the stories I've heard about how tight-laced Disney was concerning romance, sex, or any other risque materials happening in his studios or especially in his actual cartoons, the least believable part of that story is the idea that his employees would EVER think it'd be a good joke to show him and openly admit to creating. His reaction is 100% believable though.
I remembered when I was like 5 or 6, there was this Disney Short about a cat who was a chef teaching how to make recipes with a dog who was disturbing him while the cat was busy. I kinda don't remember it much but I know it is in my memory
For that matter I'm also looking for an old nickelodeon show. Its way younger than this one. I believe it played during the 80s or 90s. It was played by real people and wasn't animated. Can't remember the title, but I know it was about a girl that gained super powers by being covered in radioactive waste that spilled from an evil company's truck. The girl became a super hero of sorts while hiding her identity from the evil company that was looking for her. She lived in a normal family with an older sister. I believe one of her powers was turning to a goo/water like substance. This power was unstable at first and she controlled it by counting down or something so she didn't transform in public.
Jim Cummings played Big Book, Christine Cavanaugh (Rugrats, Dexter's Laboratory) also played Carroll the Bookworm, and Kirsten Storms had a regular role on the show before starring in her own DCOM as "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century", and the actress who played Belle, Lynsey McLeod, did anime voice roles for Animax, including 2001's "Cowboy Bebop, the Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door", and as Yuki in the English dub of "Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran".
Andrew Schmitt I hated TS since it was Disney's SADDEST excuse for a Powerpuff Girls ripoff with poor acting, and the 60's Batman styled campiness being turned up to eleven. Also, Spencer Breslin...
i remember that! and right after it changed to Nick Jr. (I think) there were ads between shows with two characters named Moose and Bird and they would sing songs, one of them was about animals or furry friends or something and it gets stuck in my head sometimes
for those of you wondering, the footage playing during the ‘lafflets’ segment is from a 1929 silly symphony titled “the skeleton dance”. these silly symphonies were a brand of disney short films primarily from 1929-1939, including titles you’ve probably seen such as “funny little bunnies”, “flowers and trees”, numerous “three little pigs” shorts, and “the cookie carnival”. they’re all beautiful, and were a huge part of my early childhood. i’m not sure how many you can find on youtube, and in decent quality, but i have an entire library of them that i will probably upload eventually. they’re a great piece of animation history i recommend you guys check out. :)
I remember seeing Adventures in Nutrition with Captain Carlos when I was little. Specifically the episode where that clip you used in the video came from. Alas, I don't remember the title of the episode.
For Mickey's (Late) 95th Birthday, here's the lost media status. Nightmare Ned: Found Sing me a story with Belle: Partially Found Shnookums & Meat: Found Lafflets: Lost Mickey & Minnie Sex Tape: Lost Dream Finders: Unproduced Toon News: Partially Found Coyote Tails: Found The All New Mickey Mouse Club: Partially Found Captain Carlos: Found Teamo Supremo: Partially Lost Phineas & Ferb Spot the Diff: Found Oswald the Lucky Rabbit "Poor Papa": Found Uncle Walt: Lost Walt Disney "Wand" Intros: Partially Found
I don't remember Captain Carlos. Still, I remember another show about nutrition. I don't remember the name at the moment, but the main character was a sandwich, and he would help out people. He was a superhero, and I remember an episode about a cotton candy lady, which was the villain. That's all.
paul fairweather I know my grandma always use to record Phineas and ferb for me and my older brother to watch at her house but as we got older we became more busy with other things such as honors classes in high school and she just stored them away on DVD s because she had one of those cable boxes that you can record shows on DVD so im going to look for but when I find the spot the difference episode and I know they're on their because we watched all three on those DVD s I will release them on UA-cam or dailymotion
I played Toontown religiously as a child and I was obviously devastated when they discontinued it. It still lives on through UA-cam and fans remaking the game as an offline entity.
I remember adventures in nutrition with Captain Carlos, I was 7 at the time, if I had known about the media being lost I would have documented it in some way. Obviously I was too young then to understand. I don’t think I ever got any home media releases of the show though, which is unfortunate.
How was your day in the big blue house? I built tutter a- how was your day in the big blue house? We had to turn it- HOW WAS YOUR DAY IN THE BIG BLUE HOUSE?
I wish the Mickey Mouse Club would release the whole entire series on dvd; they only have clips of skits and also only of Britney, Christina and Justin. I'd LOVE to see the entire thing!
I never watched the show Nightmare Ned, yet I can't help but shake the feeling that I know the name "Ned Needlmire." I know for a fact that I never watched that show, or even heart of it until I watched this. So... why does the name sound so familiar...?
I think it's just a really appealing-sounding name, like it flows so well that it feels familiar. It stood out to me in this video too, but I've def never seen or heard of that show.
101 Dalmatians: The Series, while it did have a good long 65 episode run in 1997, it was overshadowed by Recess and Pepper Ann at the time. After its cancellation, reruns aired on Toon Disney until 2006. In 2012, Disney Jr. briefly showed edited versions of only half of the episodes. Finding copies of any episodes online is pretty scarce, and it's unlikely the show will air again, especially the episode that was banned after 9/11.
powerpup97 I recorded lots of 1 saturday morning cartoons back in the day I'll upload some 101 Dalmatian cartoons once I look through my attic for the tapes
powerpup97 funny that you mention it. A friend and I were talking about Disney's One Saturday Morning recently. we named Recess and Pepper Ann, but couldn't remember 101 Dalmatians.
My grandfather and great grandfather told me about Laflets and they said it was funny and entertaining. Apparently my great grandfather had one or two episodes that he could play on his projector.
Hearing the wand bumper commercials being mostly lost kind of hurt me. It's sad seeing something I can remember so vividly while being at my Papa's and Grandma's house in my younger days being lost to time
When you mentioned Disney's "titanic output," I thought you said "satanic output" at first, which is funny given all the conspiracy theories about Disney putting satanic messages and/or dirty subliminal images in their cartoons. I remember Sing Me a Story and Teamo Supremo from when I was younger, and I kind of liked them, though I wasn't a huge fan. I also have older relatives who have told me about The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and I've even watched the opening here on YT. There are three more lost Disney cartoons you didn't mention but that I would love it if someone found. One is a series of shorts that aired on Disney Channel when I was little featuring a group of foxes. It had an opening theme that went something like, "Sun and the moon and the wind and the rain and the sun" over and over again. Another is "From All of Us to All of You," a Christmas special hosted by Jiminy Cricket which aired on one of the Disney TV anthology shows back in the 50s. It was released as "Jiminy Cricket's Christmas" on VHS and Beta some time in the 80s, but hasn't seen any home video release on any format since then. It's become massively popular in Scandinavia and you can even watch an English version here on YT, but it's incomplete, either due to technical issues, copyright blocking, or both. The last one is an authentic, original Technicolor dye transfer print of every Disney animated feature from Snow White to the initial end of Technicolor's dye transfer processing and printing in the States during the 70s (though if any IB Tech prints from the reintroduction of it in the late 90s were made, I'd love to see some of those too.) Steve Hoffman said once on his discussion forum website that Disney threw away all their IB prints some time during the early 90s, though it seems that there are a fair number of them out there for a few features and/or shorts, some of which have even been put online. If anyone can find any of the films that are yet missing somewhere (and I'm sure there has to be some yet out there), that would be almost like something out of Indiana Jones--those really are hidden treasure.
@HotWax93 I remember the first one! It was called "Pablo the little red fox". There are several episodes on UA-cam. It aired on CBeebies here in the UK. Disney themselves weren't involved in the production of Pablo, but according to Wikipedia, it aired on Disney Channel, so that's probably where you saw it.
@@l.r9443 Yeah, that's where I saw it, and that's probably why I mistakenly thought it was a Disney cartoon. I know not everything that aired on Disney Channel in those days was from Disney, but most of it was. I'll go check that out and see if that's the cartoon I remember.
@@l.r9443 OK, I found the opening theme, and it's definitely the show I remember, though I didn't quite remember the lyrics of the theme song right. Thank you so much!
@@harukoharuhara1863 Yeah, and the book is even creepier. But that cat is what I think of whenever I hear the word "harmony" now, so it certainly left a mark on me.
I missed Toon Disney. They showed all of the classic Disney shows on there. I don't know why they took it away and replaced it with Disney XD. couldn't they have just kept Toon Disney and created another channel for Disney XD?
Victoria Bellamy It's all about money. Disney may have a ton of it, but as a corporation they need to keep making it obviously. Reruns weren't bringing in enough cash.
littlesongbird1 I used to loved that show. This lasted about 26 episodes by 1994, about 5 years later, the cast from the show returned for a feature length film which was a direct-to-video release of "Belle's Tales of Friendship" in 1999, and it was only on VHS, but I still have it in my collection. The two episodes from the show exists on "Belle's Magical World" DVD in the late 2000's, but the complete series was never made it onto DVD, but it is rarely available for tape trading circuit.
when i was a child my mom had a recording of the black n white skeleton dance. it aslo had a disney movie call "foot loose and fancy free" and a few chip and dale cartoons i dont recall ever seen on tv. one when chip and dale share the same date. of corse this was 36 years ago.
Aw, I feel like I would've liked Nightmare Ned. Great video Jorge! The music in the background kind of sounds like Light's theme from the Death Note OST.
You guys could do a Reality TV Show lost media. Bachelorette's in Alaska, Cupid, Race to the Altar, The Will, Road Rules Maximum Velocity Tour, and many others. I would be tuned to that 100%!

Actually, while you are right about the Sing Me A Story series, there are actually two videotapes Disney released with two episodes each, in addition to Belle's Tales Of Friendship. Also, Captain Carlos debuted with "Breakfast With Bear" in 2004 or 2005. Awesome video though!
I still remember the Schnocums and meat show particularly an episode where the cat pretends to die and come back as a ghost/zombie, in the end it causes Meat to die and ends up with a shot of his feet slowly walking towards the house saying "I'm coming for you" while the cat freaks out
Holy crap I have a feint memory of seeming Teamo Supremo on TV. My dad was channel surfing and decided to let us watch some cartoons ( which we normally didn't get to do if it wasn't educational because my mom was very strict about letting us watch things with vulgar humor and violence ). I vividly remember seeing Captain Crandall when my mom came in and yelled something like "what is this?!" "What are you letting them watch?!" And proceeded to change the channel. I didn't really get to watch any cartoons that weren't educational until I was in like 5th grade. I think my mom was afraid of us seeing things like The Simpsons, family guy, or South Park because she was just cautious with animation in general and was disgusted the first time she caught me watching spongebob. We also only had basic cable for most of my childhood with just under 23 channels so my cartoons were mostly limited stuff in PBS Kids, whatever we could rent from our local video store, and occasionally abc and Kids WB.
You forgot to throw in some honorable mentions: 1. "The Mouse Factory" (1972-73) - a syndicated half hour series hosted by celebrities talking about stuff in cartoons. I have not seen the show in years. 2. "The New Mickey Mouse Club (1977)" - a syndicated short lived TV series featuring the Mouseketeers, one of the other member who went on to star in a TV sitcom "The Facts of Life". The show was okay, but it lasted just one season. 3. "Suicide Mouse" - I don't have much to say, it was a very scary cartoon with Mickey Mouse walking around and ends up getting nightmares. The video is all over UA-cam. 4. "Ewoks" - A short-lived animated series based off the characters from "Return of the Jedi". That series ran for just one season. 5. "Droids" - Another short-lived animated series based off of "Star Wars" also lasted one season. 6. "Star Wars Holiday Special" - A TV special as it was aired only once on CBS back in November 1978, and it was possibly the worst holiday special ever made, but thankfully, a long lost TV special made its way online. 7. "Fraggle Rock", a TV series aired on HBO back in the early 1980's created by Jim Henson of the Muppets. The series is hard to find.
Well, to be honest here, #'s 4-7 were obviously only left out due to their preceding Disney's ownership of Lucasfilm :Ltd & Henson.:) I remember enjoying the The Mouse Factory. Lisa Welchel's the MMC '70s member to go on Facts and of course she was the leader...
My grandparents had so many VHS tapes, being that I had really young aunts and uncles plus me when I was born in 97, we have a whole section of them in the library part of the office. I still have the Christmas Beauty and the Beast VHS with the Sing Me A Story WIth Belle trailer on it. How interesting it is to have seen an obscure piece of media before knowing it was even obscure.

Definite gray area material. Other stuff, like official Disney canon movies and some other material, are actually preserved and locked away. This stuff exists, but its exact whereabouts are unknown.
Shane, you could probably find someone who would buy that tape for quite a bit of money, if you're willing to give it up.
To be quite honest, I don't think the wand idents are lost. With Disney being such a big company, it's very hard to believe that they're all lost.
Spectrum Storms yeah, I agree, Everything lost is eventually found, it's just locked up somewhere hence the term *"lost and found"*
I would think a lot of them are just saved somewhere. Disney just has no real reason to release them all because the demand's not really there, and nobody would have thought to record them when they were on.
I remember Nightmare Ned, it was a great show, and I really wish that it wasn't cancelled. If it would've come along today it definately would've been a hit show
Yeah, I really wish they gave it a chance, it honestly felt like they just let the show rot.
as a gen z kid, i loove old cartoon shows, and i had a lot of anxiety, i want this show because its awesome and it represented me
It was basicsly like Invader Zim both were great shows treated like garbage
And Disney’s gargoyles, a lot of stuff just came too soon I think

Poor Papa has been found! But there's a ton of other Oswald shorts that are still missing, such as "The Banker's Daughter"
Poor papa is actually famous
Im going to watch that now
Nightmare Ned seems very creative, shame it wasn't given much of a chance.
Luis Villegas Yeah I'd watch it
TheLegend27 - Hurler of Boulders same
It seems very similar to Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Jackson DeStefano yeah but Courage is still pretty creative.
Luis Villegas I'm not saying it isnt. It's just what came to mind when he talked about the show.
i wonder if these people looking for lost media considered looking into poor countries that show like old outdated stuff on tv lol
Agreed. A lot of tv stations around the world hold archives of their aired material.
I remember some local argentinian tv stations airing some old and creepy PBS and BBC cartoons all the time.
Its the best place to look. BBC did it once.
I remember seeing Carlos on the television, damn kid didn't stop me from eating that caramel candy.
29Evilbunny I would strap carlos down, and force feed him cupcakes.

Nightmare Ned is like the Invaider Zim of Disney
Right down to the fact that Nick & Disney treat those shows like they severely contradict their audience.
It was ahead of it's time now darker kids shows have a lot of success
Before Invader* Zim was even invented
It sounds like it's was awesome.

Fun Fact : Before Dinsey bought the rights for Star Wars there was a lost Star Wars movie called "Splinter of the minds eye".
Actually there was no movie. It was just a book George Lucas wrote. He intended for it to become a sequel to the movie, but the studio he worked with wanted to have changes, mainly because Han Solo (who was originally just a one-off character) was popular
It was an alternate sequel if star wars failed

I can't believe there is any Phineas and Ferb material that wasn't recorded! That was so recent!
Madeline McAdams especially since they play retuns now on Disney XD
It's the most recent thing on this list. I think it's because nobody thought it was important or worth preserving or ever thought it would go lost.
@@ripexthecrocogator4137 I agree. People thought that it was not important because it didn't contain any offensive things since it is Phineas and Ferb and they thought that they will record again but it didn't.
It's been found: archive.org/details/AllPhineasAndFerbSpotTheDiffEpisodesENGLISHQabQ
I mean, it's not really that important is it? It's not like they're missing episodes or they had new songs or something
Most of the TV stuff from the 1970s onwards likely still exists, because the Library of Congress records all broadcasts on television and has been doing so for over 40 years.
There's also the Paley Center which archives TV shows.
But that isn’t public probably to avoid complaints from the media companies

Jorge, these lost media videos are stunning. I love how the Strizan Effect can make people want something to be found.
Keep on the good work!

It was called The Secret World of Alex Mack, starring Larissa Olenek. It first aired in 1995, I believe.
Everyone knows that some of us get that creepy vibe when watching lost media videos like this.
Odd, I only got that vibe looking at that godawful cat in the sing me a story with Belle segment

That "Teamo Supremo" show makes "The Nutshack" look like "Miraculous Ladybug."
Andrew Schmitt the nutshack worse

for those of you wondering, the footage playing during the ‘lafflets’ segment is from a 1929 silly symphony titled “the skeleton dance”. these silly symphonies were a brand of disney short films primarily from 1929-1939, including titles you’ve probably seen such as “funny little bunnies”, “flowers and trees”, numerous “three little pigs” shorts, and “the cookie carnival”. they’re all beautiful, and were a huge part of my early childhood. i’m not sure how many you can find on youtube, and in decent quality, but i have an entire library of them that i will probably upload eventually. they’re a great piece of animation history i recommend you guys check out. :)

The cat in that Belle show is creepy
@@l.r9443 Yeah, that's where I saw it, and that's probably why I mistakenly thought it was a Disney cartoon. I know not everything that aired on Disney Channel in those days was from Disney, but most of it was. I'll go check that out and see if that's the cartoon I remember.

I missed Toon Disney. They showed all of the classic Disney shows on there. I don't know why they took it away and replaced it with Disney XD. couldn't they have just kept Toon Disney and created another channel for Disney XD?
i know! disney XD is just those annoying overused laughtrack shows. the only one i really like is walk the prank, or is that on disney channel?
Kittenwolfie lab rats and kings sitcome(i forgot it's name) some of it's cartoons are only good thing about it.
Victoria Bellamy It's all about money. Disney may have a ton of it, but as a corporation they need to keep making it obviously. Reruns weren't bringing in enough cash.
I remember sing me a story with belle! I had 3 episodes of it on VHS!
Me too..it was a cute show. I was a little too old for it when it aired but I secretly used to watch it.
littlesongbird1 I used to loved that show.

Also, Captain Carlos debuted with "Breakfast With Bear" in 2004 or 2005.

SnoopBirdd lol my favorite show was futurama. Funny how flipped our childhoods were.
Love the Death Note theme in the background.
This sounds different from the death note theme ive heard. It sounds similar but different. Do you know which song this is
@@DarkTheAuthor I think it is specifically “L’s Theme”.
@@MsBlackestHeartive seen ls theme but theres less instruments in it. Its like this version that jorge used is a remix
You forgot to throw in some honorable mentions:
Musicradio77 Television Network Sucide mouse isn't real it's a creepy pasta
Well, to be honest here, #'s 4-7 were obviously only left out due to their preceding Disney's ownership of Lucasfilm :Ltd & Henson.:) I remember enjoying the The Mouse Factory. Lisa Welchel's the MMC '70s member to go on Facts and of course she was the leader...
Steve Carras Oh I actually have a recording of that ewoks thing

Steve Carras Just read it again and I realized that it was an animated series not live action 😜
