Not gonna lie, I nerded out over the science on this. Always wondered how those Oil Analysis's work. For a bit, I was concerned that Blackstone missed the mark, but the fact that Valvoline had a similar lack of concern on the pre-apocalypse sample restored my faith in Blackstone. That said, makes me wonder where the extra iron came from in that short amount of time.
Most likely cylinder wall scoring/wear from some debris that made it through the intercooler. Once you have debris stuck in the piston rings it's pretty much game over
When I heard your 9:20 you never gonna get rid of this car, finally couldn’t take it, I cried hard. I share a similar feeling like yours to my Miata. Three months ago layoff hit me. And I might not be able to keep my car with me. Chance is high, and I might depart the states shortly. It’s a mixed feeling of sadness and jealousy(to you lol). Now the plan is to store my car in a storage for indefinitely amount of time. Whenever I miss it, I will fly back, hop in and drive it.
The evo 9 will forever be my dream car. I started following this channel because of it. I eventually got my hands on one, exact trim and color as Ben’s. Can’t wait for what’s more evo content, even if I’ll take a little bit of time.

I just went through exactly the same scenario. My engine I spent all my blood sweat and tears on, decided this year to have low oil pressure and created a lot of wear and glitter. I hung it up for this year and will pull the engine to rebuild it this next winter. Going to devote my time to other things. Some times you have got to step away
I know how you feel Ben. I spent 6+years building my dream car. Working on the finishing details is unrewarding at this point because I'm ready to move on to my other 3 vehicles and make them all equally nice.

Whenever there is a turbo failure engine bearing failure: oil cooler, hoses, pump passages need to be replaced or disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Oil coolers can trap particles and it's best to just replace them then try to save some money and damage new parts. That old Evo 9 turbo probably needs to be rebuilt and probably was holding some residual metal particles. IMO all those other cars are not even close to an Evo not interested in any of them. Good luck!

No issues with this at all. I love the Evo content, especially being an Evo owner myself for a pretty long time (from down unda). It's cool to see other platforms get used and modified also. I do hope that the Evo has nothing seriously wrong with it and gets back to fighting form easily when the time is ready.
Oops. Time for either a full rebuild or a new block. Maybe this is a wake-up call. Maybe you should build one of your other cars into your track weapon of choice and revert the Evo back to a more street friendly trim. It's all well and good having a dedicated race car, but maybe a new platform might be the way forward. If it were me, I'd make the Evo more street friendly and drive it more frequently, rather than only at the race track. I probably wouldn’t choose that particular S2K to develop though; it’s had a hard enough life.
Cars with rough lives make the next track cars. That's why the MR2 is such a good track car. The Evo by contrast, had a great life. Then when it went full track car it started blowing motors and turbos left and right. I agree that the Evo probably would be better as a street car at this point. I mean it already won gridlife. So making the s2k his new full on gridlife car would probably be a better idea.

As someone who spent a long time designing turbos for OEM applications the concept of plastic cages on the ball bearings of a turbocharger horrifies me. I would literally never recommend any turbocharger that uses that bearing cartridge....
Excited for S2000 content especially. Those ITB VTEC noises will be heavenly... Would love some mountain road sound videos like you did with the rx-7 build.

Sold my mK3 Supra project build. Best decision I ever made. As soon as they gave me the cash I felt a release of stress leave my body. I was so wrapped up on that car that all day every day I would be driving or on a ladder from work just stressing and thinking about that car and what could be wrong and what I had to do.
