Was in the 2nd row center for Dark Magus concert at Carnegie Hall..first Azar Lawrence New to the band, which didn't last and then this cat who nobody really knew who he was...a real shame what happened to him and so many others at such an early age...Cosey,Reggae and this cat on stage at the same time?!?!?! No matter what u hear on Dark Magus, multiply it by 100% being there that nite. I don't care what any " critics"write about that nite,it was one of the greatest Miles electric band gigs ever..if not the best... Thanks

Wow, I used to listen to these guys a lot when I was a teenager, and almost "10 years after" (😉) here I am again after almost forgetting about Pete cosey and Dominique gaumont. I only can imagine how pervasive and suffusing the live sound might've been. Miles Davis forever Brother.

I couldn't agree more. Dark Magus was Earth shattering for me. I first heard it by accident, I was taping a live broadcast of Jimi Hendrix LA Forum, with levels in the red and the DJ went right into Moja at the conclusion. Blew me away. I also agree that Azar seemed unprepared for the type of high energy improvisation they were doing. He seems to freeze up until Dave scrambles his eggs. A little better afterwards. I also saw Miles front row center at Lincoln Center 1990. Anything else you can share about the 74 show I'd love to hear.

Can’t teach feeling. Miles felt and saw the potential. The Rhythm Band presented Dom with all the challenges he could handle.Miles trusted him with a lead in “ He Loved Him Madly” and Duke applauded his is use as a major voice❤

Oh yeah, nice funky jams. I was saddened to just learn that Dominique died of an OD in 1983. He was only 30. God damn it!

This NEEDS an official release. There's nothing quite like this in Miles' studio catalog. It's a phenomenal recording that I listen to in full at least once a week. Great for working out, driving, writing . . . whatever. Funky and sharp as a switchblade.

Cannot agree enough. Miles only has a few songs that rock this hard with so much funk to back it (all of which I love), and this one beats all of them to a pulp and three-quarters!

This side of Pete Cosey, Eddie Hazel, Sonny Sharrock, Larry Coryell, & perhaps a few others, yes, Dominique was quite the guitarists' guitarist. Pete even is quoted as to how much he enjoyed performing with him.

Sounds like one guy only, Dominique. Pete was a Journeyman, of many styles. Not saying it doesn't sound good. Reggie's there, holding it down.
