Hello, nice video, I inherited a lovely barometer, which must be at least 60 years old. I read that the old crystals may need replacing. Do you have any advice on this issue?
I am going to be doing some offshore, Coastal and Blue Water Sailing sometime in the near to late future no set time!! What is the best set or series of Barometer and weather instruments that you would recommend???
today i acquired an absolutely lovely find in a second hand store. it's actual name is Baromaster made in France. it has 3 glass faces on it. one big barometer, and 2 smaller faces; a temp gage, and i do not know what the other face is. the third face has the numbers 20 through to 100, with a darkened line area that has the needle reading Normal. it also has a little % sign. all mounted in wood with a cathedral shaped top to it, and a little finial in the top. i'm still not sure where to put it. right now the air pressure here, in montreal, says 29.7 inHG. i don't know what that means. so i moved the needle to 29.7. will this ever change?
Thanks for getting back to me again
Many thanks, that answered all my enquiries 👍
Glad to help!

You might be thinking of a storm glass. There is no way to replace the crystals in those as it is part of a solution.
Is it best to have the barometer indoors or outdoors
Indoors, no need to put them outside. Air pressure is the same.

Weems & Plath make some great weather resistant instruments which would be best for marine environments.

The third gauge is a hygrometer which mesures air humidity
I have a digital clock who have barometric sensor inside, I still don't know is it working accurately or not?
try comparing your clock's readings with a local pressure reading, a weather website should give you your pressure reading by entering your zip code
