Gypsy Rhapsody, Gridin: Sevastian 2012

Alexander Sevastian performs Viktor Gridin's Gypsy Rhapsody with the Toronto Mandolin Orchestra under artistic director/conductor, Alexander Veprinsky, at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto on November 2012. Gridin has written many exciting bravura folk style pieces for the bayan, and he himself is a virtuoso on the 6 row bayan.

Yes, it was a scary moment for me. Actually, it happened for the 1st time with this wonderful Jupiter. Otherwise, I am really happy with this instrument.

When played this well you have to take the accordion seriously. Sadly, Alexander died way too young.

It must be a sad loss for not only his family, but for Toronto and Canada. What a virtuoso musician he was. I could have had hours of conversations with him even though I never met him. Paul from London, England.

No. New Extreme has bigger, better reeds, less weight, the best mechanics on the world, but a Barinov sounds better. It's my opinion. BUT if you buy a new Scandalli Extreme, you will be satisfied.

Александр ,все по записи понятно!Оркестр не соответствует уровню исполнителя,не дают темповую свободу.Но в общем все равно очень интересно было послушать этот вариант! Молодцы!

Thanks for posting this one Heinz. Aleksander is a really gifted young musician. However I was really disappointed when you posted the horrible Roland files. Sorry, but I love the Jupiter bayans too much to sacrifice them to an electronic toy. Back to the music. Gridin did indeed write some really lovely arrangements of old Russian folk songs. He was a great bayanist himself. What a great culture. I'd like to know if the young Aleksander has actually moved to Canada? Keep posting the lovelies. All the best.

Mechanics - not sure. But the sound... NOTHING can compete in sound against a Barinov Jupiter. Nothing.
