- By far one of my favorite knifes so far! The birch bark handle is not only comfortable but also pretty easy to make.
Thanks for watching!

Ever since I first learned of the puukko I have LOVED that style of handle construction. A simple concept that ends up functional and pretty.
That was absolutely awesome. For a young man you are an amazing blacksmith and craftsman. Not only did you do a great job on the blade itself but I was blown away by the way you made the handle. I haven't seen anyone do a stacked handle in a long time and you nailed it perfectly. Anyone would be proud to own that blade including myself. Great job
Love that handle. Very well done.
I have seen how the Finnish make birch bark handles for their knives and they don't use glue. Instead they have the tang pointed like a spike and stab the sheets of birch bark onto the tang of knife, then they pound the bark down using a wooden block or rod that is hallow in the middle to compress them together. They would do this several times in till the desired length is achieved
yeah, but it probably is easier that way.
Anthony Trinh , probably , one of the easiest ways is boiling up already compressed handle - birch tar will glue everything instead of you)
The method is older than glue.
Ioannes Eroi yep)
That handle has a really nice look to it. Brilliant as always.
i know that i always comment about your creativity being through the roof, but this one is a step above, the handle and blade are both beautiful.
Thank brother!
I LOVE this knife, it's simplistic yet pretty! One thing that I see LOTS of people do that i don't understand is that they don't put a relief right before the hilt. It leads to a sloping edge after a few years of sharpening.
I love the handle! I never thought of Birch Bark before.
I can watch this all day. Simply amazing!
I love your move towards most artistic and creative knives. I would still like to watch your remaking videos and practice new skills :)
FINALLY!!! Someone who normalizes their blade. I have no doubt that a lot of folks do it off camera but I always get worried when I don’t see it.
I like the Finnish you put on this knife, well done!
Wow. Outstanding and amazing eye for detail. 10 out of 10. Brilliant
Wow, I have seen a lot of knives made, but never seen anyone use birch bark as a handle! That's really cool. I have tons of birch around here, now I have some plans!
I think this is my favorite piece you made! Good job
Mine too. Thank you!
Puukko Knives are the most beautiful knives.
Puukko means a knife

Love that you made the handle the traditional way... So awesome.
That is a beautiful Finnish knife. I love the use of the cold chisel! Your technique is impressive and the knife looks like a real champ! Thanks for the fun video!
Pretty good. Didn't know that the bark could be used in this way. Excellent ... >:3
birch bark Is used for many things. It's very rich in natural oils and tar, so even though it's totally dried it's still very flexible.
maybe it was also used because in finlnd it goes from warm to very cold and that can take a toll on solid wooden handles and might make them crack?
Birch bark has historically been used for starting fires and sealing canoes by the native Americans. Tree bark in general has been used by ancient tribes as tree bark tents as homes.
Finns also used to make shoes, backbags, purses, and sheaths out of Birch bark
The imperial Inquisition The stuff can be worked like leather, from what I've seen since this video. So, perhaps not so surprising.
Great work, looks really good ,thanks for posting 👍
That handle is just...amazing. Such wonderful work!!
Damn...gotta admit at first I was a little skeptical but you proved me wrong! What a work of art man! Much respect! I really want to learn how to make my own knife.
I love the handle, bigger than I've expected but wow looks so awesome !
It's pretty long yeah, but it really makes a difference when handling it. Thanks mate!

Gotta love that the sudoku on the paper was completed. Never cared much for sudoku though. Always was a crossword man myself.
Beautiful! It's like one of those satisfying videos but better.
very kool, really awesome handle.
I had no idea you could use the bark from a tree for a handle thank you for teaching me something new about the craft

Again, WOW! I love the things you make, and the videos of you creating them. One thing I'd like you to add to your videos, is the time/days it took you to make each of these items.
Endelig en sand håndværker. Jeg er selv knivmager og dit indehold er fantastisk!👍
Отличная работа! Пусть нож служит долго!
Nice, I love birch bark handles!!
So do I!
Love how you progressively speed up the video so the hammer strikes end up sounding like someone playing scales. Never seen that before. 👍👍
Really great job my man. I was like “that handled never going to work” I was way wrong.
It came out really good...👍
That's a really pretty knife
love the method behind the handle :)
The knife is nice, specialy the handle I like alot. Hopefully you will share haw you make a traditional knife sheath for this beauty. Thanks and more of that.
very, very nice work !

Another Beautiful blade!! keep up the amazing vids man. :D

I love the way you edit your sound
Wow! It's wonderful!
Fine work. Well done.
:=)
Turned out superb👍👍
Not only Wood Thanks brother!
Тиски ещё советские-"Ленинград "! Молодец!
awesome stuff, really like your work. But why do you not heatshrink the crossguartds onto the tangs? I mean it would hold much better then glue and you just have to make a slightly smaller extrusion (2-10 micrometer)
Fantastic video of the whole process start to finish, expertly edited to not lose interest but also show how much work goes into the process. The birch bark handle is something I've never seen before, it is beautiful but how does it hold up compared to leather/wood/G10/Micarta?
You are an artiste 😃😃
Really love this knife!
Nice Work, that's a beautiful knife!
Ever thought about adding subtiles like other silent creators, for instance Primitive Technology, do? I think it would be very interesting to have the option of reading what exactly you're doing and what your thought process was/is.
Cheers! :)
I haven't thought of adding subtitles. It would take a lot of extra time to do, but will think about it. Thanks mate!

Awesome Work
Super cool. What kind of epoxy did you use for the handle? A longer setting, tougher epoxy I’d think would be better. I’d also slather the the bark in it to toughen it up for the handle when stacking them. I would be worried about some of those discs cracking and coming loose with too weak an epoxy or too little used.
I used long setting epoxy. I did put epoxy on the bark.
Très très beau ! Bravo!
I want to try this my self but I have 3 questions. 1. What kind of stock metal did you use? 2. I saw you tempered it for 2 hours in your oven but at what °C? 3. Any tipps on collecting the birch bark? Do I have to let it dry for a few weeks first? Thank you so much for all the videos of your work I really apreciate it! You are great!
Marvelous craftsmanship 👍
great job, I think it came out awesome!
Very nice. I love it.
I think the handles like that used to be made separately, so it's not stuck to the blade, as often a good puukko can outlast a few handles.
Nice knife👍
Nice video! This sharpening stone - what is its grit number to cut paper so easily?
Legend has it that the handle grew by itself.
P.S.-nice job! You just gained another sub!
Alto video capo me re encanto saludos desde argentina
ohh that was beautiful.
Well done. Perfect knife. Thanks. i like it bravo.
Woooow thats an amazing job...I wanna ask you cause is it possible that you make such a blade for me...blade only please. I am a german sheathmaker hobbyist and I can build the handle and the sheath myself but i have no forge available. I think you puuko is the best i just saw and i would love to have one of your production.
best regards and have a nice day

This is so cool man. WHAT KIND OF STEEL?? I love how easily you get your fire roaring. My fingers won't do that.
