GREGORY HINES transformed tap-dancing into JAZZ

Gregory Hines was an avid improviser of tap steps, tap sounds, and tap rhythms. His improvisation was like that of a drummer, doing a solo and coming up with rhythms. He transformed tap dancing into jazz.

He was amazing. I didn't even know he could dance when I saw him in Running Scared. So when I saw him in White Nights I was a little shocked. I thought they'd taught him for the film.
He was incredibly talented.
