The edits on this video is awesome and hilarious
I mean the teachers tank would be great if the goldfish went into a 75 gallon... the glofish would be ok
I got into aquarium 5 months ago and now I have 7 tanks thanks Chris for this addiction
This comment just made me smile.
so awesome :)
I feel you...
you're really not into it until you have 15 tanks by 6 months though...
I just returned tank #4 after being honest with myself knowing I don’t want to take any more time than I already am lol..3 tanks in 6 months was alot for me to take on
Imagine a fish hobbyist world were getting electrocuted wasn't a threat. 🤷♀
I would take it as a challenge to make a 50% chance of electrocution in that world, just so i am equal to the me in this world
lmao xD
Me: doesn't see myself getting fish nor has money to properly take care of any
Also me: *watches fish tank review anyway cause it's so addictive*
maybe one day!! :)
Nope, I know fish aren't my thing, but these videos are addictive
Every time I see blackwater tanks they are always so amazing. I think I finally need one too...
That black water does look pretty nice
the attraction to blackwater aquarium grows ever closer
They are great, I have one
@@nopenoway8476 That's cool, did you post it somewhere that we can see a picture of it? And what plants do you have in it?
@@nopenoway8476 how do plants do? That’s always been my concern. Chris should make one and show us the process and what works. Would be a good video
i dont have a loach but it definitely gives me a heart attack everytime i dont find my betta anywhere in the tank for a minute just to see her coming out of nowhere for food😭 theyre really good at hiding lmao
My old teacher had a betta in a tiny bowl with blue fake plants. It used to stay near her window and received a lot of direct sunlight. One day I tried to explain basic fish care stuff to her but she didn’t listen. She said that she kept fish for years and that I should have made a better research or something….. the poor fish died some time after
dang :(
One of the classrooms in my school had a betta fish in a .5 gallon bowl with no filter and had neon rocks and neon fake plants in its tank. I tried to tell the teacher in that classroom that the fish would die and the teacher didn’t listen. Sure enough the betta fish died. I know how that feels
Some customers will tell me that they kept their bettas in glass vases with a live plant growing out of the top (or sometimes just fake plants) and say they had it for years. They’re surprised that bettas are better kept in real tanks and that the nitrogen cycle exists
@@Jessicafaye_xo reading that people keep bettas in vases made me angry
As a fish hobbyist, I am so lucky because there is a river in my town. I get my substrate, plants and sometimes fishes also from my local river.
That's awesome
That's pretty awesome. One day I would love to have a giant aquarium with local fish.
that's so lucky!!
Doesn’t that introduce hella disease/parasites?
@@Jessicafaye_xo not everytime
the "stingray loach" is somewhat territorial, but nevertheless loves to be in a group. I have a breeding group of 8 with a large river pebble mound for hideouts, and they are absolutely thriving with tons of babies :)
the fact that your crested gecko sits still on your mic is beyond me, mine is a crazy bastard lmao
My zebra loaches always sleep on their sides and look dead! LOL
such a dick move from them!
Yes, the panda loach (Yaoshania pachychilus), beautiful even tho very expensive (good luck finding them in any fish store) and they loose their "panda like" pattern when fully growned
bought 5 and all died within a month. my heart and pocket felt pain
@@seraphim7416 Yeah, that's really unlucky, but understandable
@@seraphim7416 I had similar luck. Bought 8 and have 1 left. It's fully grown and thriving but my heart cries for the lost 7.
do they just become a regular loach LMAO
I was about to comment this. Got to love how biologists always name vivarium animals with this pattern after those darn bears lol.
You, girl talks fish, aquarium coop and kgtropicals singlehandedly caused my absolute addiction and love for aquariums 4 years ago till now and to continue! thanks.
Panda Loach! They're great because they're tiny little guys who are safe to keep with shrimplets.
To feed mine I crunch up the limpets that stick to the glass. It goes nuts for them.
aw :) that's so cute tho
Hello, you are the first real person who has mentioned limpets. I have something that looks like baby limpets in my tank. Have they caused any problems in your tank or are they just unsightly?
Way to go Kyle!!!! The Amazon puffers got some love 💕 Great tank!!!!
such an awesome tank
@@FishForThought you should ask to see his vampire crab tank. It’s a 10 outta 10! He’s a customer at my shop. Excellent aquascaping/paludarium skills. Very proud of him for his tank being on your channel. I watch your vids religiously with my Monday morning coffee while ordering my fish stock for the week. Was super stoked to see this. Great fishtube channel by the way 🙂
You just know that with the teachers tank, the size upgrade will be viewed as a reason to add more fish.
Such a calming way to start my Monday morning
:) yay
ITS A MUSHROOM CHRIS. In the time I started watching you I went from aquarium student to working at the first coral farm in the world. That tiger lotus looks like A MUSHROOM CORAL
dayum!!!
@@FishForThought humble brag but you should look up some reef tanks my friend
Zoanthids look like little sunflowers
Oh jeez, I really hope that teacher isn't in any of the science branches. But that blackwater tank is gorgeous!!
After working over nights at an old TB facility converted into a state sponsored facility for the "criminally insane," I have to say yes. I believe in the supernatural. Potted plants would fly across the room. Chairs would rearrange themselves while no one was awake. If you had to go outside, most of the staff refused to look up at the windows due to shadowy figures darting about in unoccupied buildings. One night, in a locked office room, the filing cabinets all ended up turned on their sides and some were upside down. The desk in that room had all the drawers wide open until we walked in, in the morning. They slammed closed as we entered the room. I pooped myself and "nope'd" out of the office. Heck, one night, a couple of the clients and myself were watching a movie in the lobby and heard a lot of glass shatter. Went to check it out, a locked cabinet had opened and every single dish was on the ground. The lock, still locked.
@@Pennysfishkeeping we have some strange things happen in our house. Usually nothing too frightening, but every now and then I have to nope out of a room. I refuse to shower with the door closed after seeing a shadow in the shower with me. The bathroom door must be open in case I have to make a quick exit.
agreed
I’m starting my second tank next week and I couldn’t be more excited!
On the topic of hair algae, recently at work I noticed some of the rock in one of the tanks was covered in hair algae. My coworker suggested sticking the rocks in with our Pink Kissing Gouramis. By the end of the shift, the gouramis had all but cleaned off the rock. Watching them nom it all up was a heck of an experience.
QOTW: I mean, at my last job, the cooler door near the loading bay would slam shut all by itself and we could hear and see it from inside the store. It always happened when no one was back there and it made stocking the cooler pretty spoopy. Oh yeah and there was the time the lotto ticket printer started printing tickets by itself and a customer got to witness it... Idk about ghosts, but something funky was happening.
''We got no sympathy for people who got no sympathy for live animals'' this is my favourite now 🙂
Me: "About 2 weeks ago I got my first tank and now I'm addicted... Thanks chris"
got my first fish tank 7 years ago but found your channel 6 months ago and decided to get plants and sand!. no more artifical gravel/decor
2:06 « What is big? The empty space that is in your head? »
Woooohohoooo!!!
xD
Wading ghost tank 🤣🤣🤣 sounds like most of the people in my local aquarium fb group when you mention bettas.
thank you chris, when first setting up and establishing my first ever fish tank, it was very stressful trying to moniter the health of the plants and the quality of substrate etc etc and your videos really helped me to relieve stress. it got me through alot and the videos are also entertaining! the community you build also helped me with that very tank, i cant thank you enough. thank you so much keep it up
I'm kind of on the fence about ghosts. I had some weird encounters when I was little, but it was a very long time ago and I was a dramatic kid :D
over the weekend I watched a sick show on Netflix called The Midnight Club, about a group of terminally ill teenagers coping through their last months on earth. One of their most solemn promises to each other was that when they died, they would try to come back and leave a message for the rest. A little scary and definitely emotional...great show.
i just wanna choose to not believe :)))
to restore some faith in teachers, my friend's mom is a school librarian and teacher and their fish tank at home takes up nearly half a wall. Mostly comprised of tiny fish, a couple snails, plants, and shrimp, it's super cool to look at
Obligatory rule of the bad fish tanks: 20 Goldfish + 10 GloTetras in a 5 to 10 gallon
Qotw: No, but I swear I have a doll that is possessed 😅
Don't forget the gourami they had in there
@@markdoe6118 OH I didn't see that
That tank gets a 5/5 and I am so inspired by it!
@@FishForThought for reals bro!

c'mon man
i have 2 aqariums in my school,i already have 3 tanks,my teacher addicted me to but when i got more into it i watched you, thanks for the addiction chris :)
YAAAY! It's Monday, it's Repashyday, it's Fish For Thoughtday!
yay :))
Just came back from taking two final exams... lovely to be able to take a breather with ftr!!
grats on finishing 2 exams!
@@FishForThought thank you!!
When you're so focused on the episode you forget to open the lid on your tank to feed the fish 😅
QOTW: Yes. Lived in/rented a house where I saw some unexplained stuff. Mom saw a figure laying on her bed that got up and went in the bathroom. Something would stomp around upstairs. Something sat on my bed... Also had a door that would open and slam on its own constantly and called my mom the day I yelled for it to stop and it actually stopped 😭
bruh that place is straight up haunted wtf are u srs :(
Yes every house I lived in had some form of paranormal activity. Be it anything from the sound of someone knocking on a wall with no room on the other side to things getting moved to being touched.
coming home from school to watch fft is the best thing
change my mind
Yep, I believe in the paranormal and have experienced it a few times. Worst was when we went on holiday and I was in a bedroom by myself. I was settling down to sleep when my radio turned itself on (old school device with a sliding switch which had to be physically moved to turn the radio on). After I got up to turn it off, I heard a really nasty, evil laugh right in my ear. I refused to sleep in there after that and slept on the floor of my brothers' room instead!
yikeksssss
@@FishForThought I've had some nice experiences as well though 😊. I used to have a really sweet little boy who looked out for me and he'd pop by every now and again, and I've had a cheeky spirit who liked to steal things and make them turn up somewhere random 😂
Hey Chris, you should take a look at the subreddit r/boraras sometime, the main mod there is very knowledgeable about rasboras and is adamant that chili rasboras and related species, despite being "nano fish", really require at least a 10 gallon or larger. I took it to heart and moved my school of chilis from my 4 gallon cube to my 20 gallon long and they are way more active than I would have expected, they really use the whole footprint of the tank! Just something that came to mind when you suggested chilis or CPDs for the one submitter's planted bowl.
We went away for the weekend so we asked our grandma to feed our betta fish,Jasper. We got home and his food was everywhere,it clogged the filter and the filter was spewing food all in the water,it was so cloudy, like, hundreds of pellets. I still can't believe he was alive when we got home.
Great tips today!
The first teacher doesn't need a bigger tank she needs to get rid of the goldfish
Thank you, Chirs, for making our poopMonday a little more bearable.
The Post Office here the true champs for killing all our plant orders.
Rapashi is looking good.
Just like your fish, you take care of her well.
Good job for being a good pet owner.
I had a dream that my favorite tank, a 15 gallon blackwater beta tank, got ich and I thought it actually happened lol. Just thought I’d share that
I bet after that teacher got the bigger tank. she will either double up on stock or add a few arowana's
yikes.
@@FishForThought wow thanks for the reply, you made my day.
Just an FYI...the plant corner sent in by DaMerkSaucer, you were trying to identify the plants in it . What appear to be large grassy plants in the foreground are not corn plants (Draceana) but are spider plants (Chlorophytum). Spider plants are easy care and non-toxic to pets.
funny you bring up vet school in this video. I actually did go through 4 years of vet school and still spend hours now researching to try and do right by my fish. The best thing vet school taught me is to never be done learning.
Eyyy just woke up, this is the best start to my Monday! Ty Chirs :D
happy monday!
we had a stowaway fish when buying our leapord danios, a singular hovering zebra loach and its by far my favorite fish in my tank, so today we bought 3 more to give him company (thye only had 3 left in the store) they are small and simple but seem to have a lot of personality
Watching FTR every Mindays reminds me that I have a very informative night class of roasting tanks but there are also good ones as well. 👏🥇
I've seen a ghost.
It was at my friend's, gf's family's house. No, nothing untoward was going on! lol
I was in a small downstairs room sleeping on a sofa. Woke up about 4:00am. It was summer so the room was fairly well lit through the window.
Looking across the room I saw a blurry figure sitting where a cabinet was placed. I was a bit hung over, so I shook my head, blinked but it was still there.
Then it started to stand up.
At that time someone had said the room was haunted I wouldn't have been able to sleep in that room. But I just thought it was a trick of the light, hangover and I needed more sleep. So I just rolled over and went back to the land of nod. It's important to note that I never told anyone about the "vision".
About a week later my friend called round and was excited. He had been in that room with his girlfriend, and what he described was very similar to what I saw.
Apparently, he shook his gf, and shouted, "There's a ghost!" then ducked his head under a cushion! Who said the age of chivalry is dead! 🤣
Any way, turned out that a relative had committed suicide in that room, and they identified him from a photo in the family album.
Do I believe in ghosts? My seem odd but the answer is no. There's no way to corroborate whether the apparition was the same, or that what we all saw was a spirit. Going to have to remain strictly objective and scientific about the incidents.
I still crack up when I recall my friend's reaction, so I got a good laugh out of the experience if nothing else lol
lmao im glad i read all the way through xD
I sure do believe in ghosts. Our house is haunted, but the ghosts here are peaceful.
In my school teachers have BUETIFUL FISH TANKS LIVE PLANTS NUTIRENT RICH FOODS ON THE SIDE FR WITH NICE LIGHTING AND GOOD FILTER WATER CLEAN AND FILLED ALL THE WAY 😩😩❤ with ligit 1 fish and a few snails i luv they did the effort ti do things right
That Riener door open shot was epic bro ! 😆
hahha
"seven days.... seven days since my last water change..."
I've actually told my teacher a lot about fish keeping and telling her good ways to research so you can't blame me if she makes a mistake
just got my first discuss today. But unlike others. i gave myeslf time and so id know what to do and now its happy in a fully planted aquarium
v nice!
I personally believe you can put a Betta in a 2.5 to 3 gallon tank IF the water is clean and safe for the fish, and if there is enough plants and hiding places in the tank for the fish to explore. (There also has to be a heater and filter obviously)
And as long as the Betta is happy and healthy I personally don't see anything wrong with keeping them in a tank that size.
I've seen many people (even pro fish keepers) keep Bettas in tanks that size and the Bettas are very happy active, and healthy.
My personal opinion is that as long as the Betta is healthy and happy it can go in a 2g. But if there is any sign that the betta is not happy then I'd immediately upgrade
I am the research to death until my eyeballs fall out person
Here's a wholesome ghost story for you. When I was a kid I once thought I felt the sensation of a cat snuggled alongside me while I slept; I could almost feel the warmth. I felt like I had to stay still and not look so as not to disturb it, but I knew there was no cat physically there. I got the sense that it was a cat who had often slept with me before passing away. He just wanted to keep me company again c:
Don't even have a fish tank but I'm still subbed and watching.
Can’t watch it right now because of school, but I’m commenting to say that I’m excited to watch it!

im so glad my mother never got me a betta fish when i asked for one after watching paul cuffaro for the first time..
i relived that dream though because I now have a cellophane betta fish
yay
Chris, if you think t there is an entity standing behind you.... There's probably an entity standing behind you.
bruh
Such a fun watch thank you
Beautiful fish and Stardew valley music. Is this heaven? 💕
I think the most abused fish are:
-Goldfish
-bettas
-any algae eaters
Ugh "algae eaters" are some of the worst fish to buy. Don't get me wrong, they are absolutely adorable when they're little, it's just that some species are actually more predatory species or meat favoring scavengers, they just can't really do much damage as babies so stick to algae for a bit. Poor guys often outgrow the tank as well and some can get blamed for missing fish even if they didn't actually harm them and just ate the body. More people should definitely get a fish for what it becomes, not what it starts as. I'd honestly get a smaller catfish for a bigger 90gal tank but there's a few stipulations and I haven't found one yet that checks all the boxes since most will grow up to eat smaller fish and I like my minnows ^^'
I’m like pretty certain I live with a ghost of a child or something. The spirit has thrown toys that haven’t moved in months, not moved slightly, thrown. They flew. And my mother decorates and puts a stuffed Angel in the doorway and every time I walk under it, it’ll drop on me. Not to mention it got angry one time with my brother who was yelling how ghosts aren’t real, it threw an Easter basket at him. It’s also tugged on my pant legs while doing laundry.
Helloooo!!! Fish 👏🏻tank 👏🏻review. 👏🏻Haha! My favorite Monday ‘show’
Hopefully that grudge finds a better home or gets an upgrade. You cannot keep a demon in a 40 gallon.
lmaoo
Mondays are better with Chris
Chrisss pls make more videos about ur tanks and u aquascaping i miss videos about u and ur pets
Qotw- yes. Yes I do.
Black out days for hair algae, huh? Gonna try that. I pull out globs of hair algae, and I'm getting sick of it. Had hoped I could shade it out with Amazon frogbit, but adding in blackout days can't hurt.
yeah for sure! Just gotta be careful cuz blackout days will also hurt the plants u have!~
I don't believe in ghosts but I do think of all the previous inhabitants of the tanks I've reused four or five times when I set up a new tank.
Brooo, my Biology teacher is like the first tank 💀
That last loach looks like, no, IS a baby sewellia lineolata (stingray), around 1 month old. I have the bottom of one tank crawling with them and am binge watching them growing up. Loved the video as always. You're a very decent hater. Restecpa.
These videos are my weekly reminder to wage war on hair algae
QOTW - worked night shift at a resort somewhat secluded in the mountains for 5 years. There was a local spirit called the "Purple Lady" who was murdered when there was a train running though a large tunnel that went under the lodge. She was called "Purple Lady" because she was found mutilated in one of those old time purple victorian dresses; her killer was never found and her murder never solved. My shifts were usually from 10pm - 7am with the park rangers leaving around midnight, thus leaving me solo working until my relief came in. Saw her walk across the parking lot, and down the woodland trail to where the old train station used to be a few times. I would have people come running in from the trails around the lodge saying she was screaming or calling for them to follow her. She was active in the lodge itself too, throwing things, moving chairs in the dining area, knocking on windows, flushing all of the toilets in the women's bathroom at once and slamming the door. Just very unsettling and spooky. I can count on my hand the number of nights that there WASNT any activity. Glad i dont work there anymore.
damn im outtie folks that's enough for me
I've been using pill boxes for a while cuz i go on camping trips of a week sometimes, still doing the waterchanges myself when i get back though
noice!
Skipping school to be here rn!!!
pls dont skip school!
I believe, and I even see it almost all the time
the inicial comment got me related but is almost one and half years and im figthing the urge for a cherry shrimp tank
On a teacher salary...🙃within a month should be getting proper plants rocks wood substrate... you probably just broke her bank account 🤣 her kids be eating top ramen for another month 😁
My biology teacher had a 80cm tank, like 30cm in height and 30cm in width, filled with goldfish and some turtles..
after a few weeks there was only one goldfish left😬
yiiikes
i love betta fish
and i got ... i think an older boy who lost a lot of his colors.
skin colored .... and now vibrant blue fins :D
I asked ChatGPT how big a goldfish tank should be:
A goldfish tank should be at least 20 gallons in size. However, it's always better to err on the side of caution and get a larger tank if possible. Goldfish are known to produce a lot of waste and they need plenty of space to swim and grow. A good rule of thumb is to provide at least 10 gallons of water per goldfish, so a 20-gallon tank would be suitable for two goldfish. Keep in mind that goldfish can grow quite large, so you may need to upgrade to a larger tank as your fish grow.
Restored my faith in AI
Unfortunately, teachers often think they know everything much better than their students. All the better that she has listened to the student and will get a larger tank.
they just can't even for a moment think there might be something their kids know that they don't xD
Fingernail polish rack! That’s it! Been looking for that for months. Later, on my way to google. Thanks to whoever showed that. 👍
OK WHY DID REPASHY DID NOT GET A WALL LIKE THE KING OF DIY PROMISED
she is the wall xD
Man, that teacher, I have two goldfish in a 220 litre converted bathtub (perks of my partner working for a plumbing supplier)
I think the "cornplants" are spider plants and the "Calathea" is a Marantha, but I could be wrong, don't come for me 😂
ur probably right LMAo im still bad
@@FishForThought no your not, you could be right! And I don't know the first thing about aquarium plants so yaknow 😁
