I wonder what gives Punjabi Mussulmaans the confidence that they can beat the Pushtuns? It has never happened in history, with the exception of Hari Singh Nalwa that Punjabis have dominated the land beyond Khyber.
A sustained conflict with the Taliban has the capacity to fracture Pakistan's polity - which in the long run may not he good for India either.
In reality there's no confidence.It's just fake bluster by the Pak Punjabis. In their hearts they know that a war with Afghanistan will be suicidal for Pakistan.

From Pakistan, a lot of Pakistanis like me have been extremely critical of Pak Army for breeding Taliban or other fanatic elements for decades. It's unfortunate that parliament and people don't enjoy any say in Pakistan and the military has been effective in establishing its firm control over the country of 240 million people with the help of their bosses in the west.
"Pak Army has bred a beast to bite others, now the same beast has turned against its owner" This was a writing on the wall but somehow Generals were too callous to read it. Caught in the middle is the innocent public who never had anything to do with this mess and will have to bear the brunt of this savagery.

NWFP was taken on lease by the British from Afghanistan just like Hong Kong. The lease ended in 1993 and NWFP should rightfully be returned to Afghanistan . India should become an ally of Taliban and , to begin with , help Afghanistan get back from Pakistan Pashtun areas east of the Durand line. Pakistan western border is at Attock and not at Landi Kotal'

I got nostalgic listening to Chittagong hill tracks, that is where I am from. That area is picturesque and yes a lot of the tribals reside there. They however do not recognize even two countries in their heart and greater Chittagong division was divided between India, Myanmar and Bangladesh with Bangladesh getting the city of Chittagong

I always been fascinated with Chttangong hill tracks & I couldn't yet understand why our leadership during partition given up such a strategic important place that too Muslims are not majority there yet we agree it to be with east Pakistan back then and even 1971 we could have taken it but some how we didn't... It's even more sad that Chittagong hill track slowly will lose it's indigenous charm to immigration of Bengali Muslims of Bengaldesh, They would have been better protected If they were with India.

Pakistan wanted to relive the 90s when the funneled the jihadis to Kashmir. But they are having their own Kashmir like insurgency. It will be bloody nightmare for them atleast for a decade.
It is best for the pakistanis to grow their economy and start paying off the tribes men for their own protection. That seems to be the only sane way to keep the peace in the near term.

I was listening to one podcast by an american professor regarding Afghan thought process, and why USA failed to udnerstand their society, he says Pashtuns think that Punjabis and Sindhis are not considered kinsmen by pashtuns, who have more accomodating views about balochs, maybe because they are fellow Iranic people, also they think that Punjabis and Sindhis are recently converted and are not as much of muslims that the pashtun are, I dont know to what extent this is true.

It is to the NATIONAL INTEREST of INDIA to keep Afghans contained through AfPak entanglement in border areas of both countries. India should do whatever it demands spend whatever it takes to strengthen Afghan and Pakistani Taliban against Pakistani Security Forces.
The day Afghans reach to a peace accord with Pakistan; it would be a dooms day for India. It has many many references from historical attacks of Afghans all across India. India. The astrological knowledge says that there is going to be a war between Pakistan and Afghanistan after which they would become ONE and join hands against INDIA.
So it is better for Indians to always keep dual nationality just in case Pakistan and Afghanistan decide to join hands against INDIA....

And government of India may want to conduct elections in whole of J&K, which includes the territories of the J&K which have been occupied by Pakistan
