I agree with Damian: on a sports car, sound is as important as handling. And the difference before and after is night and day. Pricey, but how could you not do this? Very well shown with the 'old' and 'new' shots: it now sounds like a Porsche; the old one sounded like an 80 year old farting in a bath.
I originally thought this video wasn't worth my time from the title, but I'm glad I watched it, you presented it very well. I think if you have the money, it's worth the expense because it totally transforms the character of the car.
First of all, it is your car and your personal upgrade. Your honesty is again why I watch and click on this video. In that way, you and I are just the same. We all have not sat in your car, it is a lot more difficult for us to judge. But based on your words and what we can hear I think I understand the purchase. When it makes you smile a lot more in the end it doesn't matter anymore what it cost. It has been paid already so Damian, enjoy it.
I think you can blame EU noise and emissions regulations for that. Will be interesting to see if the new 992 GT3 will also sound as suffocated from the factory.
The words: "Welcome to the cars Guys..." Makes my Friday evening & perfectly completes my week, and starts my weekend...especially when a Porsche is involved! And your car sound SO MUCH better! (Still doesn't pop & crackle like a 981 though.) Thanks Damian, for keeping us sane! 👍🏻😄👏🏻
I always watch on Saturday morning being 7 hours ahead in Thailand, morning coffee, fresh fruit lots of sunshine, great start to the day. Have a great weekend
You're the one who has to drive it fella. If it makes you happy, and produces 'that' grin, then it's all worth it. I like it. It's definitely something I would have done.
Sound & Looks is Everything to a Sports Car ......Everything.... You Want To Be Seen & Heard Thrilled Every Time You Get Into That Car ... You Have Done Well Damian Cheers .
its so hard to record an exhaust sound and to produce it on youtube, partly as the actual volume level is fixed, that said its clear to hear this new exhaust is more sonorous - I've been waiting for this one Damian and it doesn't disappoint, now should I do it too??
Hello Roger, The Car Guys said the sound is "fine" when I asked dies it still meet new EU sound regs (legal) I'd need to cofirm this before fitting one to my Cayman. Like does it affect Warenty/Insurance (no doubt as it cost lots more) Emissions/db output. I doubt it would be worth the costs & Hastle for a better sound on a Base 718. I Love mine & it Pops in Miami Blue. All the best Steve.
Great improvement. Balance on noise level and quality just right. Price a bit high yes, BUT, a titanium exhaust that will probably last the life of the car. Great long term proposition.
TDesign do a little memory module you can easily install in the middle console that saves the auto stop setting when you turn the car off. You can then ignore that drone “feature” forever. Lovely. New exhaust sounds great!
Genuine bloody goosebumps, what have you done! That exhaust has made that car, well done 100% approval rating. Beat a path to Stratford upon Avon Porsche people.
Wow! sounds amazing... I love the tone (and the change in tone through the rev range). Exhaust note is a fine art to sound good but not be obnoxious and you nailed it.
With the new exhaust, you can actually hear that the gases flow with pressure. On the old one, you couldn`t hear that a bit. It`s not too loud, the pipes look great and when you lay under the car in your free time you can see the color change. Beautiful!
Even via the compressed sound files of a UA-cam video, played out through the Lilliputian speakers of a smartphone, that sounds like a marked improvement. When you are ‘a car guy’ Investing in the pleasure one derives from a machine is never money wasted. A great car appeals to all the senses and the sonic element is vital when you are chasing that next hit of automotive pleasure. Plus it was a sculptural thing of beauty, making the OEM box look pretty agricultural. Worth the wait. Thanks for sharing Damian’.
It was a very good improvement! The sound is now more GT3’ ish that is every Porsche owner sound bench mark. Price really is a bit steep like you said. For 3 k would be a no brainer. Love the 718 Spyder too. Looks like a baby Carrera GT that we all love.
I like the new sound. Not sure it’s a game changing improvement (well, not £5k’s worth anyway) but it does allow us to hear more of this engine’s character and personality, unstrangled. Personally, I think I like the sound of the previous Boxster Spyder’s exhaust a bit better but the new car is of course much better overall. Hope you enjoy it and please let us see how it beds in and the colour changes 👍
This video made a good end to a poor week for me. The new exhaust does sound much better, and the chap who fitted it seemed like a good bloke too. Here’s to many enjoyable miles Damian!
It is an improvement but I think I can hear the valves still interfering at the lower rpms as you increase the revs. It may be worth getting a valve control unit. I think SOUL make one.
That new exhaust has just unlocked a corker of an engine note. Way better than before by a long, long way. Well worth every single penny of your hard earned.
The new exhaust sounds fabulous! The cost is peanuts when you amortize over all those miles you will cover with a grin on your face. Two thumbs up 👍. Yours truly, a 981 GTS owner.
Friday has landed. Fantastic, means another episode of the car guys. Brilliant videos, thanks for always posting such worthy content. Racing home now to grab a beer and some popcorn. This expat in the US says ‘awesomeballs, it’s Friday 🍻’.
Have you considered the Cargraphic Valve Controller? Given that the valves are closed from 2000-5000rpm with the sports exhaust on then having the valves open throughout the rev range makes a huge difference.
Damian/Jason.... Another great video! After covid i think you should have a meet & greet & maybe a comp to meet you both 1 on 1 & a chance for a ride in a car or two! What a prize!
In my peasant universe I could not face paying so much for an exhaust but in your universe that is an excellent purchase which will add residual value to the degree it would have hardly cost you anything when it comes to resale time.
Sounds absolutely awesome on start up-that for me was the most immediate difference.Overall improvement in sound 80%.Overall value for money 60%-in my humble opinion it’s not £5000 worth of improvement.
@07:26 very Paul Whitehouse “does she bark at you when you rev her sir? Oooh suits you sir! Suits you!” This is the video I voted for and I admit I did think with the old exhaust “what’s he on about?” But the new one sounds so sweet! 7 dislikes? Really people????
Great choice Damian. It seems to have gone from a relatively tuneless ‘blare’ to a proper Porsche ‘howl.’ 5 grand to transform the car seems like an absolute bargain.
Agreed that sound is such an important facet to enjoying a car. Pity OPFs have been introduced and that Porsche play it so safe with their stock exhausts. Guess it’s to comply with various geo regs.
The new sound is a huge improvement. 5k is a lot, but a small % of the cost if that car. Nicely done. You could probably recover some of that by selling the old but still new one.
I think you’ve done a cracking job in turning the car into something that you want, rather than following everyone else. Sounds great. Yes £5k is a lot, but if you’re keeping that car long term, you’ll get plenty of enjoyment from that rumble. 👍
Just added a Litchfield exhaust to my 718 GTS 4.0. Really pleased with the upgrade at just under 4K. Not quite as aggressive as yours but still transforms the car.
That is awesome Damian, congrats on finding something that you are happy with! From what I hear about other high end aftermarket exhaust systems costing, you got lucky by at least 50%! Can't wait to here the new air intake too.
I like the improvement in sound without crossing over into crazy loud. I also like that there is a shut off option but I'm not so sure about the cone shape of the exhaust tips. overall it's a winner.
Love the new exhaust but have to roll my eyes a bit on the price ... even in Titanium seems about double fair market. But still she does sing sweetly at high revs so the improvement is real and you actually got what you paid for . Cheers!
Every time I see this car it increases my hankering for an 05-06 987 Boxster. But a bigger house beckons the £££. 😞 Nice review too, I like the honesty about the price and value.
It sounds like an old race car befitting the whole theme of the car, well worth the expense if you can afford it. Turn the driving sections black & white and you could be Paul Newman or Steve McQueen racing with that sound.
Awesome upgrade! When I had my 986S I was always intimidated by the sound of the 996 Carrera S of a friend. Untill I had a full Fabspeed exhaust fitted to my car (also with the ECU tune and air intake). Price wise about the same as your Titanium exhaust but it was the best upgrade ever! Love your channel guys, keep up the good work 👍
Nice to actually have a genuine UA-cam channel, not paid off by brands and not afraid to tell it how it is. The Car Guys bridge the gap nicely between proper motoring journalists like Chris Harris, Henry Catchpole, Harry Metcalfe - and the influencer brigade.
Hi Damian, would you consider doing a similar modification to your Pista? This is from a fellow Pista owner (based not far away in Andover) and considering a similar modification. Keep up the great work on the channel! Thanks
Much improved quality of sound for sure. I'm surprised, it looks like it would be quite antisocial, but actually sounds just right
Agreed. Sounds spot on to me. An expensive, but worthwhile upgrade. Not sure about the seats though 😉
@@SteveBUK73 it is worthwhile just because the stock exhaust sounds rather offensive 😅

You might wonder why Porsche didn’t do this themselves, they went back to 6 cylinders, so why not make it sound better! Brilliant vid as always!
I think you can blame EU noise and emissions regulations for that. Will be interesting to see if the new 992 GT3 will also sound as suffocated from the factory.

Sounds fantastic! Transformed it into the car we all knew it was. And reassuring to know it is possible, despite OPF.
Vast improvement is an understatement,
Sounds so much better throughout the rev range - great pic !
BEN IS A NATURAL AT THIS VIDEO GIG ! GREAT WORK ON UNLEASHING THE NOISE DAMIAN.
I totally agree - Ben should do his own channel
Love the noise out of those pipes ! Giving me ideas but on a smaller budget !

What a wonderful noise. Completely transforms the car.
Great choice! Worth every penny! We only live once. Money is to be earned, grown, saved and SPENT.
Holy poop! This is the first exhaust switching I actually like and wouldn't be ashamed of! What and improvement, yet still civilized.
holy and this is the silenced one. sounds amazing and opf still installed. this is amazing

@@JCRDevelopments my Spyder is scheduled for delivery March 2021, do I go for silenced or un-silenced?
@@harryatkinson9757 tricky one, really depends if you want to maximise the sound available whilst retaining the OPF then non-silenced is the way to go

What a difference, the old sounded like it had a leak in the manifold. The new one sounds more as you would expect from a F6. Very nice.
