This was so much better than anything I’ve found on BM’s UA-cam. A lot of the info about DMR just kinda starts with assuming you know so many aspects of it. Thanks for this.
This in my opinion is one of the best videos that explains how to set up DMR. Way better than any of the bigger names YT'ers out there. Big thanks again for explaining the breakdown on Talk groups, Zones, and Contacts. Now I can properly set up my Revetis R3TS which I have been working on for quite some time now. Another subscriber from the West Coast.
The most difficult part for me is having to figure out what What Repeaters support What Talk Groups. In Wisconsin and Illinois, it's Chicagoland, DMR-MARC and Brandmeister and Tri-State. Trying to figure out What talkgroups go where... I guess I will list them out sequentially in "Talk Groups" and then go through each one and verify TS1 vs TS2 for each TG. I also need to work on my Cut and Paste Skills to be able to do this, and working with Excel which I have never used.
I have a Wouxun UVN-1. I have watched this video about a dozen times. I have checked and rechecked everything and it still doesn't work. I am about to box it up and take it to a hamfeast and say bye bye to DMR. If you could get one of these radios and do a video on programming it. that would be great. It would save me from taking a hit on selling it. By the way, I don't have anymore hair to pull out.😅
I know this is a year later, but I wish I could have found this much sooner. As a newbie HAM, my son gave me a DMR HT for Christmas and I've been racking my brain and Google to figure out the interconnections/relationships with Channels, Frequencies, Talk Groups, Contacts, Zones, etc. all work. Although still scratching my head a bit, this video was super helpful giving me a better understanding of the terminology and relationships. This is Part 1 but I can't seem to find Part 2. Is it on your list somewhere? Thank you. KI5YUU.
At the moment no. I'll be back home in about a week....I just never followed up. When I get home, I'll try to get part two done. There didn't seem to be interest and I probably put it to the side of something.. thanks for the compliment, I'll get it on the list
Great Video ! Helps I am 60 mi away from the Tri-State sites. That was a huge help 😅. I am programming the Anytone 868uv HT. The software sucks. Is there better software free or paid that will work universally with everybody’s radios ? Does RT Systems have DMR software with Databases that are updated ?
Ok , please go through this message as I am having the stupendously hard time in trying to connect a Motorola DP4800 and an AT 868 on DMR on simplex. Nothing freaking seems to work.
Dmr or analog? Are you trying to use encryption? What are your settings for each radio on that simplex frequency. Unfortunately, more information is needed before I can try to help
@@HAMRADIODUDE thank you for your support, mate. Digital DMR is the mode. The channel frequency is set on both , but where I seem to loose grip is what happens after. How do I put the info of one radio into the other , so they both know who are they calling. What is a Talk Group ? Does it represent the radio itself or the room both radios will be ? Do I check group call or private call ? Does the radio ID correspond to anything or I can simply add random numbers ? I m a HAM operator for 25 years and a pilot , so I am familiar with technology matters of this kind , but my oh my this is a recipe for disaster. 73 de SV4RIN
Do you have a video that shows how to install the CPS software needed to start using and programming repeaters for DMR? I have a new Radioddity DB-40D DMR radio and cannot figure out how to install the software. I would really appreciate if you could help me. Thanks
I do not. I also haven't seen that radio. However, what is happening when you try to install the software, or is the problem you cannot locate it? Thanks.
@HAMRADIODUDE , I installed it on my PC but could never get to a screen where I could type in frquencies and their names and sub-tones. There are reviews out on the DB40-D DMR from Radioddity but haven't helped me. So I'm sending it back and getting another new Radioddity the DB50 which is a dual-band that has 50w on VHF and approx. 39w on UHF. It really similar to the Anytone 8777 but with more power. I really liked the 8777 but wanted more than 20w of power and seen this new DB50 and I'm looking forward to it getting here and see how well it performs. Thanks for all your great videos and the information you help us all out with in them.👍💯🇺🇸KQ4SPY
Okay, if that wasn't simple enough, I got you! Take your DMR Radio and programming cable and throw it away. Good luck! :). In all reality, I kept it as simple as I could. Judging by the comments, it helped a lot of people. So if you let me know what is not simple, maybe I can help?:
@@HAMRADIODUDE sorry mate, my comment was more me wondering why i was finding it so hard to grasp, british irony, doesnt always translate. I will be rewatching as soon as my registration comes from connect systems, ive got a CS750. With all i know about programing my other radios, this just seemed next level on the first watch 😉
For DMR, I tend to stick with my vehicle radio, a Motorola xpr 5550. If I end up using an HT for DMR, it would typically be with a dual band DMR HT like the gd77 or similar. I'd like to pick up the anytone 868 soon.
what software do i need to program a Radioddity DB25-D i cant seam to figure it out ! I Thought Chirp Would but it wont read it for what ever reason & i dont know Where to start..One says one thing and some other one says something Else & i am kinda going in circles
Hello there. I checked amazon - [2022-03-11 CPS 3.3 - FW 2021-12-11 - CPEditor for DB25-D] Available for downloading on radioddity site Newest Firmware: 2023-07-06 909E.Dx.EARSAB.018 . So that would most likely be referencing the CPEditor software. Accordign to the link on radioddity's website: www.cpeditor.co.uk/ Typically (I dont' think ever) you won't find DMR radios on Chirp.
That may have been my fault. Let me see what I could come up with. I may have never published it. I'll try to get back to you quickly. In the meantime, if there's anything I can answer, please let me know

I am actually staring at my GD77 right now. Literally just staring. This is a very timely video for me. Thanks!
Hopefully it helps
Amazing video, easy to understand the complicated world of DMR. Please, please part 2!!!!! Thanks
Video production is in process. Thanks for the motivation!

Code plugs can be intimidating to folks at first, nice job with the topic.
Many thanks. I thought I made a codeplug video when my channel first started, but I cannot find it, so I must be incorrect. 73
They’re too complicated
This is a really good vid about CPS software. Thanx, Dude!
Thank you for teaching me!! I learned DMR.
Nice, easy, and relaxed tutorial, thank you.

Sorry but DMR is too complicated for so little benefit
This was by far the most helpful video for me learning to set up a code plug for my DM-1701. Thank you!
Thank You so much!
Good DMR guidance! But about blanking a codeplug - some CPS/radios insist on keeping at least one zone/channel/TG.
