Build Your Own Tillering Tree

- One of the most valuable tools in my bow making workshop is the tillering tree. It's also one of the simplest and least expensive tools. It's a wall mounted contraption that allows you to stand back and judge the tiller of a bow from a safe distance while also getting draw weight and draw length measurements. This video shows how it's used and what you need to build your own.
Loving all your videos, Weylan👍🏼👍🏼
Do a video on building a shave horse!!! I'm building one out of some pine trimming and I'm trying to figure out how to put a arrow straightener, limb bender, tillering post, work bench and shave horse all in one!
Ive never built one. I've had my metal Stavemaster all this time and it's so great to use I've never felt the need to make my own. Yours sounds like an ambitious project! Share some pictures with me when its finished.
Excellent video my friend, thanks for taking the time to share this with us, I appreciate you. Love using the crook of a tree, looks sweet and like you said its closer to how you would actually hold the bow as well. Thanks again and have a blessed week

Thank you!
I like this. I will modify mine to make necessary improvements.
Is that a English longbow? It certainly looks like one.
It's more of an American style longbow. It's stiff in the handle with a bit of a pronounced handle shape. Otherwise it's pretty similar to an English longbow
@@SwiftwoodBows I noticed that the belly is rounded that's why I thought it was a English longbow. Another thing is the lack of fades.
It does have the rounded belly. It's maybe a hair wider than your typical elb. It has some very subtle fades
@@SwiftwoodBows in your opinion what's the best design for a selfbow?
The best selfbow design is the one that's best for the stave. That being said I make a lot of American flatbows
You may use a second pulley to make it easier to pull, and a notch bar, as was done here:
