- The Cartier Style et Luxe lawn at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is where the most beautiful cars of every Festival are kept. This year the categories included a celebration of the ultimate dream supercar - the McLaren F1- two classes of Ferraris celebrating the Prancing Horse's 75th anniversary, a class for the extraordinary Grand Routier cars of the 1930s and more. Star cars include those McLaren F1s, the Ferrari F50, F40 and Enzo, Bugattis, Matras and more.

Amazingly knowledgeable presenters, I've always liked Jonny but hadn't heard of the other chap Richard, But wow! he knows his stuff! and the pair are a great duo, loved it
If you have ever watched Top Gear from the Clarkson / Hammond / May era or indeed The Grand Tour then you have watched Richard’s skill as a script editor. He worked on the original Top Gear as a researcher and then started Sniff Petrol a spoof motoring journalism website. Most motoring journalists were taken with it. Clarkson worked out who Sniff Petrol was and hired him for the TG re-boot. V funny chap.

4:30 Honestly it taking parts from normal production cars is part of what makes it so charming, you just don't see it anymore with modern hypercars where each millimeter of the car is custom designed by teams of engineers just for that car
Quite a few of the modern ones do still use parts from other makes, or from within whichever group of companies owns them. Koenigsegg does a huge amount in-house though.

The electric mirror adjuster was probably the most reliable part of the Vauxhall Cavalier. So McLaren chose well. Trust me I owned an Astra and it had the same switch and it never failed. Mirror adjuster and heating function.

There were 10 F1’s at the FOS in total, more in the other paddocks.

6 on the lawn, 3 of them in the main paddock (they were GTR models) and the last one is the deconstructed one at the Levante stand

When I see the prices of Dino's today I always have a chuckle, I bought mine back in 92, always great to see you guys at Goodwood, Rj in Oz

Everyone has always said that 106 McLaren F1's were made, but Richard said 107. If it were anyone else my instinct would be to think that they're wrong, but instead I'm wondering what the man of boring car trivia knows that the uninformed like myself don't know about the count.

I used to own Delta HF 4wd and can confirm it was an awesome car to drive. I can also confirm that I'm kicking myself that I sold it!!
One of my proudest memories was being athe first FOS and got to sit in the right passenger seat of XP3 😍
As well as the borrowed door mirrors and gear knob F1’s also have electric window switches from an E36 BMW 3 series.
Cheers for a tremendous vid as always Jonny and Rich. The dimpled shift knob in the F1 was very popular with BMW super touring and BTCC cars in the 90s. I believe they were maybe made of Delrin with weighted centres for optimal shift feel.

I think I'm right in saying it cost the Schnitzer BMW team that ran the F1 GTR's around $20mil. for an entire season; now the car alone costs that much.

Quite cool to take a look at the t.50, they look so similar even tough f1 is almost 30 years old . Says alot how far in the future they where with this car when the design Feels new still and it took 16 years until their speed record was broken

there was a green unipowere sitting in a back garden near my parents house when i was young so the late 70s - 80swith a for sale sign . it was right next to the main road and just slowly deterioted then they moved and so did it before i was old enough to buy it

I was lucky enough to go to the revival last year and in the big public car park, up against a tatty old Citroen Picasso was a red F1. I hear the guy who owns it does that sort of thing all the time

Quality insight into the Carrier Styleee Looks, I was with non car Plebs who appreciated the spectacle but I was unable to dig deep into the minutia

Julian Thompson who styled the MK1 Elise owned a Dino at the time and was briefed to give it classic looks. Same wheelbase but Dino is longer so looks sleeker as a result.

Why is the Mclaren F1’s gear-lever on the right? It should be on the left hand side
Because most people are right handed and most cars around the world are left hand drive, right is a better position for it for most, the t.50 also has the gear lever at the right.
@@agelistrator but every car in countries that drive on the correct side of the road changes gear with the left hand.

The F50, while I have no doubt is an amazing driver's car, looks like one of those roto-molded plastic beds for children that looks like a supercar.

I would love to be Nick Mason He has got some Beautiful and rare Vehicles including a very rare plane he has 2 of the rarest cars in the world the first one is this beautiful F1 GTR Which is chassis number 10R The R stands for race it’s very special because it was the first GTR that McLaren turned from race car at to Road car he also has a Ferrari 250 GTO Not a bad investment if you ask me considering Ferrari only made 36 GTO‘s how many are left I do not know but one not too long ago sold for 70 million
Beat me to it - smith & sniff, the red GTR with the rubbish decals is the (rebuilt) one of Nick Mason’s. He binned it at a Goodwood Members Meeting during a ‘demonstration’ lap
Ouch I bet that was expensive this GTR May not be the best looking well that’s what you get with 90s graphics but the history and the person is who owns it makes up for it he’s owned this car for absolute decades

Great content... but one criticism - I really don't need to see you guys so much when you are talking about the cars... show the cars... show the inside; the outside; the engines; the angles... I know what you look like - I hear what you are saying... but cut to the cars and the event going on...
The cars aren't open though so no access to interior and engine bays! I'm sure they would have done if possible

It takes a while once uploaded for the quality to reach its highest level. Usually around 10-15 minutes. That’s why some channels upload videos as premiers because you can then upload it as full quality and set a time for it to go live.

The offset speaking into the camera is seriously odd and makes the slightly intense Mr Porter appear some what more so. All the videos these pair have made are the same and IMO needs a rethink.
If ya don't like it, don't watch. Make your own video that's better, if ya can. In other words, take your bitter attitude elsewhere and think before you communicate. Think about what just happened to you.
I have to agree, the presenting is fantastic but switching to Camera B whilst they are talking into Camera A makes me feel left out of the conversation a little.
It's only a small niggle though.
