I never went bass fishing before, but I've been subbed to your channel for a while. I bought myself a cheap little baitcaster and went out to a pond this morning and caught my first ever large mouth (17"!) using a Texas rig after learning how by watching your channel. So I just wanted to say thanks and I love your channel!
I finally realized why I love these videos so much- you get as excited as the 99.9% of all of us out there to get a fish, and flat-out stoked when you find something as big as a three pounder. You can only watch so many dudes with their $50k boats, landing monsters before you lose sight of what made us love pounding the banks as kids. That tick-tick-tick on the end of the line is all that matters.
After being away from fishing for 20+ years, I’m slowly getting gear and getting back out there from time to time (work permitting). This rig reminds me of my childhood days. Thank you!
1:25 bro you explained it perfectly for a new beginner like me. I always wondered why the point of the hook was below the plastic. But that simple demonstration showed me why! I know, it’s embarrassing for me to even say that....but I have no shame in saying I’m brand new to all of this and I’m willing to learn as much as I can! Thank you!
No shame! This stuff has gotten pretty complicated which is why I like the Realistic Fishing UA-cam channel. A Texas rig is simple but versatile and deadly effective.
I really like that you show every cast damn near even if its not a fish cause it shows how tuff the bite can be even when you use something you know catches fish
Just stumbled upon this channel - I love how straightforward and to the point it is. No gimmicks, just the techniques, and you seem like the type of fisherman who'd be a good dude to get a beer with. Subscribed!
Sorry I know this video is 3yrs ago but new subscriber fisherman and wrestling fan...thanks for the Texas rig hook up... I've tried to get it down with out messing up my lures did the step by step you showed and got it down perfect...and thanks for doing it step by step and not like other anglers who show you and speak so fast by the time you catch up they already have it in the water..so again thank you lol .....and "I'm keeping it realistic"
@strange ghost I was having the same issue with stick baits- killing them whacky rigged, but needed something weedless. Finally hit on using baby bass colors (green on top, white on the bottom, with black flakes- Yum are cheap and have a good one). Bring a Sharpie and color the tails black. You will be shocked at how realistic they look, and the difference in catches is night and day.
as someone who’s just starting out, this video was a lot of help. i’ve been given the advice of texas rig worms but now i’ve seen it and action and the technique that goes along with it. look forward to trying this out myself. hopefully i catch some beauties. (any fish caught is a beauty to me right now lol)
Been struggling on the Texas rig for the past 3 months on the technique and rigging. After watching ur video I went out and got 2 in a row and then a 3rd 15 min later. Thx so much for the advice. Love using them now and have no problem picking them up on a slow day. Love ur channel
Been watching ur channel for a while and love all ur videos. Ur by far one of my fav fishing youtubers. Just realistic and down to earth. Best thing u could ever ask for with a fishing UA-cam channel. Thx
I've been watching videos about bank fishing for a few weeks trying to get tips. This is literally the first video I've came across that broke things down simply. Thanks for posting. Please make more like this!
Just spent 3 hours trying to fish a Texas Rig for the first time. Didn’t catch squat. Left feeling like there was something I was missing. Lo and behold, I get home and you have uploaded this video lol awesome as always, thank you.
Admittedly, I have always gotten overwhelmed with the choices of types and colors of soft plastics. Your video demonstration made a definitive point that those things don’t matter as much as we think. Truly, keeping it realistic! Thanks for the great content!
My 7 yo grandson and I are graduating up to bass fishing from sunfish, worm and bobber fishing. We both watched your video. It was an absolutely perfect instructional video for a short attention span. His too!…Great Job sir!
It’s refreshing to watch a UA-cam video in which the term “Texas rig” is properly used to include the bullet weight. Too many anglers (and UA-camrs) incorrectly refer to the Texas rig when describing a weedless or weightless rig without the bullet weight.
Thanks very much for your explanation and demonstration, I look forward to trying this out when I go fishing tomorrow! Edit: Tried it, got a small bass on the first cast! I love it and I'm glad I added this technique to my arsenal. Thanks!
Texas Rig is really good but im new to fishing and whenever I use it down in Florida it always still gets stuck in the mud and stuff. do you know how to avoid that and any tips?
Going to give this a try over the weekend. Thank you. Trying to get back into fishing it has been about 25 years since I was fishing on a regular basis.
Because of this video I used the Texas rig you showed and did the best to mimic your "dragging" technique. Result: I caught my first big bass!!! Thank you!!!!!
hey man, this was probably the best how-to video or texas rigging plastic worms. I have honed in my crankbait game, but fishing from the bank at the lake every weekend, I've lost more than I can remember to snags. I know it's not that difficult but, I've watched other channels all summer thinking I just needed this type of worm, or this brand of creature only to fail miserably every time I tried them. I feel more confident about the baiting of the hook in 15 min than the last 4 months of watching other videos combined. honestly. And I agree with the others, your excitement is great and your voice is very calming. I can't wait to try out what I've learned today. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for finally putting to rest the argument that one color is better than another. I think that dark vs light is useful based on murky/clear conditions but no more change ups just for color. Maybe for variety, you know, the spice of a bass's life. Thanks for a great show. Canada's watching.
You have helped me learn about bass fishing. Before now I have always been a bobber, and catfisherman. Thank you so much for opening the world of lures to me
watched over 100 fishing videos about texas rig and from all of those complicated sponsored fishing videos etc I FINALY found your video. So easy and simple and straight forward explanation... I bought me a cheap 2 piece 180cm pole and it came with a 0.20 reel and unknown silk or whatever you call it.. and within 3 hours I got my first 4 pikes in my life. For some reason they liked it more than bass or i just threw in wrong place :D ... subbed
Getting back to bass fishing in June. I’ve been busy with lots of yard work and manual labor in my neighborhood and haven’t had much time to fish. You have an awesome no nonsense channel that teaches and encourages others to go angling. Great job!!
I tried a power worm today and after about 30 casts in the same hole with no luck i switched to a crawdad orange 1/4 oz rooster tail spinner and 4th cast i hooked a 5-6lbs 20.5 inch large mouth! That baby was rippin line :D you never know what might work and im glad i didn't give up. It was from the bank and i landed it without a net on 8lbs line. A great day I'll always remember fishing with my dad 😎👍
Great video bro. Prob one if the best texas rig fishing vids out there. U showed how to rig it, fish it, and proved that it catches fish. Also fun fact, I caught my first bass of 2024 back in May on a texas rig black and blue senko because of your video. Just wanted to share that with u. 💪🔥🎣
I grew up fresh water fishing and Largmouth bass are always fun to catch. I honestly have used the Texas rig as my rig of choice as long as I have fished and will probably only ever use that rig. The Texas rig is probably the easiest and most effective rig in my eyes for all levels of fisherman. Like you were describing in the video the Texas rig is unique because of its ability to let you fish areas that with most lures you would not be able too, and if you love bass fishing than you know the more coverage for the bass to hide and keep shade than the bigger the fish. I love to fish spinners (strike king is probably the only brand in spinners i use)but those areas were you can get snagged you will loose a fortune in tackle, making the Texas rig the ideal approach. I have caught 10 to 12 pound Largmouth on a Texas rig in the middle of thick Lilly pads. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming man FISH ON!!!
Instant subscribe from me. I watched your video today, then went out at lunch and caught my first Largemouth on a Texas Rig after watching how you retrieve it. (16"!)
Thank you so much for taking this step by step! By far the most informative and easiest video i’ve watched! I been fishing on and off for several years with live bait such as worms and minnows. I wanted to try something new so today i went out to buy a decent bass rod and reel, and picked up a pack of green watermelon senkos. Thanks to you I now know how to rig, bounce and cast. I hope I can finally land fish on a plastic worm!
Nice fishing! You got mad skillz with worms! Do you think you could do another one with creature baits one day? I would like to see more about fishing with them.
The same way my Papa taught me. I love the Texas Rig. I caught a majority of my bass from that. Memories 😂 Alex those where again some great bass. Thank you for the information and trip down memory lane.
Nice video, Alex. I have to say, it is your earlier videos that got me hooked on bass fishing a year ago. Thanks to you, I can catch big bass knowing that I am not burning a whole through my wallet every time. Thank you, sir!
I’m so happy to find a straight forward video! I also found that the estrogen flowing through our waste systems (hormone pills thrown down toilets, etc) are Turing over 50% of the male bass populations into females.... their populations are collapsing in some areas
Not many video you see actually show technique and how to properly setup one of these rigs. I mean you did it a way that even I was able to follow along. I got stubborn bass in our private lodge lake that won't take anything. But perhaps with this method I should be able to target the more easier. I got lots of plastic worms and hope to get some nice video of getting some bass.. Can't wait to get on the water.. Thank you sir for such a helpful teaching video.
thanks for clear concise vid, I have just had to give up bass on a fly rod due to shoulder problem, all my experience on how to catch bass on a fly rod just went down the drain, tied my own fly's also, I bought my first bait caster rod & reel and with a few practice sessions I can now cast it with my left arm, its funny, with a fly rod I cast with my right arm and cranked the reel with left hand, now I cast with left arm and reel with right hand, anyway, im grateful for the no bull information on how to fish a Texas rig, I have a few rapala's and a few worms and im starting over.........
Thanks for making a basic fishing video that we all can understand. I am 54 and in my second year bass fishing and getting better but there is a lot to learn. Thanks for making it understandable and realistic! Keep up the good work
Hi there just wanted to say thank you very much. I watched this a couple of day ago and went fishing today and i got the biggest bass of my life about 18 inches long very happy man here
Nice video man I've been a saltwater guy for years just moved to the Midwest and getting ready to try my hand at bass fishing this helped me out a ton thanks
The Texas rig has been the most popular rig for fisherman probably forever. I don't use it as much as I should. I use the wacky rig mostly because I get most of my strikes on the fall after I cast it. That's a real nice looking lake tons of cover for Bass. Great video my friend!
I always have a Texas rig in the boat. Usually I throw a green lizard. Our lakes have so much slime grass I have to swim the lizard instead of dragging like you do. Good job Alex!
Absolutely loved this video. VERY well explained. Never been a big worm fan but I'm going to try it now. I mainly go after catfish so when I bass fish I usually just throw on a spinner bait or something. The more I watch videos the more I know I need to start using worms. Goin fishing tomorrow and your video makes using worms a no brainer. Thanks for all the tips. Take care!
@@RealisticFishing Hey my friend! Just following up to let you know that I caught my first bass on a worm yesterday thanks to your video. He was small but I didn't care. Man that felt good. Had another on and he took off to my left. Tried to set the hook and he came off. Disappointed, but totally excited that I had another one on. Feelin good about worms now and I have a lot of summer left to experiment and get better. Thanks again for your video. Steve P.S. I'm 57 and that was only about my second time fishing for bass with plastics. ( I usually fish for catfish but this summer I'm gearing up for bass) Take care!
Dude you are my hero! I just started fishing recently and every lake and stream by me has so much stuff growing in it that every 2-3 casts I was losing my lure. This setup will be perfect for my area! Thank you!!!
Hey Alex, I think people really liked this video. 🤗Been reading the comments. Liked the suggestion, someone made, about showing the right way to tie onto the hook whether you're using an EWG or a straight shanked hook. Terrible to hang into a bass and have your knot come untied. 🎣🐋 I've been using the old standard to tie mono on for years. Had an old fisherman teach me to put a drop of super glue on my knots. I don't do that anymore because I have confidence in my knots. However, it can be a lifesaver for a beginner. PS The super glue also makes for a smoother knot. Easier to thread the worm back on the hook when a fish slides your worm onto your line.
you only fished for 40 minutes wow most youtubers i see fish up to 2 to 4 hours. AMAZING! that shows you the power of the texas rig.PS another great vid Like always, KEEP IT REALISTIC
Yep, first way I learned, year and a half later, two bass this morn out in my kayak. Cheap worms, expensive worms, curly tail, finese worm stick worm, crawdads and creature baits, they all work with a texas rig... realistically, of course. 😋😆
I’ve watched some real good videos as of late. I’m a novice fishermen. Just now starting to get into bass fishing. Out of the videos I’ve seen this is by far the best one. Haven’t felt a need to leave a comment like I felt on your video! Excellent info and video!
I have really enjoyed watching your videos over the last couple of months. I see now that I haven't been fishing the Texas rig exactly right. Thanks for the good tips.
Great video Alex. I fish a Texas Rig alot myself. Even baits that most people say you are supposed to fish drop shot or whatever, I fish them Texas Rig and do just fine. Easy peezy lemon squeezy.
I never went bass fishing before, but I've been subbed to your channel for a while.
Ive said it many times...KING OF TX RIG!
Yep both lakes around here are good worm lakes. The Texas rig works well. Good video on instructing how to rig it and use it!!!
you only fished for 40 minutes wow most youtubers i see fish up to 2 to 4 hours. AMAZING! that shows you the power of the texas rig.PS another great vid Like always, KEEP IT REALISTIC
This was perfect and without all of that fancy shmancy stuff. Realistic indeed. Gonna try this week for sure. Thank you 🙏🏾
Good instructional video with no BS. "Keep it realistic"
Yep, first way I learned, year and a half later, two bass this morn out in my kayak. Cheap worms, expensive worms, curly tail, finese worm stick worm, crawdads and creature baits, they all work with a texas rig...
realistically, of course. 😋😆
Great way to bring that first bass in. Any new person watching will really learn from this video.
I’ve watched some real good videos as of late. I’m a novice fishermen. Just now starting to get into bass fishing. Out of the videos I’ve seen this is by far the best one. Haven’t felt a need to leave a comment like I felt on your video! Excellent info and video!
Thanks!
That was like fishing 101 , thanks for sharing your knowledge of worm fishing !!! I’m catching a lot of bass with these techniques, thanks to to you.
Awesome!
By far my favourite fishing UA-camr. Very educational
I love the clean/retro look of that rod. The nice shade of blue with cork grips is so saucy lol 🤣❤️
Great demonstration without a rig Texas worms and how to catch fish with them. Thanks
Man realistic you’re the real deal!!! That 1st fist was awesome!!!
Thanks for the pointers on a popular presentation and congratulations on the three pounder.
Thanks Dennis
I have really enjoyed watching your videos over the last couple of months. I see now that I haven't been fishing the Texas rig exactly right. Thanks for the good tips.
I hope this vid helps 👍
Great video Alex. I fish a Texas Rig alot myself. Even baits that most people say you are supposed to fish drop shot or whatever, I fish them Texas Rig and do just fine. Easy peezy lemon squeezy.
Very clear explanations, thanks! From a fisherman leaving in France
Thanks for watching!
Perfect demo, lots of casts and then work a big bass in.
Been getting into bass fishing since it is one of the few things socially distant to do since COVID. Rubber worms are always one of my favorites.
😁worms killing it!! That redish colored worm looked cool.
Glad to see you up and about still. I haven't watched your videos. Super glad alls well!!!!
