I was eating when you hooked up with the frog and Stars and Stripes came on. Had to stand quickly and salute you Sir. Spilled Gatorade into Mac N Cheese. Nice catch.
If I could make another suggestion, the majority of my success with a frog had been during the pause. You seem to twitch and reel pretty quickly and consistently. Give it 1-5 twitches and then force yourself to do a hard 5 second count. I throw in a 10 second count sometimes too. You’re doing great! Oh also when you hear/see the strike lower your rod and reel up the slack, the hammer it. If you don’t give them 2-4 seconds with the frog you will rarely hook up 😉 Congrats on the frog fish!!! 🐸
I do the exact opposite of what you're suggesting and am constantly twitching and reeling, and I swing as soon as I know the fish has it (could be immediately, could be after a couple seconds...it depends on how certain I am the fish has it). I've found that using the frog as a search bait and working it super fast in the thick stuff is a great way to get bit...all the commotion helps the fish accurately locate the frog through the pads or weed mats, and it forces them to react since they don't have time to think about it. I will slow down my retrieve to a twitch twitch pause if I'm casting at a nearby blowup or if a fish missed on the first pass, but I get more bites when I am working the frog hard. If they can hit a buzzbait or whopper plopper (which you can't fish in the weeds), they certainly can hit a fast frog that's moving weeds out of the way without stopping.
I caught my very first largemouth bass (11", 4.4 lbs) on exactly that lure, fishing the edges (and holes within) the lily pads at 2:00 pm in SW Florida. The Lunker Hunt Frog works amazingly well! It was also the first artificial lure I ever caught ANY fish on. Highly recommended.
Nothing better than a top water blow-up. Congratulations on your first frog bass. They say you never forget your first time. Proving once again persistence will eventually rule the day. A very realistic catch.
I saw a video and someone asked what their favorite bass fishing channel was and the first channel that came to mind was Realistic Fishing. You're always keeping it real and that's my favorite part.
The best frog for topwater fishing is a live one. 🐸 It does all the work for you and the bass love them. Of course, you have to be where they're common in the area you are fishing and readily available whether you catch your own or get them from a bait shop. 🐸 I don't care for using live bait, myself. It's kind of boring just sitting there letting the bait do your work for you. However, live bait will put more bass in your boat. If I were really hungry, I certainly would use live bait. I fish for the fun of feeling a bass pick up a worm or other lure. Big difference in fishing for fun or fishing for food.
Awesome video Alex and I don’t like to tell anybody how to fish because you’re doing pretty good on your own but frogs are usually for a scummy water where the fish can hide open water was a waste of time and also when they strike you have to try to count to three and then pullAnyway great video keep up the good work and keep it realistic
Honestly this gives me a lot more confidence in fishing because when I’m out I remember that I’m not gonna catch one on the first couple casts so the footage of him not catching anything is helping
Oh yeah! Love the music, lol! That was great! The pressure's off now, too! You've officially caught your frog fish, you can just carry the lure around and celebrate ANY good catch with frog pee!
Good stuff brother. Glad to see fishing videos on a fishing channel! I have been trying to watch some of those other youtubers,, I'm off it. Super sponsored lit don't even describe it. Wing eating contest, and casting challenges! What the heck? Anyway I'm a fan bro keeping it realistic.
What's up man It's KLG Maryland Fishing TV Did a channel name change . I've gotten some great bass on that Lunker hunt frog brother its a nice one . Congrats on your first Top water frog Bass . Good vid as always . Now just to upgrade the top water bass size on a frog that bite is the best for bass fishing they snatch it so fast and always looks awesome too . Have a wonderful weekend buddy .
Hey Alex, glad you were able to finally catch one on the frog. I know this comment is 3 days after the video but I have my best success using frogs when I reel and pause and wait for a few seconds. I have caught lots by mistake by leaving it in the water after reeling.
Congratulations on the 🐸! I love top water blow ups! And you are by far my favorite UTuber and the only one that has ever said anything back to me... So thanks and best of luck!
Congratulations Alex! Perseverance paid off. The frog may be a low percentage bait, but even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while. Good work buddy!
If you really want to catch a bass on a frog, get to where you're fishing about dawn when there's fog on the water. That's true for most top water. That's when I've had my best of luck with topwater. My idea of a frog lure is an Arbogast black broken-back Jitterbug, a big one.
That was BY FAR the best video I've watched in all of 2019 so far! BWA HA HA HA HA! Thanks for sticking with it, and letting us watch you stick with it, through disappointment AND success. Awesome video, awesome fisherman, awesome lessons, just awesome fun to watch. Can't tell you how much I appreciated everything about this!
Congrats on the frog fish!!!!!! For next time try bending the hooks a bit up with pliers so the point of the hook has about 1 to 2 mm gap from the body. Way easer to hook set the fish leading to less strikes without a fish on the bank or in the boat. It improved my hook set rate with frogs by a good 75% Awesome work and drive to get that frog fish.
That was awesome! Congrats on your first frog fish! Once you catch more on the frog your confidence level will go up. It's a deadly summer bait I've caught a bunch I probably throw a weedless frog more than any other bait this time of year. That last spot where you caught your fish is where you want to be throwing a frog always. The weedier and muckier is perfect for the weedless frog! I specifically look for the weediest spots to throw the frog into. Great job!
I recommend switching to braid for frog fishing. All of those hollow body frogs have pretty stout hooks. Mono stretches a bit and keeps you from getting hook penetration. Braided line will up your hook up ratio a lot. Also use the fastest tip rod you have - you don't want a deep rod bend when you set the hook.
Nice! Once you get on a consistent frog bite, it's all you want to do. Too exciting. My frogging set up is a 7'3" H rod, 8.0:1 reel, and 65lb braid (seems like overkill, but it's necessary since I'm in super thick pads and weeds). Going to that set up significantly increased my hook-up ratio...mostly due to the rod and line choice....a 7' or 7'+ rod in MH or H paired with braid really helps the hook-up ratio.
Hey Man, I got so excited for you when caught your frog-fish!!! At 1st I thought it wasn't gonna happen; I was thinking that the frog was a little too big. But you pulled through... way to go buddy. 👍😎👍
Congratulations on your 1st frog catch! When I heard John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" start playing, I stood up and saluted! Great touch to the end of a successful quest.
Your one fish up on me Alex with a frog. Congrats on finally getting your first frog fish. Pretty nice fish and bet it must of been really fun. Hopefully you continue to fish with a frog so I could learn from you how to pull one out.
Woo! Get em man! I'm headed out in the morning to do a little frog fishin myself! Hope you catch a big one this weekend! Good luck out there! Keep it realistic! 😎
Well done sir I'm glad you didnt give up. I use a medium heavy rod with a black max reel and 30lb braid. I also open the hooks up a lil bit and trim the legs down. The booyah pad crasher in white is my favorite. 👊👍
Frog tips: stick to shoreline cover pads and grass. Set the hook straight up and down not to the side it will help your hook ups And a med heavy pole with some 30-50lb braided line will make sure you can pull them through the muck with confidence❗️ congrats on your catch bud tight lines 🙏🏼
Have the exact same frog but just the smaller "pocket' frog version. That thing almost ALWAYS produces for me. Can work it so many different ways too. Slow, Fast, Stop & Go, anything. Nice selection!
First congrats on 50k subs, second congrats on your 1st ever bass on a frog and lastly I'll be sending you a package sometime this month with retro console, lures and 2 giveaways for 2 very very very lucky subs
Gotta put in time/work for frog fish. Glad it finally paid off. You will miss a ton sometimes but every blow up is worth the time spent. Don't get discouraged it's the same for all of us. Welcome to the club man
I had the same problem when I first stated back fishing. So for a long time I didn’t use frogs, so after about a year of having success on other types of lures I tried it again, this time in a pond with lots of toadstools, to date I think I’ve caught more bass with frog than any other lure. It really depends on where you fish with it, I would keep trying just find different environment to try them in. Also I use the smaller version of the same frog you showed in this video and it worked wonders.
Lol if I was fishing with you I'd have been laughing at the frog. Fished a thousand times, saw people use them, saw blowups at them, but I just have no confidence in them. Glad you got one, with the band music, good video.
The best part of your videos is your persistence if at first, you don't succeed keep trying if anything you are teaching the new generation to have patience and earn what they get. Yet another nice videos thank you for keeping itRealistic.
Congrats on your first frog lure catch. I've not landed one yet on those lures. Several have hit it and I've battled them for a few seconds but I cant seem to get the hooks to stick. My favorite so far is the scum frog, maybe ill give the lunker hunt a try. It definitely does seem to get the best success in the weedy and mucky stuff. Again, congrats.
Sweet! congratulations. I have that same lunker frog. I've had several blow ups on it but I've had a real difficult time hooking a fish with it. I'll go give it another try !
Way to keep trying the realistic way I have a few of the pro frogs with trailer hooks on them if your fishing thick cover I take the trailer hooks off I love seeing top water blow ups great video
Nice hookset on the frog set👊. Have tons of frogs in the excursion box lol have yet to try the lunkerhunts I have. I usually do the walking technique. Or tip of rod toward water and small pops sometimes big pops. Great video 👌.
12 people will have 7 years Bad Luck! 😂
This place is amazing, congratulations, good fishing with beautiful fish.
*_Hug!!!_* 👍🎣🐠🐟😉
12 people HAVEN'T caught their first bass on a topwater frog yet.
OFG_FORGED lol as long as you didn’t hit that dislike button I think he isn’t talking about you!
Is it 14 people now ?

IT HAPPENED! IT FINALLY HAPPENED! We all knew this day would come. Congrats, Alex!!!
WOO! 😄
Major victory sir, Lunkerhunt looks to be a winner so far. Those damn legs, bass cant resist, well played, we all celebrate with you this day, Cheers.
What a day! 😎
Frog in the slop. Size doesn't matter, any frog fish is too fun! Congratulations man!
I loved the music when you hooked up on the frog fish. I literally laughed out loud. Great video my friend.

Hell yea dude! I thought ya clickbaited us when you switched to the craw! That’s good stuff right there!
No clickbait here, this is realistic fishing.
That’s why we watch ya! Frog bites will keep ya wanting more. Love it. Keep at it.
Congrats on your first frog fish!!!
😎
Congrats, RF. Frogs obviously work at the right time and place. The visual explosion of the strike is very exciting. Best wishes, Don

U probally heard this in the comments..but u gotta use braid.there are plenty well priced braids that dont cost an arm an leg.
Oh yeah! Love the music, lol! That was great! The pressure's off now, too! You've officially caught your frog fish, you can just carry the lure around and celebrate ANY good catch with frog pee!

Way to go. Congrats on your first Frog Fish!!! Also congrats on the 50k subs Way to go!!!
Frogging is like Musky Fishing. One thousand cast hundreds of explosions and if your lucky a few fish. Laughed like hell when that music played.
Your one fish up on me Alex with a frog. Congrats on finally getting your first frog fish. Pretty nice fish and bet it must of been really fun. Hopefully you continue to fish with a frog so I could learn from you how to pull one out.

Grats Alex! Perseverance is keeping it realistic.
Thats right 👍
Love it! Congratulations on the first of hopefully 100s.
I have that same lure. One of the legs got torn off from a bass. Great job. Persistence pays off!!
These tip videos are the best man! Keeping it realistic!👍🏻
Awesome! Still haven't gotten a frog fish my self. Your persistence has paid off 🎣👍
Awesome job on catching your first frog fish. They are so fun once you get the hang of them. I’m still working on my first “jig” fish. Hopefully soon!
I knew you could do it, and you caught it at the perfect kind of place to cast a frog.
Finally!
Persistence shows us do not give up! Really cool.
Way to go man, I’ve yet to catch a frog fish myself. I love that you put Stars and Stripes in the vid 👍🏼 Merica!
